I wouldn’t want to be a kid today, it doesn’t seem near as fun.
My childhood wasn’t spent with all the sharp corners padded. None of our vehicles had seat belts. We went outside, played hard, and got downright filthy.
We didn’t sass our parents, we didn’t treat any adults with anything other than respect. We said yes sir and yes ma’am. Our neighbors weren’t afraid to discipline us and we would NEVER use foul language towards them.
We drank from the hose. We skinned our knees, rode bikes and horses without helmets, and climbed trees. When our parents hollered our names we ran home as if the devil were on our tails.
The neighborhood kids would gather together and we played hide and seek, red light green light, freeze tag, Red Rover, and many other active games.
We stayed outside until the street lights came on, and then we would have to be in our own yard where we could continue to play until bed time. We pushed ourselves to our limits and slept like logs at night.
We had fun and we survived.
You all have a good one!

That was my childhood exactly! My parents smoked and I got the strap occassionaly. I did not turn out to be a crazed serial killer. Sometimes I despair of kids today really experiencing FUN. Each generation will find there own way to make it work.
Weren’t those super days! There weren’t folks screaming about us all being obese. Remember kick the can. A young mom and her son were in a Bob Evans eating. They were talking about things to do while school was out. I some how got involved and mentioned “kick the can.” The lady seemed excited and asked “Can you play that on the X-box.
