Our hearts are with Boston

You can run, but you can’t hide.  You will be found and punished for what you did.

An unplanned life

So we managed to survive day before yesterday and yesterday was a bit of an improvement.  The Curmudgeon’s walking had improved and he was able to function.  I never did make it to the gym, grocery store, or the farmers market.

If you haven’t noticed or read about it here before, we seldom make plans.  I know that if we do make plans, something around here is bound to change them.  If it isn’t The Curmudgeon changing our plans, it is the dogs.

It makes for a strange life, but it is our life an unplanned life for certain.

I do think the dogs had a plan for whatever it was they were mooching from The Curmudgeon…

We continue on, one day and one step at a time

It scares me to death when The Curmudgeon has a bad spell.   He had a particularly bad one yesterday.

He was on the floor and I couldn’t get him up.  I hurt my back trying to do it.  Finally, I called the neighbor for help.  We were fortunate he was home and responded.

With me already an emotional wreck, this bad spell sent me over the edge. While the neighbor helped him, I fell apart in the kitchen, well away from them so The Curmudgeon couldn’t see me.

I know he’s frustrated when these things happen.  I am too.  There’s no light on the horizon either, and yet we plod on.

No fresh veggies yesterday…but there’s always today

Plans to go to the gym yesterday fell through. When I called G, no one was home.  I figured they were running very late at the grocery store.  So much for the gym, the grocery store, and a stop at the farmers market on the way home.  I thought maybe I’d do the grocery store and farmers market run a little after noon.

Later on, after I got busy doing a few things around the house, I looked at the clock, and I realized that by then it was too late for me to go to the farmers market and grocery store.  I refuse to shop anywhere near three in the afternoon with all the mommies and their cranky kids and it was ten after three.

I’ll go to the farmers market and grocery store today.  I need fresh veggies and a few other things.

Lovely day in the 80s yesterday

Screaming frog

The frog is in the house!  I was out working around the pond yesterday and our frog decided to make an appearance.  We also have a garter snake in residence.   Of course where there’s one garter snake there are usually more.  I don’t mind them.

After dinner romp…they are so silly!

Another sucky diet book…

I’m so glad I didn’t pay for it.  It was a freebie on my Kindle.  I really hate these so-called diet books that are nothing but a sermon and insane, difficult to follow instructions or formulas.  OH, PLEASE!!!

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I pick up a diet book to find menus and meals that are healthy and weight reducing.  I do not pick a diet book up to have a lecture on my health that I already know needs improvement.  Um, if I wasn’t concerned about my health would I be looking at diet books?

I really don’t care why you wrote a book on dieting when you don’t include any menus or meals.  I have enough on my mind.  I do not have the energy or the time to figure out your crazy formulas.

I would kill to find the handwritten menus I have lost somewhere in my house, or something comparable.  They were to a diet that actually worked like a dream.  A very balanced diet that melted the pounds off me so nicely many years ago and kept them off for a very long time.  I need those handwritten pages back…sob.

I’m going to tackle the file cabinet in the attic once again on the off-chance that I somehow missed the pages the last fifty times I searched it.

You all have a good one.

A new toy in the kitchen

I ordered a bacon/grill press last week.  It arrived yesterday.  I tested it last night on our breakfast for dinner, dinner.   I made sausage patties and French toast.  These sausage patties are what we get from Five Star Foods.  I love them but I never liked how they’d curl up.  I’d have to snip them four or five times around the edges to keep them flat.

The press worked nicely.  I am pleased, now I can’t wait to use it with my grill pan.  Oh, the paninis and other goodies I will make!

You all have a good one!

Another piece of the fairy tale

Mavelle checked her boot and was pleased to find her knife was still safe inside its sheath.  “At least the troll hadn’t the wits to search me.  We have your slingshots and my knife.  I wish this were the crystal knife though.”  Her heart lurched in her chest.  “Cragger!  I hope he’s alive.”

Lovena sniffed.  “Last night was cold.  Tonight will be colder.  Can you start a fire?”

“Yes, I have a flint in the handle of my knife.”  Mavelle set to work lighting a fire.  Before long, they had a crackling good one going.

Sarah stood close to the fire rubbing her hands together.  “I thought I’d never be warm again.”

Mavelle and Lovena sat next to each other; Lovena rested her head on her sister’s shoulder and asked, “Will we get out of here?”

     “We will.”

Sarah scoffed.  “How can you be so sure of that?”

“Because as long as I have a breath in me, as long as my heart beats in my chest, I will try to get us home.  Unlike you, dear sister.”  Mavelle spat those last words out.

I accomplished absolutely nothing yesterday…again.

Ever have one of those days where you pop out of bed all eager and ready to embrace the day and get things done?  Yeah, I don’t either.

I don’t know about you but I tend to look at the clock, roll over, and try to get ‘a few more minutes’ in.  If I’m lucky, those few more minutes turn into maybe a half hour and some good dreaming.  I’m seldom lucky.

Normally, I hear The Curmudgeon fussing at the dogs or moaning and groaning about heaven knows what on the TV.  That will definitely make you want to roll over and squeeze out a few minutes or hours of more sleep.

When I do drag my over-tired, over-stressed corpse out of bed, I try to put off going downstairs a while longer by doing some Yoga.  I somehow miss out on finding Nirvana though…If you ever do find it let me know what it was like.

You all have a good one!
