I hope you all had a good day!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Lovely day here yesterday. Plenty of sunshine to warm us and melt more snow. We can see a lot more of the yard now. The most delightful thing of all was hearing the birds rejoicing in the day.
The dogs pranced about like puppies, and I’m sure they read the clocks. Exactly at five, Gavin began to scold me for his dinner. I was hoping to have an hour’s reprieve. Nope. He never let up until I walked to the kitchen and picked up their food dishes. These dogs are such a hoot.

Someone is feeling better.

Patty is much improved from Sunday night. There have been no more let’s scare Mom and Dad incidents. She has taken advantage as is typical of a bull terrier. She’s been back in Daddy’s chair, a practice we stopped after the second chair had to go back to the store. Not from her, but from the poor workmanship. (Lazy Boy chairs are not what they used to be, their quality is way down.) Chair number 3 has its problems too but we’re sick of having to call them about the chairs. Next one, we buy elsewhere, and a different brand.

Sneaking this in, hoping Mother Nature doesn’t take notice
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We got off lucky on Sunday with only a dusting of snow. (Saying that very quietly.) When it was snowing hard and, thankfully, not sticking much, I took the dogs out. Never have I seen such a disgusted look on two dogs.
It’s true, not only are the people going crazy this winter but the pets are too. I’m hoping that today’s forecast of snow also hits the skids as yesterday’s did. We still have feet of the white stuff in the yard which has turned into hard, icy, pad cutting snow. We need it to thaw and go away.
I so crave green plants, warm sun, and flowers. You all have a good one!

Yay, Terrier group!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I may miss one or two of the groups but NEVER the terrier group. Nice to see a couple of familiar faces in there too.
Hats off to Mary Remer and Margery Goode. Good to see you out there Ladies.
Terriers, the clowns of the dog world. Got to love them!
Congrats to Sky the wire fox terrier on the win.
Me with Joey our second Bull Terrier.

Another Westminster…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I watched the first four groups last night. I don’t get fired up until the second night and the Terrier group though.
You better believe I will be cheering the Bull Terriers on again this year. I’d always wanted to be there if only to show in the breed. Malcolm would’ve loved it, but Gavin, not so much. He hates shows, crowds of people, and noise.

Gavin, his third show …all he wanted to do was get the hell out of there…one of the few times his ear stayed up.

More snow…shoot me now.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
You notice I don’t complain about the weather when it is warm. This is because I find winter miserable. and I actually enjoy warm weather.
A tropical beach paradise would be ideal for me, but not for The Curmudgeon. Damned shame that MS patients do not do well in the heat…and yet he keeps the furnace cranking all winter at melt down levels.
I think this calls for another chocolate martini…

Another few reasons why I need a keeper.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I forgot my morning pills again. Finally remembered them two hours later. I’m doing this a lot lately. If not a keeper, I need an alarm to remind me.
I also completely forgot about the load of wash I had sitting in the kitchen at the top of the basement steps. Midnight and that load of wash just went into the washer.
I’d pulled some stuff from the freezer to thaw for dinner and then not once but twice went digging through the freezer for something for dinner. Yeah, I need a keeper.

Nail trimmin…oh no, he’s off!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
“Get back here!” I make a grab for the fat, white butt as it leaps from the couch. The white dog rounds the coffee table and dashes past me with a you-can’t-catch-me grin on his face.
“Oh, no you don’t.”
A stifled giggle comes from the direction of The Curmudgeon’s chair.
“You’re not helping. I no sooner picked up the Dremel and he was rocketing off into new realms.”
Gavin dances to just within grasp and bolts out of the room. Again.
The brown dog is hiding in her crate. She thinks she’s next.
“Patty, your nails are fine. You are safe.” I walk to the kitchen.
Gavin jigs past me. He’s enjoying the game.
“Ignoring you, naughty boy.” I go back to the couch and pick up my Kindle. I’ll try again tomorrow.

Been a sad week
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I was going to post another experiment in writing, but four friends have lost their bullies, and a couple of others have seriously ill pups. I don’t have it in me to play today. Instead, I am lighting a candle for all of them.
All I want to do is hug my two and hold back time. It scares me that Gavin is now twelve and Patty is nine. The oldest one I’ve had, made it to just shy of fourteen years. I still cry over him today. It always hurts so much to lose one of our fur babies.

Migraines suck.

“I’ll tell them.”
“No, let me.”
“You got to last time.”
“We can both tell them.”
“Momma has a migraine. She hasn’t had one in years. She will see you all tomorrow.”

Pouring rain and dogs…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Not a good mix, at least around here. The Curmudgeon had a rough time shoving them outside in the morning. Neither one wanted to brave the very wet outdoors. Bull Terriers think they might melt in the rain. It’s easier to get them out in a blizzard.
When I got up, they were down for their naps. Every day without fail they insist on their naps…well, at least Gavin does. He will scream at you until you close his crate door and cover him.
They were slow getting up from their naps too. Could it be because it was still pouring and they knew they’d have to go out again? You betcha!
