Already?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
That came around fast! I can’t believe I have to go get my driver’s license renewed already. At least they send it to you early enough to plan on having the hair cut before getting the picture done.
Seems like I just had it done. Last time the picture was worse than the time before I looked like a rotting hairball. I hope this time it’s better because I’ll be stuck with it until 2018.
Does anyone ever like their driver’s license picture? Do you like yours?
You all have a good one.

Face Off, a new season.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I shouldn’t have been surprised that Face Off immediately addicted me the first season. I love watching the creation of creatures and characters.
Last night a new season began and thanks to the DVR and being able to set a reminder and have it even switch to the channel I didn’t miss it.
Looking forward to the next episodes.
Happy Birthday Curmudgeon!!!

Old memories.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I remember the time my Dad broke his leg. An enthusiastic airman had waxed the heck out of the chapel floor and Dad happened to unknowingly stride on the glass like surface. From the telling of it, it seems that Dad went for quite a sail.
Laid up in bed for a time, he was a great source of amusement for his daughters. We’d never had him home all day every day. Heck, there were times he’d be gone for weeks, traveling off to some exotic place from where he’d bring us each a doll. (I’ll never see them again.)
We got to read to him for a change. I’m sure he was very happy when his leg healed and he could escape back into the real word.

Migraines suck.

“I’ll tell them.”
“No, let me.”
“You got to last time.”
“We can both tell them.”
“Momma has a migraine. She hasn’t had one in years. She will see you all tomorrow.”

Pouring rain and dogs…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Not a good mix, at least around here. The Curmudgeon had a rough time shoving them outside in the morning. Neither one wanted to brave the very wet outdoors. Bull Terriers think they might melt in the rain. It’s easier to get them out in a blizzard.
When I got up, they were down for their naps. Every day without fail they insist on their naps…well, at least Gavin does. He will scream at you until you close his crate door and cover him.
They were slow getting up from their naps too. Could it be because it was still pouring and they knew they’d have to go out again? You betcha!

Ah yes, more lovely weather
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It snowed all night, when I woke it was still snowing, not much accumulation though. Long day of snow, no snow, rain, fog and now freezing rain.
Please, please, please tell me Spring is almost here. Hell, lie to me! I don’t care. I do not like this weather.

I’ll buy stuff but…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I have serious doubts as to me ever doing another online auction as a donator of items, at least not in the winter months.
We had more delays in getting the stuff in the mail than I care to admit. The weather being a major portion of the hold ups. Blizzard, icy roads, and the temperature dipping below freezing.
The last delay was the cold knocking my van’s battery out of commission and leaving me stranded. Finally got the car going and managed to get the packages in the mail.

The high yesterday was 21…

Which is where it is now. Wow, we’re having a heat wave!
I think I’ll hibernate until spring. I hate this weather. You all have a good one. I think I’ll build a snowman…

Lately I’ve been watching the strangest TV shows
Posted by doggonedmysteries
One of my favorites is Dr. Pol. Watching a vet make farm calls and take care of small animals. I worked for vet for a while. The clinic was only for small animals, I think a clinic like Dr. Pol’s presents more challenges for sure. I love National Geo Wild channel.
I also enjoy watching the Science channel. Morgan Freeman narrating anything is great.
I’ve also discovered that I don’t care for a lot of shows on a lot of channels. That’s to be expected, I’m not a TV nut like The Curmudgeon.

A little fish tale
Posted by doggonedmysteries
When I managed the pet store I had a regular customer who we kept supplied with goldfish of a certain color and size, one at a time. No matter how well we instructed her on the care and feeding of goldfish, her son managed to kill about one a week.
After the third week, she explained it to me.
You see her son had Down’s syndrome and took great enjoyment in feeding his little pet. Yes, he fed the fish several times a day and no matter how often she changed the water, eventually the poor over-fed fish would die. She would sneak the tiny corpse out and replace it with a live fish while he was at school.
When she would come in for a new fish, I would sort through a huge tank of goldfish to find one the right shade of orange. We would joke about what number Finter this one was.
Would you have the heart to tell the sweet boy that he killed his fish? My weekly hunt for a new Finter was easy much easier than her job would be if he ever caught on.
You all have a good one and stay warm!

Rain on top of snow makes ice and slush.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It’s true! My driveway and sidewalks are covered in ice. The yard is ice and slush much to the dogs consternation.
The temperature is 36 degrees at present. Yeah, that’s real fun… rain on top of ice and snow also makes fog.
Here’s hoping all this crappy weather gets out of here fast.

Yeah, he won’t be driving my car anytime soon.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
“How the bleeeeep do you start your car?” First thing I heard yesterday before my coffee.
“Easily.” I poured a cup full of coffee, stuck it in the microwave to heat it, and smiled at him.
“No, seriously. How do you start your car? I was going to warm it up and clean it off but I couldn’t start it.”
“You push the button.”
“I did, it wouldn’t start.”
“What?” Now I was worried. I grabbed my key fob. “See this button? You push it twice to start it from here.” I pushed the button, the car started. I sighed with relief. “Did you do that?”
“No, I was sitting in the passenger seat and pushed the button on the dash, and it wouldn’t start.”
“Um, that’s a safety feature. If you aren’t in the driver’s seat with your foot on the brake, pushing the button will do nothing.”
I love my van!
