It is Fenced!!

Before eight yesterday morning our fence was halfway down.  Before four in the afternoon the new fence was up.  By four-fifteen two dogs had tested their new boundaries and were pleased.

Gavin promptly lifted his leg on the front corner of the yard and then in the back.  He kicked dirt about with his back feet and claimed the new fence suitable.

Patty nosed along the entire length of the fence and after being told to get out of the gardens didn’t bother with it again.

More entertaining than TV

We’d finished dinner and the pups were mooching gummy cherries from The Curmudgeon.  As soon as he told them the candy was ‘all gone’ Patty decided it was time to play with Gavin.

She likes to swoop in and grab a leg or his collar to get things started.  There’s chasing, there’s wrestling, and there are hucklebutts on and off the couch.

On our part, there is a great deal of laughter.

One step back…

So the appointment at the neurologist didn’t go as hoped.  On the bright side, the MRI of his spine didn’t show any new lesions.  On the dark side, his EEG has them worried.

Now they want an MRI of his brain with contrast.  He has to have blood work done beforehand because the hospital won’t do the MRI without the blood work.

His nurse practitioner (with whom he had the appointment) and his neurologist were both in the room at the end of the appointment.  Not something that happens often and something I find a tad disconcerting.

There big concern was his one medication, Ampyra.  It can cause seizures.  What they found on his EEGs had them concerned.

He is showing more muscle weakness as of late.  His balance is poor and he needs to use the walker and rollator more.

I can see the day coming where I will need to get help in for him, and I have no idea how we will manage to pay for that.

What scares me the most, is that the time to do this, is coming closer at a faster rate.

Well, we’ll deal with it when it gets here.  For now, as usual, it’s one day at a time.

You all have a good one.

New fencing

Although we will have to tighten our belts a lot for the next couple of months to pay for it, we are having the fencing that runs down the alley side of yard replaced.  I need to do this to take some pressure off The Curmudgeon and me.

This means The Curmudgeon won’t have to walk all over the yard with the dogs when he has them out because with the new fencing he’ll be able to let them run loose.  I can take them outside with me when I’m gardening and they’ll get more exercise.

The picket fence will now be replaced with  solid fencing.  The dogs can’t get through it, and If I’m lucky, I can take that old fencing and rig something between the two yards.  I figure I can hook the pickets and rails to the chain link and voila, instant privacy fence there since that fence is about half the length of the alley side fence.

Installation could begin as early as Thursday.

You all have a good one!

     Bye bye pickets.

Puttered in the garden…

Yesterday I had a chance to putter about in the garden.  We had sun and it was warm enough that I didn’t need a jacket.  YES!

I was working on the pond, back washing the filters, and skimming crud from the river.  The Curmudgeon decided to join me.  He must have felt fairly good because he knelt beside the pond and with much groaning and moaning hauled Pan out and managed to fix the hose.  We now have a working fountain again.

I managed to clean the filters and clean out several of my pots.  I would love to have enough nice days to Spring clean all the gardens.

Once I get that done, I’ll be able to map out what I’d like to do for hard-scape and raised flower beds.  Keep your fingers crossed that we have several warm and dry days.

You all have a good one!

Fairy tale continues…

Cragger crept forward through the thick undergrowth.  Mavelle and McDougal followed close behind.  Heavy vines, bushes loaded with thorns, and moss-covered ground made the going slow.  More than once Mavelle’s feet slipped out from under her and Cragger helped her to her feet.  Their conversation limited to grunts and groans by the effort they put forth.

Before long, they had a view of Lovena and Sarah’s prison.  Mavelle’s gaze swept over the heavy stone that kept her sisters prisoner.

“How will we ever get them out of there even when we kill the troll?”

“You forget, I’m a dwarf, and we dwarves have a way with stone.”  He pointed to a thicket ahead of them.  “We can take cover there until he appears.”

Mavelle pushed to her feet and continued.  Once they reached the thicket, they used hand signals to position themselves.  Cragger watched one direction while Mavelle watched the opposite.

McDougal growled.  The rumble came from deep within his body.  He raised his lips to show his teeth, and stared at a pile of rubble in front of them that began to move.  In an instant Mavelle was helpless in a grip of stone.  The last thing she saw was Cragger’s limp body flying through the air.  The last thing she heard was McDougal’s howl of pain.

All smiles here

You know we all have some days that are pure crap.  However, once in a while, along comes a day where you feel like you are farting rainbows.  Where every miserable thing that’s gone before feels distant and blurred.

That was my yesterday.  Little things went right all day.  In this house that is not normal.

The dogs stayed out of trouble.  The Curmudgeon’s mood lightened.  The sun came out to play all day.

Then the package arrived.  Addressed to Gloria’s Cousin.  That would be me at this address.  Inside, I found a ring I’ve coveted for at least two years.  I’ve entered each contest put on by Bella Morta Jewelry to win it.  Seems that someone who knows my cousin made sure I got it.  😀  Color me delighted.

You all have a good one today because I sure had one yesterday!!

the ring!!!

Not as down today, but stayed off the scale too.

I spent most of today doing some form of exercise, when I wasn’t napping that is.  I had my hand weights close to hand and would do a couple sets with them whenever the mood would strike.

As a result, all the free exercise has made my upper arms sore.  Good, because they are flabby.  I have sore biceps, triceps, and with the crunches I put in my stomach muscles are a tad sore.

Tomorrow I get my hair cut, and if this storm comes through here as mild as forecast for our area, I’ll head over to the gym afterwards.  If it is worse than forecast I’ll come home and do some yoga, weights, and free exercise.

You all have a good one!

Noooooooooooo!

I knew I didn’t want to step on the scale.  I can’t believe it, I gained two pounds.  Excuse me while I go to a corner, curl into a ball, and sob.

I’ll do another ten miles on the bicycle later today.  Weights and yoga sufficed yesterday.  I did get G to join the gym so I’ll have an exercise buddy at least twice a week.

I won’t let this beat me.  Next weigh in is in a week…

You all have a good one.

45 minute work out is better than nothing

Yesterday I worked out on my weights and did some yoga.  I was only able to squeeze in forty-five minutes before The Curmudgeon absolutely HAD to interrupt me.

Now you know why the gym membership and the need to go walk at a park when the weather gets nice.  It is not only needed exercise I am getting but it is also much-needed stress relief and me time.

I am enjoying being able to get into a zone at the gym and know I won’t be interrupted during the time I set for myself.

Tomorrow we see if I have any first week results to report.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.

You all have a good one.

Visualizing a slimmer me.

I didn’t get to the gym yesterday, but I did do laundry which meant running two flights of stairs many times during the day.   I also hit our weight machine for a bit and did some yoga.  Yes, this gal is on fire with the need to blast the weight off.

If anyone ever tells you that visualization doesn’t work, don’t believe them.  While working on the bicycle on Friday, I could picture myself back at my best weight.  I know I will be there by this time next year.

     Heck, I’ll be there sooner.

You all have a good one!
