Are you a bully?

As a youngster I could never understand it when people were nasty to each other.  I couldn’t see the point in it.  That’s probably why even one of my own sisters had a habit of bullying me for a long time.

One day, in junior high, I had enough of being bullied by a couple of girls in school and stood up to them with great success.  It felt good.  The next time my sister tried to bully me, I stood up to her.  Success!  She quit bullying me and tried to go after the baby sister.  I wouldn’t allow that.

I do not tolerate bullying.  I understand it even less now than I did as a child.  How and why do certain adults think that bullying is acceptable?

Bullying comes in all forms.  If you are reading this and wondering if I am writing about you, you may just be a bully.

  1. To me, the most dangerous form of bullying is when the child is told by their abusive family that they are just teasing. The emotional repercussions are horrifying. If the recipient isn’t honestly laughing along with everyone else, it’s bullying and that is abuse.
