Patty is NOT a Chicken Dog like her brother Gavin.

Patty had a vet appointment yesterday.  She was a good girl making me very proud.  Talk about a hoot.  She managed to suck up to the vet very quickly by giving her kisses.  Then she pointedly stood on the lift table and stared at the vet waiting for her to turn on the lift and give Miss Patty a ride up.  Patty is such a silly girl.

Before she realized it, she’d had blood drawn and a shot.  All the while, she still wagged her tail and gave kisses.  What a difference from her brother, Chicken Dog.  Leaving, she insisted on stopping and giving all the girls behind the desk more kisses.  She had to sit in the car, in the crate and wait for me to pay the bill because her Daddy wasn’t up to coming along but she had plenty of patience for that.

It’s chilly outside

With the temperatures dipping down into the high to mid forties at night, I dragged out my only zippered hoodie to wear to take the dogs out.  Oh my goodness, it is all stretched out, thin, and very dingy looking.  Definitely past time for a new one.

Therefore, I went to my favorite t-shirt, sweat-shirt, fun place   http://www.cafepress.com   and found one I liked.  Of course five minutes after I ordered mine The Curmudgeon wakes up, comes downstairs, sees mine, and asks me to order him one.  Can you tell which shirt is mine and which one is his?

Gavin the chicken dog strikes again.

It wasn’t fair that I woke him from a sound sleep.  He was on his back, all four feet in the air, snoring to beat the band when I poked my finger into the crate and tickled his back foot.

“Want to go for a ride in the car?”  (No, I didn’t tell him we were going to the Vet’s office.)

He jumped awake all ready to go.  I don’t know why he loves going for a ride since it usually is to the Vet’s office.

Soon we were seated in the waiting room with him trying to make himself very small so he could hide under the seat.  It never works, but he still tries every time we’re there.

Blood drawn, shots done,  and soon he’s happily waiting in the car for me to pay the bill.  Another check up done–he’s fine.

Another bath? Really?

Patty hates water (except to drink it)  and she hates baths most of all.  She got two baths because after the first one she rolled in the mud outside.  Now she’s busy plotting her revenge on me.

Be patient dear furry ones

I’ve had my heart stretched to its limits lately.  It seems all the Bullies I know are getting older, many have health problems, and many have left us in the last couple of months.

It’s tough when it is human family, and I have very few of them left.  However, when our pets hurt we’re helpless.  They can’t tell us if they hurt, where they hurt, or what is wrong.  It’s all guesswork and a sad state of affairs if we get it wrong.  Dear ones, we are trying to do what is best for you.  Have patience with us and our love that makes us cling to you.

For those who are waiting on the bridge…be patient dear ones we’ll be there soon enough.

Owie footie.

I’ve heard of so many Bull Terriers dying over the past couple of weeks that it breaks my heart.  It also make me worry more and more about my sweet pups.  Gavin is now ten going on eleven and Patty is somewhere around the seven or eight year mark.

Right now, Gavin has a very sore paw because he cracked another claw lengthwise…again.  He’s done this for what seems like forever.  He has always the weirdest claws of any BT I ever had or knew.

Of course, we are spoiling him rotten, and doing our best to make him more comfortable.  As a typical Bullie he’s taking full advantage of the situation.

“I is keeping my sore footie elevated…would you please cover me so I can nap?”

Bits and pieces

Once in a while you run up against a person whose greatest desire is to make your day miserable.  One thing I like about Facebook is that I can delete such a person.  So much nicer than ‘real life’ isn’t it?

Now that Gavin has figured out how to snuggle with me on the new couch, he’s taken to scolding me if I’m not on the couch for him after dinner.  It’s a hoot.

Patty can’t decide if she likes The Curmudgeon’s new chair or the couch more.

The days and nights are getting cooler.  We can almost turn the AC off completely.  It all depends on The Curmudgeon’s temperature tolerance.

Too tired to post…Enjoy the pics!

Five minutes or less toys for the dogs

I don’t know how many times I’ll have to tell The Curmudgeon not to buy cheap ass toys for Gavin and Patty.  He came home with two today.  They lasted all of about five minutes.  The pups had a blast but then we had to trash the new toys.

     New rules:

     1. Never buy dog toys in the drug store

     2. If the toy is cheap, it will fall apart

     3. Never let Gavin have the toys first.

     4. Never buy just one toy   There’s nothing left for Patty if you do.  Good thing you bought two toys.

Not a picture day.

Every time I tried to snap some pictures of the pups yesterday they managed to dodge out of focus just as the shutter clicked.  This was not a catch your dogs doing something cute sort of day as it turned out.

Gavin snoozed on the couch, I reached for my camera, turned it on and *poof* he was standing next to me.  I turned to snap a picture of Patty on the settee and she’d already left it before I could push the button.

I keep hoping I can catch them doing something cute.  Maybe tomorrow.

Health snippets

I have come to the conclusion that I may have been low on potassium for a while and then had it bottom out earlier this week.  Now with all the potassium pumped into me since the ambulance run, I am finding I am having a slow upswing in energy.  Interesting.

The Curmudgeon was reading one of his MS magazines and came across an article on vitamin D.  He realizes that since he seldom goes outside he’s probably very low on it.  He started taking supplements a week ago and says he feels better the last few days.

Both of us and the pups are both enjoying the cool nights.  We’ve turned off the ac and opened the windows.  I do believe we are all sleeping deeper.
