If they can’t teach good sportsmanship, maybe they should get rid of sports.

After game violence again. I find this revolting.
I for one think there is too much emphasis on sports and too little on the sciences, maths, literature, the arts and music. Maybe if top science, math, and literature students were treated more like the premium students they really are we’d have more nerds, fewer jocks, and an incredible number of intelligent people walking about.
Please, please, please let there be more emphasis put on learning than playing games.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if a child’s hero was a scientist, mathematician, literati, Artist, or a musician rather than some clown who makes millions running around playing with a ball?
Please, hand your child a book instead of sports equipment…we need smarter kids.
You all have a good one.
TV, crap as usual…

Man, could TV possibly get any worse? I am so glad that some of my favorite off-channel shows are coming back on. What they are running on the big three is pure garbage.
Hooray for TNT, Syfy, USA, History and the Science channel. Without them, The Curmudgeon would drive me up a wall and around the bend. (Yes, a very short trip for me these days.)
Are you also being driven crazy by the lack of decent TV?
You all have a good one!

Blessed
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I am not going to discuss the tragedies of yesterday. More than enough discussion has already been done all over the news and the internet. Let the healing begin.
Let us look into the blessings in our own lives. Did you wake up today? So did I and I am blessed because I did. Did you have enough to eat? I did and I am blessed because I am not hungry.
Did you have someone tell you they loved you? I did and I told him I loved him too. If you have children, did you hug them today? I don’t have kids but I did hug my dogs.
I took a walk…
I breathed fresh air…
I drove my car…
I E-mailed my friends…
My home is warm…
Yes, we are blessed.

Spoiled brat of a dog.

I had to laugh at Gavin yesterday. It seems that he fussed so much in his crate when The Curmudgeon came down in the morning, that TC took him out right away instead of making Gavin wait until his meds kicked in.
When nap time rolled around Gavin went into his crate only to fuss like crazy five minutes later. I figured it out. He only had his crate mat and no towel to roll up in. Poor baby!
I threw a towel into the crate and within seconds he began to snore.

Mish mosh of subjects.

The vitamin D seems to have done some good for The Curmudgeon. I did have him take extra on Tuesday and Wednesday he seemed to do very well. I’m looking forward to seeing if we get the same or better results next week.
Gavin has decided that it’s okay to yank my arm out of the socket when I take him out on the retractable leash. I put him back on a six-foot long training lead again. He’s not thrilled but at least the rest of the day he didn’t yank my arm off.
Patty didn’t want to play with Gavin today, she wanted to cuddle with her Daddy instead.

Vitamin D improvement a fluke or for real?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The Curmudgeon was having real bad Tuesdays after he had his Avonex shot on Monday nights. So, we tried something new this week. After he had his shot, he took a double dose of vitamin D 1000 mg.
Surprise, he had a good Tuesday this week. Wow. Okay, now in hopes that this isn’t a wild fluke, he’ll repeat it next week.
Keep your fingers crossed that we found a way around his bad Tuesdays.
You all have a good one!

What is in the tapestry of your life?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
As we grow from childhood, to adult, and on to old age we weave a tapestry of a life, one would hope, that is well lived.
Each experience we have, lesson learned, and sorrow survived adds color and texture. The weave is either intricate or simple. The tapestry is long, short or somewhere in between.
I hope mine grows longer, more intricate, and continues to add plenty of texture and color.
What is your tapestry like?

A little piece of heaven in NY

I do love these girls. I have great hopes of going to visit them next summer if all goes well here. This is one my favorite places in all the world.
I often think of how nice it would be to have a little cottage not far from Newfane or another nearby town. Maybe even on the lake in Olcott.
The only thing that holds me back is that The Curmudgeon’s doctors are all here and he doesn’t adapt to change well anymore.
It sure would be nice to live near all my cousins and their families.

If my words offend thee–look elsewhere.

Okay, I will probably offend anyone in the nursing profession. So if you like me, and you are or were in the nursing profession, don’t read today’s post.
We were forced to have a ‘nurse’ visit us yesterday. The Curmudgeon’s insurance company sent her. First, she was to arrive between 2 and 3 that was fine with me that’s when I am at my best. Then, she called asking if she could come earlier (between 12:30 and 1) because she had a couple of cancellations and we were her last appointment. Translation: She wanted to get this done early so she could go goof off the rest of the day.
Upon her early arrival before noon, she came in asking for his medication list, blasted questions at him so fast he missed them and I made her repeat the questions. She didn’t like that. Tough.
I then at one point asked her exactly how many MS patients she’d seen in her short life. (Yes, she was very young…and dumb.) She hadn’t seen more than one or two. Did she know that MS was different in almost every patient? What did she know about the medications he is on for his MS?
She wasn’t very bright and she didn’t think well on her feet at all. Sort of reminded me of another nurse…. I hope they don’t send her back for any reason or for that matter I hope they don’t ever send any other nurses who have no idea what MS is like.
You all have a good one.

Gavin, before meds and after meds.

He feels so much better now that all the swelling is gone from the bad tooth. His Vet will pull the tooth on the 27th. Both sides will match then since he had the same tooth removed on the other side a few years ago.
