What drives you bonkers?

This time of year drives me bonkers.  I can’t stand the constant drone of Christmas carols.  If I hear one more have a happy holiday I may go postal.  Speaking of postal, I really don’t need a gazillion catalogues.  I don’t buy Christmas gifts.

Rude people drive me up a wall.  This is the season where they seem to come out in droves.  I’m so glad I no longer work retail.  It was always a challenge to smile at customers all day when they were so very rude.

We won’t go into many of the other things that drive me crazy, the list is far too long.

     What drives you bonkers?

  1. Where do I begin?
Some tv commercials are so annoying, I refuse to patronize the stores they advertise. Target is one.
People who butcher our National Anthem by ‘stylizing’ it instead of singing it as it is written, thereby denying it the respect it deserves.
    Most cell phone related commercials.
People who (a) drive more than 5 mph below the posted limit, (b) are incapable of using their turn signals, and (c) pull out in front of me when there is no one for blocks behind me then go 1 block and turn.
    More later.

Drivers talking on cell phones and not paying attention to the road!!!

  2. The thing that drives me the most bonkers is the misuse of the English language, particularly grammar. These ones vs. those ones, using “and” instead of “an”. Makes me want to ask what school they graduated? from??? (Yes, the question mark after the word graduated is deliberately placed there.) I mean really, those 2 words aren’t even remotely related. The word “and” is a conjunctive word used to link two thoughts or words together, example: a and b. The word “an” is an indefinite article (like the word a) and is used before words starting with a vowel (as opposed to “a” which is used before a consonant. (See examples in the last sentence.) And if someone tries to correct my use of punctuation, the quotes were deliberately placed to make things stand out. And getting back to “these ones” and “those ones”….the words these and those are the plurals of this and that when used as adjectives and don’t necessarily need an object after them because the object has already been referred to making the repeating of the object redundant. In fact the ONLY correct way to use the words “these ones” or “those ones” is in referring to one dollar bills. And many thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Don’t get me started! There, their, they’re not the same word.

  3. Those bizarre perfume commercials that only appear before Christmas and Valentine’s Day.
Dramatic music in TV shows and movies that drowns out the dramatic dialog it’s supposed to be enhancing. If the dialog can’t stand on its own dramatic merits, all the music in the world won’t help it.
Rap music used in commercials. I no longer drink Dr. Pepper and will never buy a Hyundai for that reason.
TV stations that advertise an up-coming program during every commercial break on a current program. I get so sick of hearing them, I wouldn’t watch the program if they paid me.
Musak playing in every store, ususally 30 year old rock songs performed by a string orchestra. Thank you, no. I will choose when and where and what music I want to hear.

    The list keeps growing… 😀

  4. People putting up Christmas decorations immediately after Halloween. It’s not even close to Thanksgiving. The stores are just as bad, the Walmart here had Christmas carols playing in October….makes me want to rip the CDs out of their sound system. I don’t mind hearing rock and roll music, just don’t give it to me with a string orchestra…., it’s just not the same.
