Where was I?…zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I can’t seem to write out a single complete or coherent thought these days much less a chapter in any of my books. All I feel like doing is sleep or eat.
I try to read. My eyelids get heavy. I jolt awake when my Kindle slaps my leg.
I think I am awake and wonder who is snoring only to find it is me and the dog next to me.

A little bit of everything
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So far we’ve had a decent summer here. Yes, some days were hot but nothing like what we suffered through the last two years.
These cool nights we are having are fabulous. They make for good sleeping without the constant drone of the AC. They also save us some money too.
Yesterday, I had to run my car over for inspection and its first oil change. Yes, its first one, it finally had enough mileage.
At the same time, The Curmudgeon had a neurologist appointment. I usually take him to his appointments but had to miss this one. He’s scheduled for another MRI and a blood test.
Looks like next week The Curmudgeon’s friend will stop over and get the whole house fan set up for us. I’m so glad.
Lucy and Gavin enjoy each other although at times she gets to be too much for the old boy. That’s when he asks for someone to shut him in his crate with the help me look.

Any wood sculptors out there that want to showcase their talent?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The cemetery near me has several huge horse-chestnut trees they are taking down. There is one tall trunk left by the one gate that G and I think would make a cool sculpture. However, neither one of us has any talent in that direction.
No one could pay you for your work. However, if it is done well and beautiful it would attract huge amounts of attention, thus being great advertisement of your skills.
There is a possibility of having several more large tree trunks available if one was speedy to ask the cemetery for permission and offered the sculpts as free beautification pieces. There are three views of the trunk below.

It’s not all sunshine
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I know it would probably easier to drag myself through each day if I were medicated and numb. However, I do not want to go that route. I’ve seen how damaging that can be.
Once in a while I’ll have a glass of wine or some other drink but never more than one or two and never off into lala land. I have a need to be in control at all times.
Being drugged or drunk doesn’t work well when you have someone to take care of all the time. If The Curmudgeon falls I need to be able to help him up or, at the very least, coherently ask for help.
Twice a year I cut loose and allow myself to get a little out of control. One is over. October cannot get here fast enough this year. 😉
You all have a good one. I’m counting days.

USPS deliveries frustrating
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It seems we have a problem carrier for a substitute again. Claims were made that an item was attempted to deliver yesterday and notice left. Not so. We were home and there were no deliveries made and no notices left. We got no mail at all.
I can tell this wasn’t our regular carrier because he always delivers packages and will even check the back yard to see if I’m out there if no one answers the door. He’s also patient enough to wait for The Curmudgeon to get to the door.
I’m sure that whoever ‘tried to deliver’ our package yesterday will hear about it because I did write a note about not receiving a notice and no attempt had truly been made since we were home all day.
I do hate the laziness that so many of the mail-persons seem to have around here.

Happy 41 st Anniversary Dear Curmudgeon! May we have many more!
So sad to hear that James Garner died, he was always a favorite of mine.
I was going to change the theme on my blog today but they’ve changed it so that you can’t preview your own blog in the new theme. Not fun. I do like to see what it will look like before I make a change. Worst thing was having to change back when I didn’t like the new choice. What a mess having to redo everything.
No hummingbird today, how disappointing.
I’m so glad I bought cherries this week. They taste so good! Between The Curmudgeon and me they are going fast. How can we possibly resist them? Even the pups are mooching them.
Lucy and Gavin are crazy dogs. That is all I will say about that. Lunacy reigns in this household.
You all have a good one!

Thank a feminist if as a woman…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
You got an education.
You own property.
You vote.
You have political, economic, cultural, and social rights.
You are not chattel.
Thank them if you have no idea what chattel is…
Go read this http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/todays-young-women-have-betrayed-feminism-8660798.html
Do some real research and find out what being a feminist truly is and who the women were that worked so hard to bring your way of life to the scope it has today.
You all have a good one.

A mish mosh
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We had quite a storm pass through here last night. Lots of rain and enough thunder and lightning to cause little Lucy a bit of consternation.
Fortunately, Lucy likes to cuddle and that gave her enough security to get past the noise. I blame the idiots around here with the fireworks over the last couple of months for her reaction.
Anyone have any idea why my sage and pepper plants are looking puny? they are in pots and were looking okay at first but the last few days have not looked well. (Yes, I have watered them.) Makes me wonder because, right next to them, my tomato plants look wonderful.
You all have a good one!

Why we’ll never be rich…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We’ll never be rich because this house has always been a money pit, and will always be one. Below are the results of the last two years of hard winters and the neighbor’s leaky rain gutters.
We don’t have a close friend who is a mason and can do the repair work for cost.
We don’t have the $$ for costs because it looks as though the entire porch needs a good jack hammering and removal.
The city permits would kill our bank account.
The Curmudgeon knows nothing about masonry. I know more than he does on that subject.
Maybe we can squeeze out one more year?
You all have a good one.

To AC or not to AC… if he’s warm we AC
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We had the house opened up all day. It was so nice to have fresh air and no AC drone. Now the AC is back on because The Curmudgeon is warm. I was warm earlier and he griped when I turned the ceiling fan up a notch.
I’m feeling a double standard here.
I am so willing to pay someone to cut all the vines down in the back corner of the yard. I am exhausted from filling two trash barrels full, and there’s so much more to do.

Ruff day!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Hot weather again yesterday wore this little gal out.
G and I spent the afternoon driving out to our favorite garden shop where I found this guy just waiting for me to pick him up and take him home.
He’s hysterical and anatomically correct.
I have to do some planting tomorrow. I have eggplants, pepper plants, white sage plants, petunias, and Greek oregano.
You all have a good one!

More bits and bobs
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Wow, it did get warm yesterday. Totally put The Curmudgeon on the sidelines. When I came downstairs he told me the dogs needed to go out and he couldn’t walk anymore. He, after a few hours downstairs, went up to stay in bed. It was not a good day for him at all.
I had a doctor appointment, my every three months check. My doctor has recently had his own health problems crop up and it’s delightful that he takes it with humor. The man had me giggling like a fool with his jokes.
Lucy is not pleased with the idiots who are setting off the fireworks around here. Neither am I. Gavin doesn’t give a darn.
