Cleaning spree?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
One advantage to this miserably hot weather is that I am inside in the AC and bored enough to finally get my bedroom clean from top to, well… almost the bottom. I still need to do the floors.
Then I need to clean the hall, bathroom, stairs, living room, and kitchen. Yeah. No. I’m not that energetic. It may or may not happen. I will be wheezing for a few days as it is because of all the dust I stirred up already.
Off for a hair cut later today. I can’t wait. I am going to have my stylist cut it as short as possible. She balks, but my hair grows so fast I do not need it too long within a couple of weeks especially if this heat keeps up.
The Curmudgeon skipped his shot this week. With this heat I can’t blame him. The shot makes him weak enough as it is and with the addition of the heat and humidity there’s no telling how he would be.
You all have a good one.

OMFG! This is way too hot!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
93 degrees with 83% humidity is not proper summer weather for Pennsylvania! Argh!
After midnight and we have 80 degrees with 83% humidity. You have to be kidding me! No! No! No! What the heck happened to our mid eighties with low humidity and dropping down to mid to high sixties at night?
Jeez, this has to stop. I can’t get any yard work done and it is beginning to look like a freaking jungle out there. HEEELLLLP! The plants are taking over!!!
You can’t breathe outside, the air is thick enough to cut a slice and chew it. The dogs don’t want to take more than three steps into the yard to pee and then dash back in to flop in front of the AC.
You all have a good one.

New addition to Casa Doggonedmysteries…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Lily Rose arrived Saturday. She had to fend off Patty’s attention within minutes. Patty was strictly told no, no, bad dog, she is Mommy’s!!! Going to have to keep an eye on that pup. Gavin has ignored Lily Rose.
Sunday I took Lily Rose over to meet G and Barry. Barry is not with us much, his medications knock him out. Our dear friend is down to less than 120 lbs, he is frail, very weak, and now on liquid medications because he can’t swallow pills. Therefore, I was tickled when he smiled at Lily Rose. It’s the first reaction I’ve had out of him in weeks. Even the Hospice nurse was pleased he reacted. Please keep him in your thoughts.
Keep your eyes on the blog, you never know where Lily Rose will go next….
You all have a good one!

Another Skully in my collection
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So yesterday I went to Target to get sippy cups for Barry. He hasn’t the strength to suck on a straw and he has trouble holding a normal glass. I don’t have kids, I don’t have grand-kids, therefore, baby departments confuse the hell out of me.
As I stood in front of a multitude of choices, my brain froze. I guess it was obvious that I had no idea what I was doing because a woman nearby asked me what the problem was. Whereupon I explained the situation.
Miracle of miracles she’d been in the same situation a few months back with her father. She quickly grabbed two types from the racks and said they both worked well with him.
The Goddess smiled because while unloading my purchases at the register, I spotted a scarf that called to me. I dashed across the aisle and snagged it.

Whew, made it to the weekend!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It has been an exhausting week around here. I hope next week is less tiring. Even the dogs have felt the stress and have been angels. They know when The Curmudgeon is having a bad day and they try very hard to not make too many demands.
However, as soon as The Curmudgeon is feeling better they do take advantage. They were not angels today. That’s okay though they needed to raise a bit of hell if only to get me laughing.
I plan to take advantage of some quiet time and sneak in a little reading.
You all have a good one.

If it isn’t one thing…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Thursday morning, I woke to the sound of The Curmudgeon in distress, leapt out of bed and ran to see what was going on. He’d fallen, got his foot tangled in the bathroom rug. He couldn’t get up. My neighbor wasn’t available either.
By the time I finally got The Curmudgeon to his bed, sweat poured off me as if I’d just stepped out of a downpour, and we have the AC on. By then I was also cussing up a storm. He scares me so much when he does that, and I feel so helpless, all I can do is cuss. He lets me blow off steam, he knows I need to do it.
Once I had him settled in, I went down to take care of the dogs. When they were pottied and fed, I grabbed a cup of coffee, sat at my computer and caught up on the latest news.
I still hadn’t cooled down by the time I’d had my second coffee. I called G and told her not to worry about her dinner. I was going to take care of it.
Later, I picked up two subs, one for G and the other for me. The Curmudgeon had a hamburger steak, and his favorite tater tots since he can’t eat a sub. His idea, not mine.
I hope when I wake today, I will have an easy day. I need one for a change.
You all have a good one.

