Gardening day.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We had a lovely day yesterday. Mid 80s fabulous breezes. Perfect for me to get some work done in the yard.
I didn’t get a great deal done but enough to make me happier.
I ran the weed eater in the pond area. Gee, maybe one day I can stop saying that when we finally get it level.
Then I cleaned out some of the weeds and suckers under the sweet gum tree and trimmed a few low hanging branches off the magnolia. I still have plenty more to do.
Looks like today will be the same routine and maybe I’ll actually get some of the mulch down.
You all have a good one!
I now have two of these wind chimes. I love them!

Yay! He will have teeth!

Another fitting of the wax dentures yesterday was a great success. He is finally happy with the fit!
He will have his new dentures in two weeks. I think the new ones are great looking.
Now all we need to do is pay them off. It’s amazing how expensive dentures are.
In fact, the cost of dental care these days often makes it out of reach for people on fixed incomes. A damned shame that dental insurance is not part of the healthcare system when the condition of your teeth and gums can have such a huge impact on your overall health.
Here’s to Aspen Dental for hitting a home run With The Curmudgeon’s new teeth.

Another setback for The Curmudgeon
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So another day where The Curmudgeon’s MS hits us between the eyes with a jolt. He went in for his monthly blood test early in the morning and by afternoon we had a phone call telling him to stop the Tecfidera again.
Crap.
His hemoglobin and lymphocytes are all screwed up.
Double crap.
The weather is heating up too so he won’t even leave the house later this week.
He did go with Lucy and I to the vet’s office yesterday. He got to see her getting hugs and kisses from the entire staff. They love her at ABE Veterinary Clinic. Unlike her brother Gavin who hates to leave home, Lucy is a social butterfly.
Come on Daddy, let’s play!!!

Out and about
Posted by doggonedmysteries
G and I went out to lunch, the first of two lunches out we’ll have this week, and probably the only meals out anywhere we’ll have for the rest of the month.
We went to Applebees because it is next door to Target. I enjoyed a spinach salad with chicken wrap and G had broccoli cheese soup and a chicken wrap. Lovely light lunches. And I have to mention our server Chris, he was a delight. We’ve had him serve us before and always have enjoyed him. The kid is a real hoot.
Target was our main agenda for the day.
We do love to do a little shopping there at least once a month. This time The Curmudgeon wanted a new DVD that came out yesterday so we were happy to oblige him.

Wild weather
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The sky darkened considerably while I cooked dinner.
Just before I served it up, the sky opened and the air between the clouds and the earth flooded. We couldn’t see across the cemetery.
The street out front was no longer a street but became a raging river. I was on the lookout for white water rafters.
Thunder rattled the windows.
Needless to say neither dog wanted to go out to pee until the rain slowed to a trickle.
I hope you all had a good day.

How does your garden grow?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
My potted garden is growing well. I have peppers coming on my pepper plants, tomatoes on the tomato plants, and blossoms all over my little cucumber plant. The eggplant hasn’t any blossoms yet but I don’t expect them for a while.
Now if only we can keep the squirrels away from them, we might get to have some fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and eggplants.
Anyone have any fool proof squirrel chasing tactics?
What a race! What a horse!

Can’t live without them
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Spent $102.00 at the vet’s without taking either dog there. Yep, that’s what six months worth of heart worm medications cost us.
Lucy is scheduled to go in for shots, heart worm test, and intestinal parasites test. Yeah, that’s going to cost us a pretty penny too.
We don’t mind, truly we don’t. We love these two lunatic dogs with all our hearts.
I might bitch and moan about them from time to time but I don’t know what I’d do without them. They are my heartbeat.

Crash my yard please.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I’m hoping that, after I run a couple of errands today, I can do some actual yard work. I need to weed the gardens and get the mulch in before there is nothing there but weeds.
I’d like to transplant a few more things from the pond area so maybe I can get someone in to rototill that area flat. I’d love to get started on revamping the yard so we can get some use out of it.
Oh, if only yard crashers would show up at my door and work a miracle! 😉 My yard is in dire need.
It would be nice to get it to where The Curmudgeon could come outside and enjoy it. Or, perhaps to where I can find some sanctuary from him when he is driving me crazy.

And…it’s still not teeth
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Took the Curmudgeon to the dentist office for another fitting of the new dentures. They don’t fit him right yet. We go back next week for another fitting. That will be fitting number five.
I hope it will also be the last one. I am rather tired of running him over there.
I know if they don’t fit him right, he won’t wear them, and we’ll have spent a fortune for some teeth to smile pretty in a jar.
He truly did need new dentures, the ones he wears are over thirty years old and quite dull.
From the ones he tried on today that were almost right, I do believe the new teeth will look good.

My Tuesday night TV addictions
Posted by doggonedmysteries
On Tuesday nights, I record IZombie, watch America has Talent, and I can do that, and record a new show, Stitchers.
Our DVR is often busy with night time series recordings because The Curmudgeon goes to bed so early I tend to record a few shows I think he might enjoy.
Those shows we watch around dinner time the next night.
Therefore, Wednesday night is when I’ll watch IZombie and Stitchers with The Curmudgeon. Good thing too since Wednesday night TV sucks.

Now I have to go today…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I really did want to go grocery shopping yesterday, only because I wanted to get it over with. My list is long and I hate going.
However, my lack of sleep caused me to go upstairs to my bed as soon as The Curmudgeon came downstairs. And, well, I slept in. Almost three o’clock and pouring rain meant not going to the store. I refuse to have to deal with mommy and me time at the grocery store.
I am not a fan of kids running rampant and dodging in front of my cart, tripping me in the aisles, and being screaming meemies behind me in the check out.
I hate grocery shopping to begin with.
