Kitchen sink chicken soup
Oh so good! I started with two leftover roasted chicken carcasses, boiled them, strained the bones and meat out of the broth, and added two containers of frozen broth from said chickens’ roasting. I cooled down the chickens so I could remove the bones and put the meat into the soup. I added 4 boneless skinless cubed chicken breasts.
I added two bags of frozen soup veggies, 1/2 a bag of frozen pearl onions I had left from my lamb stew, turmeric, sage, salt, pepper, and barley. Let it simmer for 30 minutes and then added some orzo and Ditalini pastas.
The Curmudgeon can’t eat thin soups because of his swallowing problems caused by his MS. So I must thicken the soups I make. They still taste good but they are more like a stew. He enjoyed his soup.
Now I have four containers in the freezer and a small one set aside for G.

It is new chair!

I ordered the chair on Tuesday 12/19 and it arrived on Thursday 12/22.
The old falling apart chair is out on the curb for the garbage pick up.
We are effing screwed.
Yep, our government has totally fucked us.
Mid term elections are coming…and you good old boys are looking at the end of your jobs as you know it.
Maybe some enterprising young lawyer will tie your free time up with a civil suit or a thousand…
For now, to #45 and all the republicans I say…

Another day screwed up by MS
Actually, it’s been several days. The Curmudgeon has had trouble walking again. The other day I had to knock on my neighbor’s door after he went down and I couldn’t get him up.
Then yesterday I took him to get his glasses and by the time we got home he could barely walk again.
The night before last he fell twice in his room. Not a good thing with all the junk he has in there. He managed to cut himself in his eyebrow. I wish I could clear that room of clutter so he was in less danger of hurting himself.
He refuses to allow me to take his reloading equipment out of the room and that’s the primary blockage by his bed. I keep telling him he’s never going to use it again, please call one of his friends who might want it all.
He won’t even let me toss out the pair of old speakers he has taking up floor space. I’m at wits end with him on his collections of stuff he’ll never use all over the house.
Then there’s all the power tools in the basement…

If you are trying to stop Mueller…
If you are trying to keep Mueller from investigating, then you must have something to hide.
If this man scares you that much, I’m betting you couldn’t stand being under a magnifying glass for any number of reasons and all of them illegal.

I am afraid…
Afraid of what my life will be like when I am old and alone.
I fear what the government has in store for those of us who are past our prime.
They want to take away our social security and medicare. So what will we do without them? Die quickly? Die slowly?
They are gutting all assistance programs wherever they can.
Will we have a home left after paying all the medical bills we will most likely have?
Probably not.
Will there be programs left to help us to keep us from being homeless? Wandering the streets with no food, no medical care…
You do realize that most people are a mere 2 or 3 paychecks from that. Take away our social security, that we’ve paid into for our entire working lives, and we will join the burgeoning street population.

Born in 1954…
As years went by, I always thought that when we hit the year 2000 and beyond we’d be past bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, and racism.
I was wrong. In today’s world it is worse than ever.
I looked to the years 2000+ as a bright future of scientific advances, space exploration, new knowledge, exciting inventions and all sorts of forward thinking.
Wrong again. Somehow the government has taken us backwards. They’ve caused more problems than they have ever solved.
We need to find our way back to advancing humanity as humane and scientific.
We need to take religion out of the mix and put it back in the churches and homes for those who subscribe to it and out of our government and schools.

Holy freezing your butt off Batman!
It is 20 degrees outside, feels like 8 degrees with the wind chill.
I suddenly remembered that it would be a good idea to go start my car and make sure the battery was at full charge since my car hasn’t been run for several days.
So glad I went out and did it. Hecuba started but her charge was almost to 0. Sat out there and warmed her up good. Waited until she had a full charge before I shut her down and came inside.
I am so glad she has heated seats and warms up quickly. Because it is damned cold!!!!
Lucy won’t go out without her coat and hat.

The mud wars
Each year when my yard turns into a giant mud hole, I say “Next year I’ll have mostly patio so I don’t have mud.”
Instead, I have to mop the kitchen floor often, wipe Lucy’s feet each time she goes out, and be prepared to slip and fall in it at least once.
Yeah, you need to have money and willing workers to accomplish that.
We never seem to have it these days. Probably because the bulk of our ready cash goes for things like doctor co-pays, medications, groceries, vet bills, city and county taxes, insurance for autos and home, the occasional lunch and pizza….the list goes on forever.
Today’s long sleeved Tee
Not fun in the snow
Lucy was not pleased to discover we had 7 inches of snow in the yard when she went out first thing in the morning yesterday.
Neither was I for that matter.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dog rush outside and pee as fast as this one does. She’s like me and so very not fond of the cold.
