Full blood moon
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Got to see the full eclipse of the moon. I was afraid I’d miss it since the clouds had covered the sky earlier.
It’s times like this where I wish I had a good camera.
One of these days…
For now…You have been Gavin mooned.

Muscle relaxants the key to getting nothing done…At. All.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
If my back weren’t so sore, I wouldn’t take the muscle relaxants and would actually get some things accomplished.
As it is, I take a half of one before I go to sleep. Then I zonk out until almost three in the afternoon and nothing gets done.
My back is feeling better though.
Is it worth the trade-off? I don’t know.

So here we are in fall now…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I still do not have my back porch winterized, no caulking done, no weather-stripping on the back door up. Nothing.
The front porch is still falling apart.
My attic is not cleaned. Hell, the house isn’t clean.
I’ve not rearranged one single piece of furniture in any room.
The yard still looks like crap as does the gardens.
In other words, I’ve accomplished nothing.
It sucks to not have any help.
A miracle

The Curmudgeon actually had a good day.
I woke late, due to taking a muscle relaxant for my back, to find that he went out and picked up the dogs’ medications and his own.
I was so grateful and surprised that you could have knocked me over with a feather.
Anything else I need to do?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Yesterday: Overslept, completely forgot The Curmudgeon had a neurologist appointment.
Deeply asleep. Woke to his voice on the phone telling me to get up.
Jumped up, adrenaline flowing because I thought he’d fallen again. Realized he hadn’t after my heart was pumping 100 mph.
I had less than an hour to dress and drink enough coffee to get me alert enough to drive.
Today, I have to run to the vet’s office for the dogs’ allergy medications.
Then I have to stop at the pharmacy for The Curmudgeon’s medications.
After running all over town, I need to find some time to sit down and write checks out for bills–if I have enough mind available to do that.
Then there’s laundry, cooking dinner, and taking care of the pups.
Not to mention that I also need to clean the house, go grocery shopping, and run The Curmudgeon to two more appointments this week.

A hodge podge of things to write about
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Someone rudely trolled my page and left a comment that automatically went to my spam jail. Yep, if you don’t see your comments here then they obviously went to my spam jail for some reason or other known only to my spam catcher.
They were extolling their severe problem with my blog being rife with misspelled words.
While I am not always at my best (wide-awake) when writing, I do try to make certain that my spelling is correct. I admit that I do miss the occasional word here and there as I am human and not of their Godlike stature.
However, when Gavin or Lucy take over my blog, I cannot guarantee that any of the spelling is correct.
Visited with G this afternoon for a few minutes. I took her some straws to make drinking easier. I know from a couple of tooth pulling experiences of my own, that straws are a welcome item. She looked so tired that I cut my visit short so she could get back to sleep, which is what I am sure she was doing when I showed up at her door.
I intend to spend the rest of the night curled up with a good book.
You all have a good one!
And this is for all the trolls out there.
I keep him on my front porch and poke him with a wooden skewer when the person or situation suits.
I think we’re in for a long week

G is having a tooth pulled today. I’ll be over to see her afterwards with an ice pack and straws. Been there a couple of times.
The Curmudgeon and I both have doctor appointments this week. Oh fun.
I’d like to make a Target and a grocery store run. With a stop at the farmers market Thursday or Friday.
The yard needs a lot of work and of course I am the only who does the work other than the mowing where we have hired someone to do that. Just thinking of all the work that needs doing makes me tired.
I also need to clean out the attic, replace the window screen up there with something that can tolerate the strength of the whole house fan, and get some caulking done. There’s painting to do too.
The back porch needs a good clearing out along with caulking, sealing, and weather-stripping on the back door.
Sure do wish I was three people so I could actually get everything done I need to get done here before winter.
Sigh. And then there is this:

We’re all mad here…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Very strange day.
My back was killing me so I took a muscle relaxant when I went to bed at 5 a.m. and slept until after 3 p.m.
I heard nothing and I think I stayed in one position for all ten hours I slept. Woke fuzzy headed and in dire need of coffee.
Came down to my computer acting up and The Curmudgeon telling me all about it. You don’t want to know.
Took several hours and a lot of cussing to get things back to normal.
So hot out I was not eager to go out even for a few minutes. I refused to cook dinner. We ordered pizza.
Best part about the day came after 11 p.m. when we got rain. We needed it, could use more, but happy for what we got.

Taking on any volunteer hardscapers
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I wish I could afford to have my back yard professionally hardscaped. What with the dire need to repair the front porch and other expenses, that’s not going to happen.
This summer was so dry that our lawn is pure crap. It’s nothing but dead grass and weeds. My gardens are close to death too.
We could save so much water with a nice hardscaped yard and some raised beds. Raised beds would not only be easier for me to take care of but I be able to better keep the squirrels out of my veggies too.
I am not above begging, bartering, or trading a meal or two for supplies or help.

Slow day
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Too hot to work outside. Kept The Curmudgeon inside.
Worked a bit on indoor chores. I’ll never catch up on those.
Finished doing half the laundry–his stuff.
Cooked a nice and simple dinner.
Took it easy the rest of the time.
That felt good for a change.
The best part was snuggling with this girl.

Rambling day
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The Curmudgeon was okay so G and I left for a day of rambling the countryside.
I filled my gas tank…good thing.
We headed out to the country. We love driving along on back country roads where we have a good chance of finding roadside stands selling fresh produce.
We had a plan. We had to keep changing the plan because we kept hitting roads where traffic was backed up due to construction or accidents.
Stopped for lunch at an Arbys. G had coupons and they came in handy.
Our best stop of the day was at Echo Hill. They sell all sorts of bulk dried fruits, veggies, flours, spices and more. It’s easy to spend a fortune there. We didn’t break our budgets and came out with a nice amount of stuff each.
After that we stopped at a few roadside produce stands and an antique shop we’d been dying to stop at for years.
We didn’t get home until 5 p.m.
Good fing dey gotted home when dey did my dinner wuz awmost late!

A day away from home…nice
Posted by doggonedmysteries
G and I used yesterday to run errands.
We stopped for a quick snack and coffee at Panera first. Then we went to Target and moseyed around there for a bit.
I picked up the Mad Max movie The Curmudgeon wanted. Anyone want it? We watched it, not impressed. The old Mad Max movies had some story to them this did not.
After Target we picked up a few groceries and then made a stop at the liquor store.
I have resupplied my wine fridge.
(Note: wine fridge is on the back porch and is the old (over 42 years) copper tone fridge from our kitchen that we have twice replaced with ‘new more efficient’ ones, one of which died rather quickly and dramatically, after a short couple of years.)
I think this sounds good about now…
