Opting out of all those e-mails loading my in box
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Yes, I’ll sign your petition for equal rights, for justice, for anything I agree with these days.
However, I cannot donate even a thin dime to all your causes so please when I opt out of your e-mails, I am opting out because all you do is ask for money.
I still believe in your cause, I just can’t afford you.

Should have mentioned dinner first…

“Hey Luce, wanna go out?”
Lucy runs to the front door.
“Oh no you don’t. Time to go pee, you don’t go pee out front.”
She runs into the kitchen, as I reach to hook the leash on her collar, she does an about face and races back to the front door.
“Get back here!”
She bows.
“Come on.”
She saunters to the kitchen. I reach for her and she’s off like a shot.
“Lucy! Quit playing games. It’s time to eat and you need to go out first.”
Lucy explodes into a wild gallop, slides into home at my feet, and waits for me to hook her up.
Food. It’s always food.

I abhor the abuse of animals
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I love animals and when I hear of one being abused it hurts my heart.

This is Lucy, she lives with us. We love her very much, she sure has the life.
Lucy didn’t always have such a lush life, she carries scars all over her little body from abuses of some form.
Now she’s loved, happy, and spoiled rotten.
She’s the lucky one.
Unlike a Bull Terrier whose graphic picture of his bloody dead body is being used all over the internet to illicit horror on his part. He is not lucky. He was a victim of people’s ignorance and cruelty.

Fireworks, I still hate ’em
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Poor Lucy, blissfully asleep. Stretched out full length and snoring like an old drunk, she woke up and piled off the couch like a shot when one very loud firework went off.
Next thing I know she’s opening her crate door and hiding in the back of her crate.
I drop the towel down over the unlatched door and she rattles around then plops down to go to sleep in there.
I am pissed that she’s so scared she hides.
I am pissed that this is only the beginning of her terror filled nights yet to come as the idiots keep setting them off, 1 here, 1 there intermittently, all night, every night. The entire summer.

I could comment on the shootings in Alexandria, VA, during Republican Congressional baseball practice but it has been rehashed a million times.
All I’ll say is that the man who did it was another domestic abuser nutjob. You can find them in any political affiliation, unfortunately.
Instead I’m going to talk about the lack of respect shown to Senator Kamala Harris. Sorry guys, but you need to treat her with the same respect you expect to get. In fact y’all need to treat ALL women with the same respect you want to be treated with.

Oh wow, out of the house and for fun!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I did something yesterday that I haven’t done in a very long time.
G and I went to a movie.
Actually, we went out to lunch and then to a movie. We do go out to lunch at least twice a month but it’s been ages since we’ve gone to a movie.
We went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie and had a blast. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of seeing it, make sure you sit through all of the credits, there’s a surprise at the very end.
They’ve redone the multiplex theater we usually go to (yes, we’ve not gone there in a long while.) The theater we were in only seats 61 people and the seats are so comfortable I wanted to bring them home.

Porch sitting dog
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I do believe that Miss Lucy is going to be one of those great porch sitting dogs.
The other day I cleaned up and put The Curmudgeon’s mother’s old plastic garden bench on the front porch. (We’d had it in various spots in the yard.)
Yesterday, Lucy spotted the neighbor seated on the porch wall between our porches and began to bark at her. Not a mean bark, she was doing her ‘I want to go see her now’ bark.
So, I leashed her and took her out to say hi to Susan. All tail wags and happiness Lucy got to greet her friend.
Susan’s friend showed up so she went to talk to him and Lucy got tired of waiting for her to return. I showed her the bench and invited her to sit there with me. She had a great time.
“Gee, Mom. Wouldn’t the bench be great with a soft cushion on it? Like the couch?”

Yay for warm weather

To relax on the porch with a glass of wine…divine!
I love that an entire small bottle of Clover Hill chocolate cherry Chamborcin fit into one large wine glass.
Read a few chapters of a new book.

Back to his normal self
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The Curmudgeon bounced back pretty well.
Lucy made sure he got plenty of exercise throwing her big, red, squeaky ball for her.
She really loved that he shared some of his grilled cheese with her.

So this happened to our day….
Posted by doggonedmysteries

He had an appointment with his Neurologist. Before we left the house he seemed weak. I dropped him at the front door and went to park as usual. Come to find out, he fell by the front door and someone helped him up AND helped him go to the neurologist’s office before I got up there.
He was very weak when I got to the office. I converted his walker to transfer chair mode and wheeled him into his appointment when they called his name.
The PA took his vitals and temperature. His temperature was 101.4 and he was getting weaker by the minute.
We all decided that calling an ambulance was probably the best idea.
I drove to the hospital–beating the ambulance there.
His temperature rose to 103.6 in the ambulance.
Several hours later, in the hospital they got his fever down, ran a ton of tests, and could find…nothing.
Yep, there we were again with another fever of unknown origin. He also felt well enough that they sent him home rather than admit him.
(Darn, there went a couple days of vacation for me. 😉 )
So, he’s home.

To Great Britain

I stand with you after the tragedy of this latest attack in London.
With me stand many other Americans.
We are ashamed of #45 and cannot apologize enough for that egomaniac’s small minded comments.
Stand strong, stand united, and be kind to each other.
Sincerely,
Me and all the others who….

DIY OMG SOS!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So many projects that he never finished or even started.
All of which he is incapable of doing now.
I look at what needs doing and my back clenches in pain.
The clearing out, the painting, the building of things, and fixing up things.
The indoor projects the outdoor projects.
The clean up, the repairs…
