My two therapists

I do wish I’d grabbed my camera yesterday when The Curmudgeon’s friend showed up.  Gavin and Patty were so excited to see him I thought they’d mow him down.

When he finally sat down on the couch both dogs took that as an invitation to roughhouse.  He took it in good spirits because he needed doggy attention.  He recently lost both his dogs mere weeks apart.  By the time he left, he’d been thoroughly loved on by my two.  They make good grief counselors.

We told him to come back any time for a doggy fix because they certainly enjoy the attention.

You all have a good one!

Gavin the spoiled brat

Gavin screams for his breakfast every day and I hear that The Curmudgeon is helpless to stop him.  I have learned to pull my pillow over my head and block out the noise if I want to sleep in.

Gavin also screams for his dinner.  Gavin loves food.  He wants his food now!

Lately Gavin has started to scream to go out when I take Patty out before him on the late night out.  You think maybe he’s a spoiled brat?  I do.

Compared to him Miss Patty is silent.  It takes a lot to make her bark.  I think I could count the number of barks we’ve heard come from her on one hand.

You all have a good one!

Eleven years old and Gavin still needs training…

A few months ago, I remarked to The Curmudgeon that it’s been a while since one of the dogs inflicted an injury on me.  I spoke too soon or maybe they heard me and wanted to prove me wrong.

I usually take the dogs out after eleven at night.  I always take them out on the retractable leash.  After all, they are in their own fenced in yard, are they not?

Around Thanksgiving, Gavin started bolting out the door.  This was not a good thing.  When he bolted out the door he managed to hit the end of the leash with enough force to pull me off my feet.  I did not like this.  I did not like bruises and skinned knees.  Thus, the sit and wait until I get out the door first lessons began.

Patty took to the new routine well.  Gavin did not.  We had a real battle going that I refused to lose.  I had to switch him to a six-foot lead instead of the retractable to get my point across.  We’re back to the retractable leash and he’s no longer bolting out the door on me.  Score!

I’m in for a long night.

It took forever for Gavin to finally go into a restful sleep and that only lasted for two hours.  He had a rough day at the Vet’s.  He had an allergic reaction to the first medication they used and had to have more meds to make the hives go away.

He had a tooth extracted, his teeth cleaned, a mani-pedi, a deep ear cleaning, wart and skin tags removed, meds, anesthesia, and various other fees all totaling a massive $670.00.    OUCH!

He’s had to pee almost every hour on the hour and whines to let me know.  Must be all those IV fluids.  He’s getting fussy again but he’s doing fine.

You all have a good one.
