Warm with rain…bye bye snow. Or is it?

HPIM3690Day was rainy and warm.

HPIM3689Snow melted like crazy.

HPIM3687Fast melting snow and our yard =?

MUD

HPIM3688Temperature plummets, winds kick up to 40 Mph, and rain turns to snow? Only advantage I see is the possibility of the ground drying some. I REALLY NEED a patio here.

You all have a good one!

I hope you all had a good day!

Lovely day here yesterday. Plenty of sunshine to warm us and melt more snow.  We can see a lot more of the yard now. The most delightful thing of all was hearing the birds rejoicing in the day.

The dogs pranced about like puppies, and I’m sure they read the clocks.  Exactly at five, Gavin began to scold me for his dinner. I was hoping to have an hour’s reprieve.  Nope. He never let up until I walked to the kitchen and picked up their food dishes.  These dogs are such a hoot.

Snow to mud. Fun. Not.

We had some meltage today.

It wasn’t much but it is better than none.  I managed to get outside and clean up as many land mines as I could find. (Better known as dog poop.)  With temperatures coming our way above freezing for the next several day we should be down to our usual Spring mud hole of a yard.

Maybe this is the year I get a patio in so The Curmudgeon and dogs don’t track in so much mud on wet days.

PatioThis would be nice.

The real question is, do I have the patience to do it?  LOL, I doubt it.

You all have a good one!

We want warm weather

HPIM3584     It still isn’t warm enough to melt away much of the darned white stuff on the ground. We can’t call it snow because it’s more like ice. Barely hitting 40 by afternoon and then dropping to 20 degrees as soon as the sun goes down doesn’t work the greatest.

I did manage to break through the six-inch deep ice on the sidewalk out back and cleared a single square foot’s worth of cement in hopes that it will help melt the rest off faster.  We have two small spots of visible ground, one along the side of the house and another out by what’s left of the pond.

Supposed to hit 47 degrees today, let’s hope it melts off more of the white stuff.

You all have a good one!

The first step is admitting you have a problem…

I am a silly Quiz addict. I can’t help myself.  It began as lark and turned into an addiction.  When one pops up on Facebook, I can’t resist it. I think I need an intervention!

What state should you live in? NC.  (Damn I’m in the wrong state.)

Which dream home should you live in? Over the water in Bora Bora. (You bet your bippy it wouldn’t be this old house in PA.)

What period in history do you really belong? Medieval Europe.  (I can hear it now, “Burn the witch!  Burn the Witch!”)

What famous work of art are you? Starry Night (That explains it!)

Which character from Shakespeare are you? Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing.  (I can see that.)

Which philosopher are you?  Socrates.  (Where’s the hemlock?)

Which Hollywood bombshell are you? Marilyn Monroe (Giggle)

How cute are you? Unconventional.  (True!)

They keep on coming too.

What country should you actually live in?  Spain  (Why did I take French in school?)

What city should you live in?  Madrid  (Yep, couldn’t miss this one could I)

What Harry Potter character are you?  Luna Lovegoode (Okaaaay)

What is your patronus?  A hare  (Like Luna Lovegoode, at least I am consistent)

Whatever you do, don’t go to Buzzfeed and get hooked on the quizzes!!!

Three days after the Tea Tree oil incident

The Curmudgeon is still not quite back to where he was before. Thanks to the idiot who used the Tea Tree oil infused shampoo on him. It is almost as if he had an MS relapse, although with secondary Progressive MS he doesn’t have those, it’s more a steady but slow downhill journey.

At least today he could walk, and he managed to do his normal daily routine, although with some effort. That’s a blessing.  Maybe in a few more days he’ll be back to where he was before the stylist used the Tea Tree Oil shampoo. I hope so.

HPIM3192What you got there Dad?  You gonna share it?

Tea Tree oil warning. Again.

HPIM3318     I have commented on the dangers of Tea Tree oil before, and here we go again.  I spent the day yesterday watching The Curmudgeon struggle to walk. Why? Because the day before, he went to get his hair cut, and the gal that did it, did not warn him, did not ask him if it was okay to use, instead she just began to shampoo his head with a shampoo containing Tea Tree oil.

Had he not noticed the scent and asked if Tea Tree oil was in the shampoo it could’ve been worse. He yelled, “get it off, get it off, I have a bad reaction to it!”  She washed his hair twice with another shampoo but even then it was not enough. When he woke yesterday he was barely able to walk.

Tea Tree oil can cause severe reactions in people (and pets) and should never be used without asking if the person (or pet) has ever had a reaction to it.  The Curmudgeon’s MS is deeply affected by Tea Tree oil.

Years ago, one of our dogs had a severe reaction to it too.  We were told to put it on an inter-digital cyst and when we did his foot swelled to football size. Thank goodness for Benedryl and a good vet.

Please, use it with caution!!!!  The damned stuff needs a warning label and shouldn’t be put willy-nilly into everything.

They have a box full of them

HPIM3667     Isn’t he done yet?  I want it.

They have a box full of Nylabones of all shapes and sizes suited to them and natural bones too.  However, one always wants the one the other one has.  If she isn’t outright stealing the bone from his mouth, she’s looking pitiful.  He, on the other hand will wait patiently for her to get tired of the bone and then snatch it from where she’s dropped it.  They are a hoot.

You all have a good one!

Sneaking this in, hoping Mother Nature doesn’t take notice

We got off lucky on Sunday with only a dusting of snow.  (Saying that very quietly.)  When it was snowing hard and, thankfully, not sticking much, I took the dogs out.  Never have I seen such a disgusted look on two dogs.

It’s true, not only are the people going crazy this winter but the pets are too.  I’m hoping that today’s forecast of snow also hits the skids as yesterday’s did.  We still have feet of the white stuff in the yard which has turned into hard, icy, pad cutting snow.  We need it to thaw and go away.

I so crave green plants, warm sun, and flowers. You all have a good one!

I heard that dirty word again…

Oh no!  Say it isn’t so!  More effing snow on the way.

Teetering on the edge

That’s me, teetering on the edge of sanity and 59.  In a couple of weeks I’ll be over the edge and hit 60.  OMG!  60! I never imagined hitting 60. Seems as though, after this winter, I won’t exactly hit 60 as much as it will hit me.

Just took the dog’s outside and it is a mere nine degrees.  About takes your breath away out there.  The forecast says it will drop to 3 degrees before morning.

I really need Spring to hurry up and get here before I lose the few threads of sanity holding me here.  I want to get out of the house, go for walks, go fishing, work on my garden, play in the dirt and get my sanity back on track. This winter was far too long and too brutal.HPIM3659
