Why is it no one ever wants to buy what I have to sell?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Quite a while ago, I won a lovely folk guitar. Was I ever surprised when it arrived, case and all, because I didn’t remember entering the contest.
Unfortunately, the guitar is way too big for me to play and has sat in its case since the day it arrived except for a quick trip to a local guitar shop to find out if it was worth anything.
After replacing a broken string, the owner played it. He says it has great tone and is worth about $275.00 by itself, with the nylon case he says it should go for about $300.00. Now all I need is to find someone who wants to buy it and will get many years of pleasure from it.
I guess if I can’t find an interested party, it’s off to the local guitar shop to see what they’ll give me for it. 😉
You all have a good one!

Nice day here, how was your day?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We had a lovely day yesterday and I managed to get some yard work done before my back decided it was time to quit. The Curmudgeon even mowed the grass without having to wear his ice vest.
While digging through stuff in the cellar, The Curmudgeon came across some work lights he never used and had me give them to our neighbor’s son. He’s such a good kid and always helps us when he can.
I have two small projects coming up for him. Building a new ramp at the gate for The Curmudgeon and carrying down a large whole house fan from the attic for the trash. No way can I carry that sucker downstairs.
I do wish I could get a new whole house fan installed up in the attic. On a cool night, the old one could cool the entire house in minutes.
Now I need to figure out how I’ll get the interior or this house fixed up and painted. (Sigh) This getting older business is not for cowards.

I can’t wait for the tomatoes to start coming in.

Yes, I’m pushing it since I only got them into the pots two days ago. Speaking of which, I need to go buy two more large pots. I ran out of room and still have some basil, rosemary, and peppers to plant.
The Curmudgeon has agreed to go to a store with me today. I’m not sure if he will actually go in the store or wait in the car but at least he’s going to leave the house.
The sunflowers and geraniums that I planted in the pots on the front porch yesterday look nice. I also loaded some Texas Bluebonnet seeds into the pots. If they grow, I’ll get a nice bit of blue in each planter.
I’ve dumped the soil I took out of all the pots into the garden by the pond. The ground there can use some better soil.
Once I finish the planting, I need to get my car over to the dealer for a recall and her first check up. She now has a bit over eight hundred miles on her.

I wouldn’t want to be a kid today, it doesn’t seem near as fun.

My childhood wasn’t spent with all the sharp corners padded. None of our vehicles had seat belts. We went outside, played hard, and got downright filthy.
We didn’t sass our parents, we didn’t treat any adults with anything other than respect. We said yes sir and yes ma’am. Our neighbors weren’t afraid to discipline us and we would NEVER use foul language towards them.
We drank from the hose. We skinned our knees, rode bikes and horses without helmets, and climbed trees. When our parents hollered our names we ran home as if the devil were on our tails.
The neighborhood kids would gather together and we played hide and seek, red light green light, freeze tag, Red Rover, and many other active games.
We stayed outside until the street lights came on, and then we would have to be in our own yard where we could continue to play until bed time. We pushed ourselves to our limits and slept like logs at night.
We had fun and we survived.

Stranger Spring than last year’s.

My new mouse. The only Ferrari I’ll ever own. LOL!
Yes, I know I’m weird but you must have fun where you can get it.
I can’t believe how chilly it got yesterday. I wore my hoodie to take the dogs out and they weren’t eager to stay outside for long. Nope, they wanted to snuggle with me on the couch. It makes me glad I haven’t planted anything yet. Here I was worrying about that, not anymore!
At least the cool air had The Curmudgeon feeling fairly chipper, for him that is, his chipper is someone else’s not so good.
Time for me to go snuggle with the pups again. You all have a good one!

That’s a wrap!

Had a good time with Annie at the Holistic Expo and came home with a gorgeous silver and amber ring, and a lovely amethyst geode.
When we left there, we were starved since we hadn’t had any lunch. We headed to one place nearby that always has good food at a great prices but they were closed. Dang, I forgot they weren’t open on a Sunday.
Decided to make a mall run then since we knew all the restaurants out there were open and I had promised her a decent lunch. Albeit a late one.
Found some new flip-flops on sale…silly ones, with pink flamingos on the straps. Skelemingos would’ve been more fun but they’d never have that.

Sniff…did you smell that?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
One thing I’ve noticed since I quit smoking is my sense of smell is even sharper. All those years I smoked, I still had a better sense of smell than a lot of people, but now I am amazed with how acute it is.
(As careful as he is to keep people from noticing it, my cardiologist is a smoker. The scent was very faint but it was there. He doesn’t know that I know.)
Walking through the farmers market is a fragrance filled adventure. I love the perfume of good food. The scent of fresh fruits, smoked meats, roasted chickens, pizza, pickles, fresh breads and other baked goods, cheeses… oh my! I should wear a bib to keep me from drooling on the various cases we pass by traversing from one end to another.
I do not love the stink of people who bathe in perfumes or aftershave. Dial it back people, you are migraine inducing idiots! I am fortunate that my migraines are not triggered by perfumes. However, I have many friends who do have their migraines triggered by perfume. The only thing that triggers my migraines these days are petroleum products.
Remember to stop and smell the flowers. You all have a good one!
Updating the week
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I’ve put the fairy tale on its own page and will add to as I can. You will find it up above amongst the other pages.
The Curmudgeon skipped his Avonex this week and is getting around better. He actually felt energetic enough to mow the lawn. Go fig. I do believe it is time his neurologist switched him to some other form of beta-seron.
The dogs are getting much more exercise now with the new fence and, as a result, are sleeping more deeply. You should hear the snoring here.
You all have a good one!
(This picture was taken last summer as you can tell by the old not dog proof fence.)

Sheeee’s baaack!

Every year a dove nests here. For years they made messy attempts to but couldn’t make it work. Finally, several years ago, The Curmudgeon put that plastic shelf up for them.
Momma’s on her second nesting this year…
You all have a good one.
An unplanned life
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So we managed to survive day before yesterday and yesterday was a bit of an improvement. The Curmudgeon’s walking had improved and he was able to function. I never did make it to the gym, grocery store, or the farmers market.
If you haven’t noticed or read about it here before, we seldom make plans. I know that if we do make plans, something around here is bound to change them. If it isn’t The Curmudgeon changing our plans, it is the dogs.
It makes for a strange life, but it is our life an unplanned life for certain.
I do think the dogs had a plan for whatever it was they were mooching from The Curmudgeon…

I accomplished absolutely nothing yesterday…again.

Ever have one of those days where you pop out of bed all eager and ready to embrace the day and get things done? Yeah, I don’t either.
I don’t know about you but I tend to look at the clock, roll over, and try to get ‘a few more minutes’ in. If I’m lucky, those few more minutes turn into maybe a half hour and some good dreaming. I’m seldom lucky.
Normally, I hear The Curmudgeon fussing at the dogs or moaning and groaning about heaven knows what on the TV. That will definitely make you want to roll over and squeeze out a few minutes or hours of more sleep.
When I do drag my over-tired, over-stressed corpse out of bed, I try to put off going downstairs a while longer by doing some Yoga. I somehow miss out on finding Nirvana though…If you ever do find it let me know what it was like.

Waiting for checks
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I wonder if the people I owe money to would believe that the reason I haven’t sent them any checks is because I ran out and I am waiting for some to get here?
It’s true and I feel like quite the twit about it. I meant to reorder them, I really did, but things in this house never seem to fall on the sane side. I forgot. I completely forgot all about them.
You all have a good one.
