RIP Valerie Malmont
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Valerie Malmont died yesterday. She befriended me at the very first Pennwriters Conference I attended. When she did book signings anywhere near me, I made sure to stop in and see her. If I didn’t have the book she had out that day, I’d buy it and she’d sign it for me.
I have all her books. You can find them here: http://www.amazon.com/Valerie-S.-Malmont/e/B000APVJLE
I love you Valerie and I will miss you dear friend. I am very sad today. The world is dimmer since this lovely bright light went out.
Valerie made a lovely Princess Ozma at the costume ball Pennwriters 2008
That’s me next to her dressed as one of my favorite books “The Last Camel Died At Noon”

Oh, Crap. Snow.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
If you had seen the dogs go out in the yard last night with the bit of wet snow on the ground, believe me you would have giggled as much as I did.
Gavin trotted out and looked almost delighted with the rain and snow mix. I expected that.
Lucy, however, I had no idea what to expect from her. She hates rain…but she sort of liked the snow…but she hates rain. Yeah, that’s about what she was like.
You all have a good one. I’m hoping this dusting or should I say, because it is so wet, frosting, is all we get with this storm.
I’m already wishing for spring

Oh, my goodness! If I hadn’t had the use of my Tens machine yesterday I wouldn’t be moving as well as I am today. It is a real blessing.
If you are looking for me today, I’ll be outside running the leaf blower and raking. My nice clean yard is all full of leaves again. I swear there are twice as many in the driveway. I remember now why fall is not a favorite season–too much work involved and I am, basically, a very lazy person.
Too bad I can’t split myself into two people, then I could clean the house while I worked in the yard.
You all have a good one!

Yep, it’s fall.

Fall is here for sure. I spent yesterday afternoon outside raking and using the leaf blower. Holy cow! I was beyond beat and dehydrated when I finally finished. I do believe some very sore muscles are in my near future.
Lucy hates that her leaves are gone. She won’t stay that way for long because the trees still have plenty to give her. She loves to combat crawl through the leaves.
For now, you all have a good one and enjoy some of our fall colors.

I got kicked off the couch
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Someone decided that my spot was hers. All I did was go down into the basement to fold clothes and returned to find Lucy had not only moved over into my spot, but she had commandeered my pillow too.
And she has the nerve to give the stink eye when I snap a few pictures.

Theraputic dog snuggling
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I had plans to get some housework done this weekend. As usual, with any plans I make, that fell through. Instead I spent all day yesterday spoiling the dogs and reading.
Why did I do that? Well, I woke up with a cranky back so I figured rather than cause it more strain I’d put the Tens machine on it and relax. By night-time, my back felt pretty darned good.
I do love my little Tens machine. http://therapulse.com/
You all have a good one. I’m going to go back to cuddling with Lucy.

Looking forward to a quiet weekend.

Lots of running around yesterday. Damned tiring.
G and I stopped at one mall, then ran to Target, then the farmers market. At least, through the use of a recently found on my desk amongst the piles of crap Starbucks gift card, we got to enjoy large salted caramel mocha cappuccinos on our travels.
I think I’ll spend the weekend at home. There are many things I need to get caught up with.
You all have a good one. I think I’ll join Lucy on the couch.

Busy day yesterday and sad day today.

Yesterday I took Gavin to the vet for his yearly check up. All things taken into account (such as his age) he is in good health. The appointment with all the tests cleaned out any extra cash I may have had this month.
So much for a big Thanksgiving dinner. We didn’t need it anyway. I’ll make a simple chicken dinner with Stove Top Stuffing, gravy, a veggie, and some cranberry sauce. The Curmudgeon will be happy. I won’t be stressed…yep, it’s perfect.
Last but not least, Today would’ve been Mary’s 57th birthday, she was born on my parent’s anniversary. Love you kiddo, I will always miss you. Happy 78th anniversary Mom and Dad. I miss you both every day.
You all have a good one.
Sometimes it pays to do a bit of desk cleaning

Some days it pays to tidy your desk. I found a $15.00 Starbucks gift card I forgot I had. I went online to check and see the balance and it is all there and available.
Dang, had I’d known this the other day G and I would’ve enjoyed a nice cappuccino.
Now we have this to look forward to next time we go to Target or the mall again. Whoohoo!
G pointed out this pillow to me when we were in a little store in the mall. Yes, it had to come home with me.
You all have a good one and I hope you get a pleasant surprise today too.
Keep Momma away from Halloween stuff sales.

The leaves are getting deep around here.

I am so glad I snapped this picture the other day before the tree lost any more leaves. This is our sweet gum tree.
The magnolia and tulip tree are dropping their leaves like crazy. Yep, it is fall for sure.
Then out front we have a street full of maple trees and they are all rapidly dropping their colorful clothes. Every time I open the front door I have to sweep the porch clear of leaves or they track in.
You all have a good one!
