New crock pot lamb recipe

Last night I placed a boneless leg of lamb into my crock pot insert.

Shawarma marinade

Then I poured this over the entire thing. I put the cover on and set the pot in the fridge over night.

8:30 a.m. I pulled the insert out of the fridge and put it in the pot. Turned it on low for 8 hours. After 8 hours I popped it to high for 30 minutes.

DELICIOUS!!! So tender and flavorful.

The TRE45ONOUS squatter in the White House

Yep, that man.

He needs to pack his bags and head for his tower where he can stay under house arrest (with an ankle monitor) until his trial for treason.

Although, personally, I’d much rather see him handcuffed and perp-marched into a waiting police car and taken directly to jail.

Baby #45

Time is up Traitor 45

When #45 steps off of Air Force One he should be met with an arrest warrant for treason to our country.  In handcuffs, he should be dragged off to jail to stand trial. No bail, he is a flight risk.

A second warrant should be issued for his VP Pence since he knew all about it and supported it with vigor.

And so on down the line.

Sake tasting on the porch

G and I were joined by Viviana for a sake tasting evening on the front porch.

We tried Tozai Snow Maiden Junmai Nigori Sake. This is a fairly thick and chewy nigorizake (cloudy sake), but it is still surprisingly dry.

It is not at the top of our list of favorites.

And the rockets’ red glare…

Yep, they are still setting off fireworks around here. Worst thing is, they waited until after 10 p.m. to start.

I really wish I could sell this house and move away to a peaceful, tropical beach where no one uses fireworks.

I’d be happy in a little beach cottage by the sea.

All alone just my dog and me.

So the squatter in the White House is at it again…

It seems that #45 CAN sink even lower than he has already sunk.

He treated the Queen with the same complete lack of respect as he does all women. We can only hope that she has his head lopped off for his complete lack of manners and respect. (Please, oh please, oh please!)

The giant baby did exactly as expected when confronted by the wonderful people of Great Britain who had many of us cheering them on in their protests.

He whined and threw another tantrum. Yep, exactly as expected.

Out of a sound sleep into OMG

So at 7 a.m. I was in a very deep sleep.

A glorious sleep.

A much needed sleep.

A sound sleep I hadn’t the like of in months.

At 7:02 his hollering broke through my deep sleep.

Slammed with adrenaline I leap off the couch and bark my shin and a pinky toe on the coffee table.

He’s fallen and he can’t get up.

I can’t get him up.

It’s a little after 7 a.m. no one is answering their doors, I’m betting they are in the throes of REM sleep where I was a few minutes ago.

I call 911. I apologize profusely for calling but he needs to be up off the floor and in his bed. I cannot lift him.

Shortly afterwards a firetruck shows up. I apologize profusely for dragging them out and point three firefighters in his direction.

I am embarrassed about the stairs I didn’t get vacuumed and dust in the hall I didn’t get mopped. But I don’t get enough sleep. I am so tired that cleaning is low on my list of things to do.

He gets clean clothes to wear and meals made for him to eat. The dishes are always washed…

I’m just too damned tired to clean.

When I think of how bad the attic is and if it were clean of the mess from the roofer I could put the stuff up there that made it to the back bedroom but no further because the attic is a mess from the damned roofer and I am too tired to do the basic cleaning much less all that needs to be done there.

I am too damned tired.

Good bye not so old, old couch

So now I need to figure out what to do with our present couch since I plan to buy a new one very soon. Found one I really liked last week and since the charge is cleared…

Well, I do sleep on the couch and this one is not as comfortable as the one I looked at for sleeping.

Maybe then my back will try to heal.

A surprise on the porch…

I hauled all the cans back into the driveway and yard from the curb this morning. I have already filled two can from the branches in the driveway that didn’t fit to go out Monday. Now those cans will sit in the driveway until next Monday when they will go out for pick up. By then I’ll probably have all the other cans filled and ready to go again.

I was watering the plants on the front porch. I took down one of the two hanging pots to water and found this:

I very carefully watered the plant and put it back. It wasn’t long before Momma was back on the nest. I asked Viviana if she could spare some of her bird feeder seed and put a little bit out where Momma could easily find it. That way she doesn’t have to go too far from her nest. Yeah, I’m a softy.

Yeah, back and sunburn said no work outside today…

I thought about cutting down the black walnut tree that has started growing in my miniature lilac bush, but after getting sunburned yesterday, figured it was a better idea to wait for the sun to get off that area of the yard first. That didn’t happen until late afternoon.

By that time I’d already done a bunch of lifting and carrying of laundry baskets in the house and my back said forget it. I guess there’s always tomorrow.

Yard work continues…

This time I pulled out the chain saw, Fiskar Stik, and large loppers. There are four filled cans behind this one and enough left on the driveway to refill half of them.

Yard work will never get caught up…

I worked hard using the Fiskars Stik on the magnolia tree and piling the trimmings into garbage cans until my back hollered, “STOP!”

I’ll probably use the chain saw on the heavier branches tomorrow.

I should be chopping down tall weeds in the side gardens and on the pond area but I haven’t the energy to do it.

I wonder if our yard will ever look nice again.

I want to cry every time I go out there these days.