Writing is a struggle now. I hope you all don’t mind the pictures I took out in the yard today instead.
First time this Day lily has bloomed since I planted it two years ago.

Enjoy, my friends.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It’s hard to keep your sense of humor when you are watching a dear, dear friend suffer. Therefore, tonight I am posting more garden pictures. I would’ve posted brand new ones but my camera ate the last of my AA batteries. Need to buy more.
So sad
Posted by doggonedmysteries
My dear friend’s husband is on a downward slide and I want to help them but there is not much I can do. I do have hugs for her, deliver wine, meals, and chocolate but I feel as though it isn’t enough. You can tell he’s not comfortable with me seeing him as he is and it breaks my heart. We’ve known them for forty years. So sad his light will soon leave this world.
Then there are the four-footed losses, so many have crossed the rainbow bridge.
The mood around here is subdued and sad.
You all have a good one. Hugs your friends and family and don’t forget to love on your furry friends and family while you’re at it.

Living with Bull Terriers, an owner’s survival guide.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
First thing you must do to survive life with a bull terrier is hang on to your sense of humor. If you can’t laugh, then you most certainly will not survive.
Buy cheap furniture so you don’t develop an attachment. Bully owners lose more furniture to their dogs. Yes, I have lost a bent wood rocker, a few sofas, and several chairs to ours over the last 33 years.
If you really love the item, it will have a short life span. They will chew, knock over, break, smash, crunch, maim, anything you think you treasure. Buy replaceable items, do not waste your money on anything that is not mass-produced.
Never say never. “My dog never……..” They will make a liar out of you every time.
When least expected, they will trip you, knock you down, or in some way injure you. Always keep ace bandages and crutches on hand.
Do not believe anything that tells you a toy is indestructible. They will find a way.
That innocent look does not mean they are innocent, start looking for what they’ve destroyed.
Anyone else have some survival tips? You all have a good one!

Heat? What heat? Oh, you mean outside!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Go outside? In this heat? No Mommy we’d rather take up the entire couch and soak up the air conditioning.
When we’re not taking up the couch, we are wrestling with each other…inside. We still don’t want to go out unless we have to go.
All that play makes for tired pups.
No, we don’t want to go out. We’re fine snoozing under the AC.

Will they never stop?

Another fourth of July has passed by, thank goodness. However, around here that only means we have several more months of illegal fireworks to drive us crazy. The poor Curmudgeon was kept up well past his bed time and will be a cranky curmudgeon come daylight. Some persistent idiot is still setting off loud aerials after 1 a.m.

This someone thinks his/her Chinese water torture of setting off a loud aerial bang every so often all night is hilarious. I do not. I have a splitting headache and would like to take one of those loud aerials, stick it up the ass of whomever it is setting them off every freaking night for a month, and light the damned thing.
Why can’t people come up with a better way to celebrate without the use of fireworks? I hear of pets completely freaking out from the noise and staying traumatized for months. ERs brimming with ‘idiot accidents’ of burns and blown off body parts to where they look like a war zone, and this is a ‘fun’ way to celebrate?
I have always found the use of fireworks by non-professionals the dumbest thing ever. Proof to me of how dangerous they are, was the 4th of July where The Curmudgeon’s father almost removed three fingers of his right hand with an M8O. Yep, his was an ‘idiot accident.’ He did lose the tip of his middle finger and a good amount of flesh from the other two. That, of course, makes flipping the bird less provocative.
You all have a good one.
