Almost ready for summer.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Wow, a sunny but cool day. I managed to get some more yard work done yesterday. Trimmed several small, low hanging branches from the magnolia tree so The Curmudgeon can walk under it without banging his head.
I’ve run out of yard waste barrel space so have to wait until after recycling pick up to clear out more.
Enjoyed watching the two frogs bask in the sun on a slab of slate beside my Pan fountain. They would sit there for a while then dive into the pond and go back to the slab. Sounds like something I should have been doing…Maybe… if had been warmer.
I dragged the picnic table out of the shed and put the legs on it. Put the end table out by the bench too so the yard is getting there. Next, I tackle the hammock stand and hammock.
I still need to clear out the vines from the back corner of the yard and next to the shed. Then I need to spray weed killer outside the fence.
You all have a good one.

Goliath has returned!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I am enjoying the new look on my blog. Several people have told me that they like it too.
I have two frogs in my pond. Yes, the pond is still there since we haven’t a clue as to how we’re going to fill it in yet.
I was outside talking to my next door neighbor when he told me he heard my frog earlier. I told him I accidentally discovered that I have two frogs.
I thought we only had the one until I was pulling aggressively growing mint from the little river between the waterfall and the pond. I startled a familiar looking large bullfrog, and he was not the one I knew we had who I could see sitting on a nearby rock.
I am enjoying the frog songs.
You all have a good one!

Lucious Lilacs.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Two steps out the back door and the marvelous fragrance of lilacs overwhelms me. Heaven. I have miniature lilac bushes some in the front of the yard and some in the back, and then I have a regular lilac in the side garden. All are in full and heavy bloom.

My cardiologist appointment went very well. He is extremely pleased with me. I don’t go back to him again for another 6 months. Yay!
Yeah, it does need weeding.
You all have a good one!

Lovely day in the 80s yesterday
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The frog is in the house! I was out working around the pond yesterday and our frog decided to make an appearance. We also have a garter snake in residence. Of course where there’s one garter snake there are usually more. I don’t mind them.
Lovely day yesterday…

Interesting birds showed up yesterday

I was rather surprised to see two downy woodpeckers and a lovely little nuthatch had decided that our tulip poplar needed an inspection. This was the best shot I could get from the kitchen window.
You all have a good one!
More changes

Sometime in the late 1980’s, The Curmudgeon dug the hole for our pond. He used a pick and shovel to do it.
It was summer, so my mother was visiting us. She would sit outside, watch him work, and cheer him on.
When we bought the liner, pumps, filters, and our lovely Pan fountain, Mother insisted on buying the waterfall. She so looked forward to seeing the finished pond.
We worked all summer to get it finished and before she left to go back to Texas, we had it done. For years afterwards she loved to sit out by the pond and watch the fish.
My baby sister loved to sit by the pond too. When she visited we would spend as much time in the yard as we could.
With the change of the water feature in our yard the memories of them enjoying my pond will not fade. We’ll be creating new memories.
You all have a good one!
