The great Sake experiment

G and I are on our way to trying different Sakes. I bought our first bottle this week. This one is a fairly inexpensive American Sake, Moonstone Asian Pear.

We are looking forward to trying it. When we do, I’ll write our own review of it and any others we try.

In the meantime, if you have any suggestions for us to add to our list of Sakes to try, keeping in mind we are on a tight budget so no expensive ones, please give us some suggestions and let us know if your suggestion is best served warmed or cold.

Rambling day

The Curmudgeon was okay so G and I left for a day of rambling the countryside.

I filled my gas tank…good thing.

We headed out to the country. We love driving along on back country roads where we have a good chance of finding roadside stands selling fresh produce.

We had a plan. We had to keep changing the plan because we kept hitting roads where traffic was backed up due to construction or accidents.

Stopped for lunch at an Arbys. G had coupons and they came in handy.

Our best stop of the day was at Echo Hill. They sell all sorts of bulk dried fruits, veggies, flours, spices and more. It’s easy to spend a fortune there. We didn’t break our budgets and came out with a nice amount of stuff each.

After that we stopped at a few roadside produce stands and an antique shop we’d been dying to stop at for years.

We didn’t get home until 5 p.m.

A day away from home…nice

G and I used yesterday to run errands.

We stopped for a quick snack and coffee at Panera first. Then we went to Target and moseyed around there for a bit.

I picked up the Mad Max movie The Curmudgeon wanted. Anyone want it? We watched it, not impressed. The old Mad Max movies had some story to them this did not.

After Target we picked up a few groceries and then made a stop at the liquor store.

I have resupplied my wine fridge.

(Note: wine fridge is on the back porch and is the old (over 42 years) copper tone fridge from our kitchen that we have twice replaced with ‘new more efficient’ ones, one of which died rather quickly and dramatically, after a short couple of years.)

I think this sounds good about now…

Fun to see old TV shows

Watching some old reruns of Murder She Wrote the past few weeks has given me some smiles. I enjoy seeing some of the big stars that were guest stars.

The same goes for many other old shows I sometimes watch late at night.

Do you have any favorite oldies but goodies that you watch?

Another damned day gone to hell

When I feel like I have the energy to get some yard work done, it’s too freaking hot out. After an hour I am wiped out.

When I want to work inside, The Curmudgeon complains.

“The Vacuum is too loud.”

Really? Tough shit.

“Do you have to keep blocking my view of the TV?”

You see all this stuff between you and the TV? It’s not dusting itself. And I don’t see you doing it. Oh, gee something that you could do while seated and watching TV. Do you ever do it? No.

“When’s dinner?”

When I am good and ready to make it. Do you starve around here?

Yeah, I look forward to getting out of bed each day…
