Noooo Momma, let me!

So both The Curmudgeon and I were laid low for a solid week with a bad case of the creeping crud. I’m about one day ahead of him.

Still have some congestion and a cough but feeling almost human now. The Curmudgeon is sleeping soundly without coughing for the first time.

I might actually put on real clothes today. I’ve been hanging around in sweat pants, one of my super soft heather (http://www.teddythedog.com/Default.asp) T-shirts, and a denim shirt.

At a possible high of over 60 degrees, it’s the perfect day to get up and out. Maybe even take Lucy to the park between rain storms.

HPIM4320I not coming down until you lets me say something on the blog!

Almost made it.

*Move over. I need to work on my blog.*

*No, Momma you go back to the couch and I’ll do it.*

*Cough. Cough. I can do it.*

*See? You still be coughing. Go back to the couch. I am the dogtor I say so.*

HPIM4324Nyah, I win again.

2,222nd post!

Poor Momma she didn’t get to make her 2,222 post, I did!

HPIM4324Nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah!

Momma says she will probably be back in a couple of days. She’s still not up to snuff.

She’s sorta mad at WordPress ’cause she thought they were gonna publish her STATS yesterday but they weren’t on the page when she looked. Sorry to disappoint everyone by not being here yesterday.

The Dogtors are in

Geez, we never realized how much work keeping this blog going is for Mom.

It was not a good day. Daddy went to the store trying to help out and then he fell down the porch steps when trying to come in the door. He might not have fallen if they weren’t so crumbly. At least he is coughing a lot less than Momma. Poor Daddy is going to be sore tomorrow.

Momma said we are good dogtors but she is as sick as ever. We made her drink lots of stuff and took nappies with her all day. She says she wishes we could scratch her ears since they’ve been terrible itchy inside. She has coughed so bad her ribcage is killing her.

HPIM4323Gavin wouldn’t pose with the stethoscope on but I would!

The Momma is sick

Hi, this is Lucy posting for Mommy tonight. Mommy has a bad case of the creeping crud.

She went to the doctor today and he gave her two kinds of medicine. Then he told her to get plenty of rest. She was still laughing about that when she came home. If she’s not better in 5 to 7 days she has to go back. Gavin and I are being her nurses, it’s my shift now.

Only a passing bit of blue

I think this is the first year in a long time where I didn’t sink into the deepest of the deep depressions. I only had a couple of passing blue periods.

I do believe that it is because of a few good friends who know enough to not let me wallow in sorrow, gloom, and reminiscences of family now gone.

They’ve let me find my path through everything the past has thrown at me. They never pointed me in one direction or another. They let my feet lead me on.

Thank you my dear friends.

In case you are wondering…

My days of writing are few. It seems that moments of writing clarity are too often interrupted by household chaos and The Curmudgeon’s ill-health.

He has so few good days any more that it is difficult to sit and write when he’s in so much pain. I seem to have to jump up and do something for him or dogs every time I get seated for more than a minute.

I’m tired all the time and my brain fuzzes. I’m horrified to find my self dozing off with Lucy for an hour or so every night lately.

Lucy doesn’t mind.HPIM4312

Lost a day here

amuse meI have no idea what happened to yesterday. I got up and had plans to get some stuff done. However, somewhere between there and now, the day frittered away.

Do you have days like that?

And they’re out of here

There’s a huge box of men’s coats, thermal vests, and lined hunting pants ready to go to people who need them to stay warm this winter.

Sometime today I hope to find someone who will pick them up.

It is amazing how much brighter my basement is with all of those coats down off the steel clothesline that held them for so long.

This is only the beginning. Little does The Curmudgeon know that there are so many more things that will exit this house over the winter. By spring we should be a lot lighter in clutter and stuff we no longer need or want.

I’m sorting through my clothes and getting bags ready to go to women’s shelters.

Now if only I can get the house cleaned….

So I guess there are no homeless people on the weekend?

I finally talked The Curmudgeon into letting go of his too numerous to count winter coats that he never wears. This was the man who every time I turned around had bought a new coat or new shoes. (I have him talked down to keeping just 3.)

He spent more money on his clothes, shoes, and coats in all the years we’ve been married, than I ever did.

I still wear a jacket that I got over 20 years ago, only now I line it with a hoodie when it’s very cold outside. I have two newer coats that aren’t as comfortable or warm. They are going.

The only problem was not a single homeless shelter was answering their phones on a Saturday. WTF?

Looks as though I’ll be spending my very busy with doctor appointments Monday and Tuesday calling around to see who wants a ton of warm coats to hand out to people who really need them this winter.

HPIM4300Even Lucy has a warm coat and hat for the winter.

HPIM4295Gavin is happy with just the hat.

He hates shirts, sweaters, or jackets.

Browsing properties in the southern states

As more snow fell yesterday, I took to browsing southern beach properties for sale. Sigh.

Yeah, I would have to hit the lottery for sure.

I did find a few that had my mouth-watering though. Damned shame they are so far out of my price range. As much as I adore Pennsylvania in the spring, summer, and fall, I am sick of winters here.

You all have a good one and think warm thoughts.

HPIM4294Even Gavin wanted to wear his hat with the snow.

By any other name they’d still stink

Happily, we had sun today. Not only were the dogs overjoyed but so were we. It’s been grey and rainy for too long.

My day consisted of taking the dogs out, bringing the dogs in, taking the dogs out, bringing the dogs in, repeat.

The last trip for the night was uneventful, thank goodness. We’ve had two neighbors complain that their dogs met up with the black and white, evil and smelly kitties of doom.

Yes, we have skunks in the middle of town. G has seen two different ones in her yard.

Thus we tip toe out and in after dark.

You all have a good one.
