Zzzzzzz’s like crazy
Posted by doggonedmysteries
My allergies were acting up the other night. Therefore, I took two Benadryl before bed instead of the usual one. I did not hear a single sound until one in the afternoon. LOL!
Talk about zonked out. The fact that I got only three hours of sleep the night before didn’t help either. It’s a good thing The Curmudgeon had a decent day and didn’t need me. We agree, I probably needed it.
He claims that the dogs were well-behaved and didn’t ask to out as often as usual. I’m not sure about that, they are real stinkers at times. He may have been sparing me some guilt.
I do believe he had them up very early and that’s why they wanted their naps so bad by two o’clock that Gavin even resorted to scolding me. At seven last night they were begging to go to bed. My dogs are not night owls like their Mommy.
Now, it is time for me to scoot out of here and make sure they get their late night out.
You all have a good one!

I am so bored with cooking dinners! I can stand in front of the freezer or fridge staring at the contents forever and my mind goes blank on what to make.
It’s not that I lack ingredients, my freezer and cupboards are loaded with food. I guess what I lack is inspiration, energy, interest, and ideas. I’m sure I am not the only one who feels this way.
I could eat a sandwich every night for dinner and it wouldn’t phase me a bit. However, The Curmudgeon is not that fond of them. I enjoy going out to dinner, but he doesn’t, he hates going anywhere these days.
I could order in, but then I still have to do the dishes…

A thank you to our local firemen.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Yesterday began with a call to my phone at 8:30 a.m., The Curmudgeon’s voice swam into my dreams and yanked me awake. “I can’t get up.” Four words that send me into a heart pounding, adrenaline pumping, wide-awake, on my feet dash for wherever he is.
Once I found him, I knew I couldn’t get him up. I called the neighbor, he didn’t answer his phone. I asked The Curmudgeon what he thought we should do, I wasn’t going to attempt to lift him since my back is just beginning to feel better.
The Curmudgeon decided to call 911. I am so glad he did. Four fireman showed up at the door, they had him up and in his chair in mere seconds. Thank you so much guys!!!

Lazy snuggles
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Having spent a lazy day loafing about, reading, and generally being totally lazy, my back pain began to ease up. YAY!
It’s so nice to not have that nagging at me today. What’s even nicer is, I don’t have to worry about anything for a few days.
I spent my evening snuggling with Gavin on the couch while Patty snuggled with her Daddy in his chair. We all enjoyed this lazy day of snuggles.

Yes, to a nothing day.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
How nice it would be to spend today doing nothing. I could use a nothing day. I spent all of the last few days cleaning, weeding, washing, vacuuming, dusting, reorganizing, and I’m still not done.
My back says, “Enough! Take a freaking break and get off your feet so I can rest.
I do believe I’ll listen to it. Besides, Monday afternoon the new rugs will arrive, I’ll need my back in good shape then.
You all have a good one!

Bird watching…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I love the sound of the birds in the yard and this weather has been perfect for having the windows open so I can hear them. The echinacea is going to seed much to the delight of the gold finches. They sing like crazy while they are munching down on their favorite seeds.
The cardinals nested in the neighbor’s trees and have used my yard as their playground. It’s a delight to watch them.
I have a pair of catbirds who spend most of their day in the yard, along with robins, a few wrens, woodpeckers, grackles, and starlings. We have house finches, chickadees, nuthatches, brown thrashers, and several varieties of sparrows who love to take dirt baths under my flowering almond.
However, the kings of our flying friends are the hawks. We have red tails, sharp shinned, and coopers. We also have Peregrine falcons.
This year we were disappointed not to have a duck visitation.
We live smack dab in the middle of town, I always find it amazing as to the variety we do get.
You all have a good one.

Updates for the week
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The packages I expected finally arrived. Color me happy. Hurray! The sushi plate sets arrived in time for me to surprise G with a special luncheon.
G and I went to the farmers market. Then we went to Wegman’s where I bought us a special treat for our lunch, we had a lovely sushi lunch on my new plates. I think we both earned it.
Found out The Curmudgeon forgot to take his morning pills yesterday , completely explaining why he had such a bad day. Unfortunately, I have enough difficulty remembering to take my own medications, having to make sure he takes his is a stretch.

