Friday night the trick or treat invasion begins

If you’re in the neighborhood on Friday night, come look us up.  We’ll be the ones with the music blasting, strobe lights strobing, fog rolling, props a hopping, handing out tons of candy, trick or treat house.

As usual, after the trick or treaters have finished, we will have our  monster mash.  No party is complete without various Vampyre, Zombie Zin, and Howling Wolves vintages.

For the second year in a row will also be celebrating neighbor Dominique’s birthday with one of G’s special halloween birthday cakes.

When things go bump in the night…

In this house it most likely isn’t a ghostie or a goblin, it’s probably DH dropping something upstairs.  If not him, it’s a silly Bull Terrier rolling around in his or her crate.

Then again, it could be the neighbors we share a wall with, the one son does tend to jump those last few stairs–he’s done that since he was a small child and we’re used to it.

I say it most likely isn’t a ghostie because our last one left us a while back.  DH’s grandfather stayed with us for a few years when we were first married.  He died a couple of months before we married….  I’m sure he stayed just long enough to make certain we were doing okay.  Once satisfied, he left.

I sort of miss the door to his old bedroom opening and closing on its own and things moving from one room to another.

Have you ever had one of those days?….

You get up too late.  Your brain is fuzzy from oversleeping.  Three cups of coffee don’t seem to put a dent in the fuzz.

You hurry and scurry to get things done and still are so far behind you seem to have jumped ahead.

You feel as though you are running in clay mud.  Yeah, you know what I mean, that sticky, slippery mud in which you can’t make any headway.

     Welcome to my day….

A new St. Joseph arrived today

I’m up to trying anything to get the MIL’s house sold so I was very upset to find the St. Joseph statue that I’d planned to bury was stolen.  Who’d steal a little St. Joseph statue?  I had to order another one.  The new one arrived today.

This time I’ll bury it right away and not stick it in the mailbox to bury later.  I wonder if the mailman took the other one?  No mail is delivered there, we have it all forwarded to our house.

Anyway, I plan to get the statue buried next week and if all goes right the house should soon be out of our hands.  Please, please, please let it be so.

RIP Cousin Bill

Cousin by marriage, I never had a chance to meet you in person.  We talked on the phone a few times and I did enjoy your sense of humor.  I will dedicate ‘Fluffy’ to you.

I was lucky in August, I had DH call an ambulance when I didn’t feel right.  That saved my life, I survived my heart attack.  I wish you had listened to your symptoms.

My heart goes out to Bill’s wife–my Cousin Gloria and his family.  He was a good man who touched many lives.

Getting spooky

Only a few of the props that we have set up.  My batteries died before I could get the rest of the pictures taken.  I’ll take more when the new prop arrives.

16 days to Halloween

We are somewhat ready for the hordes.  Candy is stockpiled along with small toys.  I need to drag props down from the attic.  However, I’ve been on the lazy side and am thinking of bringing down only my better props this year and leaving the simple stuff in the attic.

What can I say?  The idea of dragging it all back to the attic this years is the kicker.  I’m thinking this is a good year to KISS it.  (For those who don’t know what that means–Keep It Simple Stupid.)

Vampyre, Zombie Zin, Royal Bitch and Wolf’s Howl wines are waiting to be opened.  I’m ready to party.

Run! She’s got them cotton swabs out again!

Miss Patty has gone into hiding since I cleaned her ears.  Well, actually, she went into hiding before I could clean them.  It’s not my fault that she was shaking her head and made me take a look at them.  Ew, yucky, they were dirty.

Out came the cotton swabs and tissues then ~poof~ went the dog.  She bolted for her kennel and hid as far back as she could squeeze.  I swear she even held her breath.

“Have you seen the brown dog, dear?” I pointed to the crate.

“Nope.”  DH tried to keep from laughing out loud.  “I haven’t seen her.”

“I wonder where Patty is?  I bet she doesn’t know I have a cookie.”

The white dog appeared at my feet.  Gavin tried to give his paw, do a stick ’em up, even a speak.

“Sorry, white dog.  This COOKIE  is for the brown dog.  It’s your sister’s COOKIE.  Maybe if PATTY doesn’t want a COOKIE, you can have it.”

A black nose poked out of a crate door, followed by a brown and white face.  Soon I had a brown and white dog sitting at my feet next to the white dog.  I gave them both a cookie and closed the crate doors so Patty couldn’t go back into hiding.

The brown dog gave me a killing look and tried to hide behind DH’s chair.

“Too late.  Gotcha now.”  I cleaned her ears.  When I opened the crate doors again Patty went back into hiding.

Two electronics questions.

DH is interested in buying either a Wii, a Playstation, or an Xbox keeping in mind that he has MS, has limited mobility, and that he isn’t interested in any of the violent games out there, which would be the best choice for him?

The second question is mine.  Of the portable vehicle GPS units, which is the best one for me?  I’m looking for ease of use, sound quality, and best value for your money.

Anyone want to buy a house?

Sunday I’ll be going over to the MIL’s house to check on the work the roofer has done there and see all the extra painting the neighbor’s son did inside.

I hope we can buy some flooring for the kitchen soon–it depends on our finances.  I’ll be glad to get this place sold.  My cardio and mental health don’t need me constantly dealing with a house other than my own.

I think it’s almost time to call Assist to sell.  I know I can’t do this myself.

Sunshine, the happy vitamin

It’s amazing what a spending a few days outside in the sun can do to lift the spirits.  Of course, my being outside means I was working in the gardens, which is also quite therapeutic for me.

I may have some sore muscles but I am certainly in a happier mood than I have been for a while.  All the gray skies and rain we had made for a miserable me.

When Mom is happy the pups and DH are happy…

Lovely weather!

We’ve had a couple of gorgeous days.  This is such a lovely change from all the rain.

Yesterday I decided to take advantage of the weather and get some sun.  I took the dogs out to play several times.  They were happy about that.

They haven’t forgotten how to jump through the Hula hoops.  This is the first time in quite a while we had that sort of fun.

I even got in some weeding.

Unfortunately the ground is still saturated, it’s going to take at least a week or two to dry it out to a point where the rain won’t just run right off.
