Warm December again.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Indian summer in December? I can live with it. It hit 64 here yesterday and I was out in a t-shirt with no jacket. Our back porch was colder than the outdoors. LOL!
Today the forecast is for similar temperatures. How lovely! Especially since the long-range forecast is calling for snow at by the twenty-fifth.
If I remember correctly, we were fairly warm here last December too. Some people have the audacity to say there’s no global warming. Yea, right.
You all have a good one! I intend to.

Sending good vibes to all our neighbors who are worse off than we are…

As we watch news reports on all the devastation Sandy the Frankenstorm wrought, we count our blessings. Please keep those who were hard hit in you thoughts and prayers.
We lost a few tree branches, had some minor fence damage, and had some water in the basement. We got off easy.
You all have a good one.

We’ve muddled through
Posted by doggonedmysteries
After high winds and lots of rain we feel lucky that all we had, was some water in the basement, a few branches down from both the magnolia and tulip poplar trees, some panels of the solid fencing blown out, and a few center cross pieces knocked down on the side fence. It could have been a lot worse.
I’ve heard that a few friends have had entire trees fall down and crush vehicles. Ouch. Floods swept through many areas, so a wet basement in comparison is nothing.
Our electricity went off and on several times, enough that I stayed off the computer rather than risk having it on when the electric went out. Nothing compared to those who are still without electricity. We were lucky.
We still have rain.
The dogs were not amused with this weather.
You all have a good one.

In the path of Sandy the Frankenstorm

I have tied down anything outside that could blow away with the exception of our fencing. If that blows away we’re screwed. The fencing company that put it in is no longer in business.
Once the heavy-duty winds and rains hit us the dogs will decide they no longer want to go outside. I will have to shove them out the back door.
I hope everyone weathers this storm safely. I may not be on here for a few days if we lose power, and if that happens, I will see you all ASAP.
Stay safe! You all have a good one!

Brrrr, it’s chilly.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Wow, finally had to turn the heat on. It got danged cold and damp in here. Turned out to be a perfect night to make chicken fried steak, red-eye gravy, mashed potatoes, and beans for dinner. The Curmudgeon was a very happy camper.
The dogs are loving the cool weather. Gavin is a total idiot these days, he’s hucklebutting all the time. Patty , well she’s her normal reserved and quiet self. I really love it when she gets silly, forgets herself, and hucklebutts. That’s when you see her fun side that she tries to hide.
The cooler weather also helps The Curmudgeon feel somewhat better. I’m hoping it means we’ll have more good days now for a while.
As for me, well I’m not very fond of cold weather and that’s what will soon follow this so I’m not thrilled.
You all have a good one and stay warm enough.

Hoodie weather has arrived
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The weather turned chilly last night. With temperatures dropping down to 41 degrees I finally got a chance to wear my new hoodie when I took the dogs out for their last out of the night.
I can now tell how worn out my old one was. The new one is so much warmer! Plus I do love this picture on mine…
The Curmudgeon will be pleased in the morning when he takes the pups out while wearing his new hoodie. He’s usually cold even when I think it’s warm.
You all have a good one!

It’s chilly outside
Posted by doggonedmysteries
With the temperatures dipping down into the high to mid forties at night, I dragged out my only zippered hoodie to wear to take the dogs out. Oh my goodness, it is all stretched out, thin, and very dingy looking. Definitely past time for a new one.
Therefore, I went to my favorite t-shirt, sweat-shirt, fun place http://www.cafepress.com and found one I liked. Of course five minutes after I ordered mine The Curmudgeon wakes up, comes downstairs, sees mine, and asks me to order him one. Can you tell which shirt is mine and which one is his?

I you plan to order something from Cafe Press, contact me beforehand since I have several coupons.
You all have a good one!

Bada BOOM!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Off and on yesterday it threatened to rain, but the real thunderstorm didn’t arrive until almost seven-thirty p.m. Interrupting my work in the gardens. Not a good idea to stand under a tree holding a long aluminum pole during a thunderstorm. I quickly put my gardening tools away and went inside. Although it thundered and lightning flashed across the sky, this storm wasn’t as violent as the last one.
Yes, we were spared the Bada BOOM and hitting of the tree this time.
You all have a good one!

Accck!!!!

Air so thick and so hot you can’t suck in a breath without feeling as though you were sucking on a stove-pipe. This isn’t summer this is hell, this is Texas not Pennsylvania weather. If I wanted Texas weather I’d move there. As you can see I don’t live there and after living there once, I have no desire to EVER live there again. Some of us Yankees like the north and don’t transplant well.
To my friends, what few I have in that state, I say sorry. It is my truth that I hope to never darken the state line there again in my lifetime and my afterlife.
There’s a song “All my exes are in Texas” which sort of describes it well enough. No, I’m not divorced. I’ve only ever been married to The Curmudgeon. If you know me, you know… ;D
You all have a good one and stay cool.

Really? More rain?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
All I can say is holy crap! Another day of very little sunshine mixed with many thunderstorms and lots of rain. I may never get a chance to snooze in my hammock again. One day of sunshine in two weeks is a good reason for getting a life raft.
My basement may never be dry again. If I set up the hammock stand, it will likely sink up to its hooks. When you walk in the back of the yard the mud sucks at your shoes like a black hole. There has been so much mud tracked in that I could grow crops on the back porch floor.
I swear the Koi have made a mud slide from the pond to the yard.
You all have a good one. I’m just hoping for a dry one.
I’m growing mold
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Another day of sprinkling rain and a night of torrential downpours. The yard is once again a lake. The Koi are thinking of going exploring I swear I saw little back packs being packed in the pond.
The house smells of wet dogs and there are muddy footprints everywhere. I wish we would have more than two days in a row without rain. One day of sun doesn’t even begin to dry things out.
I swear I’m growing mold or is it moss?