MS sucks.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The Curmudgeon had another really bad MS day. He finally gave in and went back to his bed. Sleep did not come, he grew weaker, and more miserable as the afternoon turned into evening.
He refused to eat dinner. Gee, I could have skipped cooking and rested had I known he’d do that. He did take his medications. However, they didn’t help. The Curmudgeon is having great difficulty walking and I cannot pick him up from the floor. This makes for a very frustrating time for both of us.
I hope that today he feels better. I will know as soon as I wake up because these days he never lets me have one moment to catch my breath before he needs this and that. I do wish he’d wait until after I had my first cup of coffee. I function so much better then.
Keep your fingers crossed that he is improved by the time I wake. You all have a good one.

Really USPS? Again?! I think you need to fire the carrier.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I am once again battling the USPS carrier. Two packages are missing. Both are marked on tracking as “attempted to deliver” and I know they weren’t. The one package, they say was attempted to deliver twice now. Nope. Both days they claim they attempted to deliver the packages, The Curmudgeon sat by the door all day waiting for them.
Here we go again. I talked to customer relations early yesterday morning –woke me. No, not pleased with that either. I gave her the tracking number of the package they claimed they attempted to deliver.
We got our mail and one very small package out of the three I expected. The attempted to deliver package and another one were not with our mail.
When I looked at my Amazon orders tonight, there it was an “attempted to deliver” notation WTF? No they weren’t. I called and left a message on the customer relations person’s voice mail. <sigh> She will probably wake me again this morning.
You all have a good one.

I wonder what the pups will think…

I’ll be throwing away my other living room rug on Thursday. I am so glad to do this since this rug (and the smaller rug I tossed out a few weeks ago) is worn so thin that it was like standing on the bare floor.
Vacuuming was useless, both rugs were so interwoven with short stiff dog hairs, they looked awful no matter how often I vacuumed them.
To top it all off I’d grown rather tired of them. Twenty years of lounging around on my floors is quite long enough.
Below you can see my new rugs. One is a 10 by 7 and the other is a 5 by 7 and no fringe! Gosh, I hated that fringe on the old rugs. All my dogs liked to snack on the fringe and my vacuum cleaner did too. The colors will go well with the furniture, and with everything so muted and neutral, if I so desire, I can go hog-wild on wall color or accents.
You all have a good one!

What now?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It is impossible to be in two places at once. Then why is it that everyone expects me to be everywhere at the same time?
I’ve had one of those weekends where I felt as though I should be at least two people. Track shoes included. Batteries aren’t included, so much for extra energy.
I’d no sooner get started on one thing when The Curmudgeon or the dogs insisted I assist them in doing something else. The most frequent demand came from the dogs. “Momma we need to go out!”
I ran the stairs so many times I swear I should have dropped at least ten pounds. I have three more stair runs to do for sure yet tonight. Holy cow.
Is it no wonder that I’d love to have a one story home? Or, at least, a home where most of the work is on the same floor.
You all have a good one!

Leave it cleaner than you found it.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
One family rule, taught to us from early childhood, one I never forgot and still practice religiously: Clean up where you picnic, fish, hike, or just plain enjoy the outdoors. Never leave anything behind!
English: Waikiki beach trash cans (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
I take it so far as to clean up after other people who are piggish enough to litter wherever I am unlucky to follow behind them. I’ve been known to haul out garbage bags full of other people’s trash.
There’s nothing worse than to set out to enjoy the beauty of nature and to find it covered in someone’s beverage cans and other non-biodegradable trash. Especially when the area provides many convenient trash barrels for your convenience.
Before you drop that food wrapper or can, think about the next person. Don’t be a lazy pig, use the trash cans or, better yet, take your garbage home with you. Pick up any garbage you find and leave the place cleaner than you found it.
It’s not hard to do. If everyone did this, imagine how lovely our parks, beaches, rivers, and even our own streets would be.
You all have a good one!
