What were you watching when…

Watching Retro TV last night, Cold Squad.  I realized that we’d missed a good series, and now I wonder what we were watching here instead.  The show aired from 1998 to 2005 in Canada. The American counterpart, Cold Case Files, began airing in 2003 to 2010.

Makes me wonder how many truly ‘original’ TV series the US writers have come up with over the years and how many they ‘borrowed’ from Great Britain and Canada.

It’s sad to me that so many of our shows were not originals.

Face Off, a new season.

I shouldn’t have been surprised that Face Off immediately addicted me the first season.  I love watching the creation of creatures and characters.

Last night a new season began and thanks to the DVR and being able to set a reminder and have it even switch to the channel I didn’t miss it.

Looking forward to the next episodes.

Happy Birthday Curmudgeon!!!

Lately I’ve been watching the strangest TV shows

One of my favorites is Dr. Pol.  Watching a vet make farm calls and take care of small animals.  I worked for vet for a while.  The clinic was only for small animals, I think a clinic like Dr. Pol’s presents more challenges for sure.  I love National Geo Wild channel.

I also enjoy watching the Science channel.  Morgan Freeman narrating anything is great.

I’ve also discovered that I don’t care for a lot of shows on a lot of channels.  That’s to be expected, I’m not a TV nut like The Curmudgeon.

You all have a good one!

Dr. Who 50th anniversary.

Yes, I spent the entire week watching all the shows on BBC America and last night watching the anniversary movie.  I am not a rabid Dr. Who fan, but I do enjoy the show.

I have discovered which villain creeps me out completely.  Not the Daleks, nope.  It’s the weeping Angels!  OMG.  They completely creep me out!

Which Dr. Who villain stepped on your creepy meter?

Bad movie giggles

Really bad ‘spooky’ creature movies were the night’s treat.  On a scale of 5 being the worst B movie you’ve ever seen and 1 being the best, these came in at 7.

They were good for giggles and many “oh, that person is going to die next” statements.  Not surprising, each prediction of impending doom was correct.

The Curmudgeon asked, “How do you do that?”

“It’s easy. They so telegraph who is next on the dead list.” I replied.

Beast of the Bering Sea almost as bad as Sharknado soon to be followed by Stonado.  OMG!  **Giggle**  Earlier, I LMFAO at giant crocodiles and piranha.

You all have a good one!

HGTV, stop it already with the Stepford McMansion people, please.

Does anyone else think that the people on HGTV are a bunch of spoiled, egotistical, brats?  I am so tired of seeing these over-privileged, over-paid, stinkers go house hunting, where they pick these over-priced McMansions to pieces.

“The paint color is awful”  So paint it, you freaking idiot.  “I don’t like the carpets.”  Duh, can you not tear them up?  Have you no eyes to
see past the cosmetics?  The freaking house is huge and beyond gorgeous.

Holy crap people, I’d love to have half the house.  I’d love even more to see them try to live in this house. Hahaha!  I’d bet not one of them could make it a week.  It takes courage to live in a normal, average person’s home.

Don’t get me started on the international house hunter program. ROFLMAO!  To me it is more of a comedy show than anything else.

I’d kill to have one of these programs come in and make this place more functional and do the needed repairs.  Does anyone want to redo my back yard, fill in the pond, and level the whole thing?  Yeah, that would be too much of a miracle.

Hey, HGTV why not show us real people who have eyes and a modicum of common sense?  No wonder I quit watching that channel a while ago.

You all have a good one!

Brain Games at 9 tonight on Nat Geo channel

I plan to either watch or record to watch this show later.  I’ve always enjoyed the sort of things they are going to do in the show.

Optical illusions are wonderful.  I do wish I could manage to do some sort of clever optical illusion on our porch at Halloween to set things on edge.

You all have a good one!

Face Off on Syfy

Face Off, do you watch it?  I’ve been watching since the first one because I love Hollywood make up and props.  They’ve had some great artists go through.  The previews for this season seemed to promise even better.

I have to say that this bunch has me very disappointed.  So far, only two out of the entire group have shown any promise.  Color me blue.  I am sad.  I hoped this season they’d really knock my socks off, but so far, they have all disappointed me.

If you watch the show, please tell me what you think.  Are you disappointed with this group too?

You all have a good one!

Will 2013 mean better TV shows?

I quit watching the TV program Fringe when it went past the world of weird science and wandered into just plain weird.

I stopped watching Castle when I could say far too many lines before the actors on the new shows, not the reruns.  Yes, it got that predictable.

I quit watching Burn Notice when they went into full-out violence and lost the clever factor.

I quickly stopped watching Person of Interest because it was far from interesting.

In NCIS LA I like Hetty (Linda Hunt) who has a very small part on the show.  I don’t like the lack of heart but plenty of gun play the show doesn’t come close in the story factor that NCIS has.  I never have warmed up to the rest of the cast.  Therefore, I don’t watch it.

I refuse to watch reality shows.

Do you think that 2013 might just bring us real entertainment and not more dumbass reality shows?  Oh, please, please, please!

You all have a good one!

TV, crap as usual…

Man, could TV possibly get any worse?  I am so glad that some of my favorite off-channel shows are coming back on.  What they are running on the big three is pure garbage.

Hooray for TNT, Syfy, USA, History and the Science channel.  Without them, The Curmudgeon would drive me up a wall and around the bend.   (Yes, a very short trip for me these days.)

Are you also being driven crazy by the lack of decent TV?

You all have a good one!

Bring back Firefly

I enjoyed watching a marathon of Firefly on the Science channel yesterday.  I do wish they were still making the show.  I found it ‘after’ they cancelled it.  I discovered the show on reruns.  I became a fast fan.

It’s unbelievable  that I became a fan,  it is a melding of space and western, and I was never a western fan.

I do wish they would bring Firefly back.  It is so much better than many of the horrible shows on TV today.

You all have a good one!

Lost Girl is doomed

It never fails, whenever I really, really LOVE a TV show, it invariably is canceled.  Therefore, since I really, really LOVE Lost Girl, you can be certain the cancellation of the show is imminent.

I love the originality of the show, the writing is crisp and terrific,  the characters are beyond excellent.  I’ve heard some of the greatest lines ever come from this show.  This can only mean the death knell is not far behind.

Of course this show is not for everyone.  However, for me it’s one of the best to come along in years.

You all have a good one.
