Nice day here, how was your day?

We had a lovely day yesterday and I managed to get some yard work done before my back decided it was time to quit.  The Curmudgeon even mowed the grass without having to wear his ice vest.

While digging through stuff in the cellar, The Curmudgeon came across some work lights he never used and had me give them to our neighbor’s son.  He’s such a good kid and always helps us when he can.

I have two small projects coming up for him.  Building a new ramp at the gate for The Curmudgeon and carrying down a large whole house fan from the attic for the trash.  No way can I carry that sucker downstairs.

I do wish I could get a new whole house fan installed up in the attic.  On a cool night, the old one could cool the entire house in minutes.

Now I need to figure out how I’ll get the interior or this house fixed up and painted.  (Sigh)  This getting older business is not for cowards.

You all have a good one!

I can’t wait for the tomatoes to start coming in.

Yes, I’m pushing it since I only got them into the pots two days ago.  Speaking of which, I need to go buy two more large pots.  I ran out of room and still have some basil, rosemary, and peppers to plant.

The Curmudgeon has agreed to go to a store with me today.  I’m not sure if he will actually go in the store or wait in the car but at least he’s going to leave the house.

The sunflowers and geraniums that I planted in the pots on the front porch yesterday look nice.  I also loaded some Texas Bluebonnet seeds into the pots.  If they grow, I’ll get a nice bit of blue in each planter.

I’ve dumped the soil I took out of all the pots into the garden by the pond.  The ground there can use some better soil.

Once I finish the planting, I need to get my car over to the dealer for a recall and her first check up.  She now has a bit over eight hundred miles on her.

You all have a good one!

Slowly getting the veggies in the pots

I wish I’d taken the camera outside with me yesterday, the oriental lilies are beginning to bloom and the bright orange color sets the garden on fire.

I haven’t finished planting all the veggies and herbs, and I haven’t even started on the flowers for the front porch.  Half of yesterday we had rain and then when we finally had some sun I managed to get some of the plants in pots.  Not all of them as my back began to scream at me to stop.

I hope that later today I’ll be able to finish more of them.  I don’t think the front porch pots will be done though.

I also think I am going to have to make a run to a store for another big pot or two.  :\  I’ve got on big pot left on the side of the house to plant and too many plants.

You all have a good one!

Really? Rain again?

We had rain all day again…I accomplished nothing.

Pictures are from Friday.

If you look close you can see my new solar lights in some of the pictures, they work well.  I love how they change colors.

If my back gets better, my garden should too.

If you are going to spam me, at least spell the line of crap message you are trying to sell me, correctly.  😀

We had a gorgeous day today and G and I went to another nursery where we found the composted potting soil I wanted, sunflowers and bright red geraniums for the pots out front and some nice rosemary plants.

Thank goodness for my neighbor’s kids , they hauled the bags of soil into the yard for me.  My back was not up to lugging six forty pound bags around.

My back didn’t allow me to plant much yesterday but there’s always today.

You all have a good one!

Rain, rain go away my basement is wet again today

Whew, rain, rain, and more rain yesterday.  Poor Patty would hold out until she was about to burst before she’d go outside.  Gavin didn’t care, he’s of the when you’ve got to go you’ve got to go school.

At times it would pour and other times we’d have barely a sprinkle but the entire day was wet, wet, wet.  I’m so glad The Curmudgeon got the yard mowed before all the rain began.

The gardens and the grass needed a good soaking, the basement however, did not.  In the forty years I’ve lived in this house I think we’ve had a completely dry basement for one solid year.  More rain predicted for today, lovely, maybe I should get a sump pump…

You all have a good one!

A little pampering goes a long way.

It’s amazing how nice a bit of pampering can feel.  Yesterday, late afternoon, I had a hair appointment.  By the time I left the salon I felt relaxed, which was good after a stressful day.

The curmudgeon wasn’t having a good day, and I really noticed more cognitive problems.  Not sure if it comes from his sleep patterns or from his MS.

When I have to explain something in detail more than two times, you know he’s having difficulty.  I try so hard to be patient but I am not always successful.

It’s days like that, where a break and a bit of relaxation is important for my sanity.

You all have a good one!

Tornado alley is getting nailed again

Would everyone please keep Oklahoma and all the other people who are going through more storms in your thoughts and prayers.

I remember as a kid, living in Nebraska, we would have to hit the basements frequently.  I’d forgotten what it was like until many years later when I was helping my mother move and we had to hit the basement.  It wasn’t long afterwards, when a tornado jumped over the house, I remembered that freight train sound from my childhood.

Candles lit here for all you in Tornado alley.

The rest of you all have a good one!
