Yeah, I think I’ll stop with the birthdays…

Yesterday was my 61st birthday. I dreaded it. I did not enjoy it.

Bright spot of the day was opening a card from my cousin and seeing that she really does get me. Loved the music it played too.

I need a beach to live on for the rest of my life. Come on Lottery win!

Thank you to all who who wished me well.

You all have a good one.

One birthday present…

My birthday gift to myself came yesterday.

my new chair

It looks great in my room and it is the perfect height for me to use my bed for a foot rest.

*Doing a happy dance.*

You all have a good one!

Blah

My birthday is in two days. This one is depressing as hell. I feel as though I have nothing to show for all these years on this earth.

All my art work that my parents had kept over the years is gone–stolen by someone I should be able to trust with my life, but I wouldn’t trust her with a bag of dog shit.

My writing is at a standstill because my brain won’t work under stress.

All I have is The Curmudgeon, my cousins, my friends, and the pups.

Come to think of it, I am wealthy.

You all have a good one.

Even a couple of hours away is a good thing

A few hours away from the house is like a mini vacation for me. I already feel calmer than I have in the last few days. They were a bitch and so was I.

G and I went to the local flower show. We had a great time even though this year’s was the smallest it’s ever been. I talked to several ‘hardscapers.’ I have dreams of redoing the yard into a more functional (for The Curmudgeon) patios and pathways, raised garden beds, more private, and dog friendly yard.

I found a garden piece at the same stand I bought one from two years ago. Love it! Is it two or more than two that make a collection? I might be starting one. 😉

Without Tecfidera life goes on

Slower, clumsier, and with falls. His day wasn’t easy.

Of course I didn’t get much sleep. Why? Because everyone and his brother was calling on the phone starting at 9 a.m. with appointment reminders. These are the same people I tell that ‘I am not a morning person so please make my appointment for the afternoon.’

Think much?

Yeah, I didn’t think so. This was me today…

Dont make me adult Lucy

A day without his Tecfidera is like hell

He started out poor but able to take the dogs out in the morning. By the time I got up he was already having difficulty walking.

A few hours later we were off to our wellness appointments with our doctor. He was not walking well and actually fell in the office rest room. (This I find out later on.) The doctor ran a blood test they tried to get a urine test done but he couldn’t go so I had to run back to them later with a sample.

By dinnertime he was down to using a pee bottle and having the pad on his chair again. There was no walking without a walker. And this is just the first 24 hours.

I’m seriously in need of a lottery win and… HPIM4441

Where is the deep end and how far do I have to jump?

So another day where I was on the go went by with me not getting anything else done.

Took Lucy to the vet for a wellness check and two shots for which she was due. I know she’s getting too chunky and have often scolded The Curmudgeon for giving her pieces of his molasses cookies. Proof, she’s gained seven pounds since her last visit.

Yeah, she’s going walking with me when we get decent walking weather.

I swear if a black cloud could aim for over our house it most assuredly has done that. We got a phone call from The Curmudgeon’s neurologist. According to his blood work, he has to stop taking the Tecfidera immediately.

This is the medication that improved his walking so much. He’s to have monthly blood tests now. He is also to have a new MRI done of his head. He is off all MS medications for the time being since they aren’t going to put him back on the Avonex. This is terrifying and devastating all at once. We have no clue what is going to happen from here.

I need that lottery win more than ever. He needs better care than I can give him. A whopping win would take care of that and buy me a little house on a beach somewhere. If I don’t go live on a beach for the rest of my life, I’ll need a rubber room and restraints.

Curmudgeon update and more

We had a busy day yesterday. I took The Curmudgeon over for his every three months neurologist appointment. Nothing new there. She is going to have him get more frequent blood tests done to keep a close eye on him because of the one medication (Tecfidera) he is on.

From her office we went to the first of his every-other-month blood test. I dropped him off and drove across the street to a strip mall to pick up the dogs’ food and cookies. Then back over to pick him up. The timing was perfect, a minute after I sat down in the lab’s waiting room, he walked out.

Today I take Lucy to the vet for her wellness check and shots. This should be fun. She’s such a hoot.

HPIM4405Psssst! If I hidez here you fink dey willz find me?

“Fog so thick you could almost cut it”

Clichéd yes. Truth also yes. Looking out my kitchen window I can barely see my fence line. That is a thick fog.

Rain and warmer temperatures have raised a fog impossibly thick. Oh, the horror tales that could come from it!

It is thicker than this fog:

52 degrees!

After all the nasty snow and cold, cold, cold weather we’ve had this was an absolute heat wave. Temperatures in the high forties and even up to the mid fifties all week? I can live with that.

It sort of drives a few of my Southern friends crazy that to me this is T-shirt and flip-flop weather. They shiver and run for a blanket to wrap themselves, or a winter jacket. Meanwhile I’m outside in a T-shirt and flip-flops enjoying the day.

Mind you, I did have to step carefully in the yard since it is still covered in snow…

I love that sound!

What sound is that you ask? The sound of rapidly melting snow! YAY!

Soon we’ll have green grass and flowers and be able to go for walks!

We are seeing a warming trend…

We were above freezing yesterday even without the sun. Not by much, only two degrees, but it is better than below freezing.

Today 42 degrees, tomorrow 45, and it keeps getting better with 47 on Tuesday and 50 on Wednesday.

The basement is already flooding in the back so I can tell we are in for some interesting times. Yes, another reason I hate this house.

At least both dogs are going out willingly.

HPIM4402Really Mom? Really?
