Whoo hoo! SUN!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Wow, it is amazing how bright the sun is after so many dreary days of no sun. Yesterday became a spectacular day as the clouds burned off and the sun made an appearance.
So far it looks as though we are in for a possible five-day run of partly cloudy days. Hurrah!
Lucy spent the entire day doing one hucklebutt after another celebrating the sunshine I think.
Gavin enjoyed moseying about the yard sniffing out squirrel trails.
Here’s to sunshine, long may she reign.

Where has the sun gone?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It may be December but that shouldn’t mean that our sunshine (what little there is at this time of year) completely disappears for weeks on end.
We’ve had nothing but gray and dreary days with rain (at least it’s not snow).
The forecast tells us that we have four days of partly cloudy weather heading our way. Tell me, what is the difference between partly cloudy and partly sunny?
My floors are muddy with Curmudgeon and dog prints. I am the only one who wipes my feet on the mats. I hope we have some drying of the ground.

Maybe this will help relieve my stress

A while back I fell in love with ear cuffs. I also found out that they are not easy to find. I have quite a collection but am always looking for more.
Yesterday I found a place that sells blanks with holes. Now I can create my own designs.

And they’re out of here
Posted by doggonedmysteries
There’s a huge box of men’s coats, thermal vests, and lined hunting pants ready to go to people who need them to stay warm this winter.
Sometime today I hope to find someone who will pick them up.
It is amazing how much brighter my basement is with all of those coats down off the steel clothesline that held them for so long.
This is only the beginning. Little does The Curmudgeon know that there are so many more things that will exit this house over the winter. By spring we should be a lot lighter in clutter and stuff we no longer need or want.
I’m sorting through my clothes and getting bags ready to go to women’s shelters.
Now if only I can get the house cleaned….

So I guess there are no homeless people on the weekend?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I finally talked The Curmudgeon into letting go of his too numerous to count winter coats that he never wears. This was the man who every time I turned around had bought a new coat or new shoes. (I have him talked down to keeping just 3.)
He spent more money on his clothes, shoes, and coats in all the years we’ve been married, than I ever did.
I still wear a jacket that I got over 20 years ago, only now I line it with a hoodie when it’s very cold outside. I have two newer coats that aren’t as comfortable or warm. They are going.
The only problem was not a single homeless shelter was answering their phones on a Saturday. WTF?
Looks as though I’ll be spending my very busy with doctor appointments Monday and Tuesday calling around to see who wants a ton of warm coats to hand out to people who really need them this winter.
Even Lucy has a warm coat and hat for the winter.
Gavin is happy with just the hat.
He hates shirts, sweaters, or jackets.

Browsing properties in the southern states
Posted by doggonedmysteries
As more snow fell yesterday, I took to browsing southern beach properties for sale. Sigh.
Yeah, I would have to hit the lottery for sure.
I did find a few that had my mouth-watering though. Damned shame they are so far out of my price range. As much as I adore Pennsylvania in the spring, summer, and fall, I am sick of winters here.
You all have a good one and think warm thoughts.

Icky weather heading our way
Posted by doggonedmysteries
According to the weather forecast app on my Firefox tool bar, we are facing two days of snow and temperatures in the mid 30s. No sign of sun coming our way until Friday and Saturday.
I miss the sun.
The dogs miss the sun. They don’t want to wear winter hats and coats all the time.
I need to hit the lottery so the dogs and I can move to Florida or Georgia. I do love a beach. We’ll bring The Curmudgeon along if he wants to leave PA but that probably would take some crow bar action.
His roots go deep and I’m thinking that just to move him out of this damned house would take dynamite.

Baby, it’s cold outside!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
A Nor’easter is on its way and we can already feel the change in the air.
Bitter cold wind whips through and stings our faces. So glad the pups’ hats arrived!
Thank you to their Auntie Diana. She was able to find them at her Target. Our Targets were all wiped out of them.
So worth it too. Aren’t they cute?!

By any other name they’d still stink

Happily, we had sun today. Not only were the dogs overjoyed but so were we. It’s been grey and rainy for too long.
My day consisted of taking the dogs out, bringing the dogs in, taking the dogs out, bringing the dogs in, repeat.
The last trip for the night was uneventful, thank goodness. We’ve had two neighbors complain that their dogs met up with the black and white, evil and smelly kitties of doom.
Yes, we have skunks in the middle of town. G has seen two different ones in her yard.
Thus we tip toe out and in after dark.
You all have a good one.

It was a good night for soup.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Since we’re getting a new order in from Five Star Home Foods soon, dinner was a ‘clean some stuff out of the freezer’ sort of meal. Only this time I turned the stuff into a soup. I cleared out frozen veggies and chicken breasts.
I made a chicken tortellini soup. I used half a bag of sliced carrots, 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts cubed, a half bag of mixed soup veggies, half a bag of kale, chopped fresh onion and celery, some dried basil and oregano, turmeric, sea salt, pepper, frozen tortellini, and chicken broth.
It turned out quite tasty.
No, I didn’t give you any measurements because I didn’t measure.
You all have a good one!
