Another shoe drops

I was going to blog about the Westminster dog show but then I got an E-mail from my dear friend Elena’s neighbor.

Elena is in the hospital fighting for her life.  She had a major heart attack.  She was resuscitated and tests showed a blockage that can only be cleared by surgery.  She is now in stable, but non-responsive condition with a breathing tube in the ICU.  The doctors are waiting for her condition to improve to discuss surgery.

I have a candle burning for her.

Techno I don’t think so!

Yesterday, my friend’s Iphone took exception to her language at it and hung up on her.  The nerve of it!  If my phone were to do that to me it’d be under a sledge-hammer tout de suite!  No mercy no matter how much it begs.

When I say that my computer is the brains of this outfit, I am kidding.  At least I hope I am.  It’s only hooked to the internet and not to every appliance and light in my house.  Imagine if your computer ran your house and got pissed at you?  There are countless examples to choose from in books, TV,  and movies.  Think Hal in your home or better yet, Eureka’s Sarah the house on Sci Fi.  No thank you very much.

Most cars come equipped with  computers.  A very few advancements on those and, well…  Will they drive my car next?  What if I have an argument with the car?  Does that mean that if I want to turn right and the computer thinks that a left turn is all the better to do me in, I hit that wall?

I wonder, are my desk top and lap top computers listening to this?   Maybe it’s time I went off the grid….

Love notes from ~Me~

Love’ has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get – only with what you are expecting to give – which is everything.  Katharine Hepburn

 Dearest Curmudgeon,

I give my heart to you each day with no reservations.   Hold it gently, protect it fiercely, and it will always be yours.

Love,

~Me~

Dearest Aunties and Cousins,

I love you all very much.

Love,

~Me~

Dear friends,

My heart has room for many, do come in.

Love,

~Me~

My precious pups,

You are the beat of my heart.

Love.

~Me~

You are never to old to dream

There are many ways of breaking a heart. Stories were full of hearts broken by love, but what really broke a heart was taking away its dream – whatever that dream might be.   Pearl S. Buck

Never believe anyone that tells you can’t for if you do you’ve let them take a dream away.  As a girl I had many dreams that an older relative took great joy in smashing.

Much older now, I realize how naive I was to allow that to happen.  When I grow up, I will be a writer.

Techno schmecto just make it work!

So now my printer and computer aren’t talking to each other.  ARRRGH!!!  I have the printer wired to the desk top computer and still won’t talk to it.  At this rate, I need an in-house computer geek.

The printer is fairly new.  It worked fine before the computer needed work done.

It has me wondering if it will talk to my lap top.  I’ll try that tomorrow.  I don’t feel like running up and down stairs now.  Yes, I’m lazy and it’s two freaking a.m.

I wonder, if I can’t get the computer and printer working together, do I have to haul both over to my computer guru to see if he can get them working together?

Shoot me now.  I hate driving over there.

Do I need words?

Nope, this February snowstorm is better than what happened in 2010!

Happy belated Birthday Curmudgeon

The Curmudgeon’s cane arrived from https://www.elderluxe.com/ today.  It is gorgeous.  I thought I’d ordered it early enough to get it by The Curmudgeon’s birthday back in January, but I was wrong.

If you plan to order a gift from them, give it plenty of time.  I can say with conviction that this item was worth both the price and the time it took to get here.  The Curmudgeon is delighted with it.  😀  I did good!

The Paypal debacle

Well, I tried to open a Paypal account again.  I have one now but they don’t like my bank or something.  I’ve jumped through their hoops a few too many times and I refuse to leap another one.   Let’s just say I have a ‘minimal’ account with them and leave it at that.

Automated teller machines hate me too.

I do believe it is my bank’s fault.  They’ve never once in 37 years had the correct numbers on our checks.  We always have had a problem when someplace wants a routing number or other such thing.

Once a year, at the very least, I have to call them and ask for the proper numbers.

How about you?  Did you jump through all their hoops?  Or, perhaps you are smarter than I am and you don’t deal with them.

What I’m watching

Out of all the reality shows, most of which can go away–far, far away, I do enjoy The Voice.  I love the blind auditions and will be watching again tonight.

After The Voice, I’ll be switching to the Sci Fi channel to watch Lost Girl.

I didn’t watch the Super Bowl yesterday.  I haven’t watched one for 37 years–since I’ve been married.  I used to watch a lot of football when I lived at home.  With all daughters at least one of us managed to enjoy watching the games with our father.

You all have a good one!

Updates

The Curmudgeon had a strange day yesterday.  His balance sucked but he said he felt pretty darned good in spite of that.  Go figure.

Gavin and Patty are full of energy and chase each other about every morning now.  I guess his UTI is getting better.

The roof on the MIL’s garage is STILL not done.  The Curmudgeon talked to the roofer and got a few excuses.  We’ll see what happens.  If it doesn’t get finished soon he’ll have me to deal with and I’m never as easy to appease as The Curmudgeon.

Writing is still eluding me.  Maybe once the house is finally on the market I’ll relax enough to work.

You all have a good one!

Tight budget month

Did you ever have one of those months where the money in the checking account seems to have disappeared into a black hole?

Yeah, that’s us this month.  The vet bills–many more than usual, the repair of the old desk top, The Curmudgeon’s new glasses–both pair,  bills, groceries…oops!  The balance got low faster than usual.  We’re going to have to budget carefully for the rest of the month.

Makes me real glad I put the lap top purchase on the charge card.  I figure I can clear that charge in two or three payments.

I’ll need to stay out of Amazon and keep The Curmudgeon away from all those catalogs.

At least he’ll get his birthday present next week–they finally shipped his new cane.
