Okay, I’m done with the cold already.

For some reason I seem to be very sensitive to the cold all of a sudden. Before, I didn’t like the cold but wasn’t sensitive to it. Less than five minutes outside and my shoulder and hands began to ache like crazy.

Yesterday I had to grab gloves and put up my hood just to take the dogs out for a quick pee. Color me very unhappy. If this keeps up I doubt I’ll make it through the winter with an ounce of sanity.

At least we didn’t get snow like they did in upper NY state. All we got was a lot of wind.

The wind stripped our trees bare and I’ll be back outside working on leaves this coming weekend when it is warmer.

You all have a good one and stay warm.

HPIM4214Doesn’t look like this now…I’ll snap a few pictures when it is a bit warmer.

Big weather heading our way

Watching the weather forecast for today and I’m sure we’re going to have two bored and, at times, very wet dogs.

Thank goodness we have the attic and back porch windows closed and almost ready for winterization. That will come a bit later, for now we’ll go with closed, and the porch windows will reopen every warm day we have left.

With the rains comes mud. Makes me glad I hadn’t got around to mopping the kitchen and living room floors yet.

I did get more of the porch cleaned yesterday. Still have some to go if only I could get rid of a certain rocking chair that I don’t need.

Another cha cha in our lives

Wow, fabulous weather! Mid 70’s to low 80s during the day with low humidity and down into the mid to low sixties at night. I could live with this all year round. 🙂 This weather is very good for The Curmudgeon too.

We are now in the process of trying to get an appointment with a neurosurgeon for The Curmudgeon. Not an easy thing to do since they are few and far between and booked up. His Neurologist saw his MRI and tells us he has severe damage at T-10. No wonder he’s had such pain and trouble getting up when he’s fallen. If this is repairable, maybe he’ll improve both physically and in spirit for a time.

Now to sit back with a nice cup of coffee and a good book.

You all have a good one!

Swamp dog…NOT!

When they built the apartment building behind us, they didn’t care that they let the run off go through our yard.  Yes folks, we have a veritable river going through our yard during heavy rains.

I don’t think Lucy likes swamps. She wasn’t thrilled with the soggy yard after all the heavy rain last evening. Maybe she’d like some galoshes. I wonder if I can get her some to match mine?

HPIM2590     Gavin doesn’t mind the swampy grass and all the mud. The proof is in the footprints on my kitchen floor. I think he goes out of his way to find the mud. He likes to make happy puppy prints on the floors.

You all have a good one and…stay dry.

Wet weather

Lots of rain brought flooding to many areas around here. We’re lucky, our house is on a high point. Even so, our basement got wet. The ground is so saturated there’s no place for it to drain.

The poor pups were very unhappy campers with more rain yesterday. I think Patty is feeling waterlogged. Gavin would look out the back door at the pouring rain,  heave a big sigh, then go out three steps into the yard, and pee as fast as he could.

The wet weather is making The Curmudgeon miserable. He’s had to take break through pain medications for the last three days.

As I listen to the rain start once again, I am looking forward to a couple of sunny days.

You all have a good one.

HPIM3581Mom says we won’t melt in the rain, but we don’t believe her.

Lighting candles for our neighbors in the midwest

burning-candles

Tornadoes have once again ripped through several states and cities. Our thoughts are with our neighbors. May the days get easier, the storms fewer, and may relief, shelter, love and comfort come quickly to you all.

Let the walks begin.

We had a gorgeous sunny and warm day yesterday. So lovely it was that I popped over to G’s to suggest going for a walk. Seems she had the same idea and was just going to come to my house. LOL!

I drove us over to the park where we had a lovely walk.  Met a few nice people and dogs and enjoyed listening to the birds as we walked by trees just beginning to wake up for Spring.

Happily, I didn’t get winded at all on our walk as I feared I would. We are both looking forward to many more walks.

You all have a good one!

Record cold! NO!!!!

yard scrabbleI want to work in the yard. I want to build this!

I want warm weather, not record cold.

Yes, I am whining.

I have had enough cold weather.

Make. It. Stop.

Nooooooooooooooo! More snooooooow!

Thank goodness, even though it snowed all afternoon and is still snowing…this is all we got.

HPIM3700WHEW!!

Is it here?

HPIM2906At this point, I have no idea when my tree is going to look like this again. The buds are small and tight to the branches yet. With this cold weather hitting us again, it may be a while.

March came in like a lion and looks like it will also leave like one. Seriously? Snow on Tuesday?

Here’s hoping that April arrives on gentle, warm breezes.

You all have a good one.

Spring?

Welcome to swamp. Yes, as usual, we are now in Spring swamp mode. It drizzled all day and then by nightfall it began to pour. The dogs do not want to go out, they think they are made of sugar and they’ll melt.

Even though we’re supposed to have a couple of days of nice weather, directly behind that is another taste of winter.  Boo.

HPIM3584

Warm with rain…bye bye snow. Or is it?

HPIM3690Day was rainy and warm.

HPIM3689Snow melted like crazy.

HPIM3687Fast melting snow and our yard =?

MUD

HPIM3688Temperature plummets, winds kick up to 40 Mph, and rain turns to snow? Only advantage I see is the possibility of the ground drying some. I REALLY NEED a patio here.

You all have a good one!
