Another day…

We didn’t get as much snow as it had sounded like we were going to get, much to my relief.  AJ came and had our driveway and walk cleared in no time.  The street isn’t in bad shape so if we have to go anywhere we can easily go.

If I was on my desk top I would’ve taken and downloaded pictures for the blog but I have no desire to load my lap top with pictures now.

Each time the dogs went out they reacted differently to the snow.  One time Gavin loved it the next he couldn’t get out and back in fast enough.  Patty raced about eating snow on a few trips and on others she too would dash out and right back in.  I have weird dogs.  Another Bull Terrier owner calls these dogs ‘short bus dogs’ by cracky she has the right of it.

You all keep safe and have a good one.

So they say we’ll be getting snow…

Sometime in the wee hours of  this morning we’re to get a snowstorm.  I am not looking forward to it.  The one we had in October was plenty enough for me.  At least I have my winter boots by the back door so when the dogs need to go out I can switch from my flip-flops to my boots.

I had rather enjoyed the strange weather that was (so far) this winter.  Weeks of fifty degree days kept me from complaining.  Look out, because when the snow hits, it’s going to be bitch, bitch, bitch!  Hehehe.

I won’t say how the dogs will react since they always make a liar out of me when I do try to predict their behavior.

Hey, all of you who aren’t getting this weather, enjoy what you’ve got.  For those of you who are getting the snow, stay warm and drink some cocoa for me.  You all have a good one!  I’ll catch you later.

I still want my old desk top

I’m glad The Curmudgeon shies away from using my new lap top.  This is a good thing because it means he’ll leave it alone all the time once my old workhorse is back home.  Yeah, the lap top is cool, but I’m used to my desk top and I miss it.

I did have a difficult time getting used to the mouse pad, so when I am using the lap top at my desk, I hook my mouse up to it.

I have no idea how long my old work horse will be in the computer hospital–not much longer I hope.  However, if he can save most of my hard drive he can keep it for as long as he needs to.

I still want to shoot the malicious turd who malware bombed me.  I had some pictures on that computer I hadn’t saved to my flash drive yet.  {Sigh}  I hope they aren’t lost forever.  Hell, just shooting them isn’t good enough–they should suffer through a bunch of torture first then get shot.

You all stay healthy and have a good one!

Six month check up

My cardiologist is pleased.  He took me off of one medication today.  The nasty one that was making me cough so much.  However, he did raise the dosage on another.  The one for my cholesterol.

Now if I can only take off the weight that I put on over the last few months.  Comes with the smoking cessation the doctor said.  He’s not worried about it but I am!!

I hope you all have a good one!  I know I will now that the cough inducing med is off my list.

Shoot them all — Yep, I’m in a rotten mood.

I am NOT a happy camper since someone bombed me with a malware bomb and sent my computer off to the computer hospital for a few days.  You’d think I’d be a little happy since The Curmudgeon decided that it was time for me to have a lap top as a back up computer.

Well, that sort of took a lot of the sting out of it.  However, to those of you who think it is fun to hack, send viruses, worms, and malware out into the world I’m here to tell you that it causes heartbreak–I lost a couple of book chapters I worked very hard on thank you very much…I thought I’d backed them up as I normally do but I must’ve been over tired.

It cost us plenty money wise–paying for the repairs and buying the lap top.  This means we’ll have to go without something this month–maybe a medicine.  Did you even consider that?  I doubt it because you only think of yourself.  Personally, I hope all of you who do this rotten crap get caught and I wish they’d stand you against a wall and have a firing squad shoot you.

Winter weather again

We actually got a little winter weather last night.  Sometime around 8 p.m. it began to sleet.  Now my yard has an icy coating that the dogs aren’t too fond of walking in.  Truth be told neither am I.

At least it wasn’t snow and I have no plans to go anywhere today.  I went shopping yesterday which made the dogs happy since they were almost out of food.

Fortunately, the temperature is supposed to hit around 42 degrees today so that icy coating should disappear.

Hope you all have a very nice day.

The right to privacy

I no doubt upset a niece yesterday.  I did not intend to do so; I was merely defending my right to privacy.  She had posted a childhood picture of me online and had tagged it with my name.  (Another relative posts childhood pictures of me with no consideration and she refuses to take them down when asked to.  She’s not a nice person.)  This is the first time this niece posted a picture of me and I think I shocked her by my protest.  However, I do not apologize for my actions.

Do we not have very little privacy left to us as it is these days?  You will notice that on my blog and Facebook page there are very few pictures of me.  Could it be because I don’t want them out there?  Why yes!

I consider my right to privacy as valuable as yours is.  I’m sure you wouldn’t appreciate me posting bad pictures of you or your private thoughts on the web whenever the mood strikes me.  I will ask your permission to post a picture or a quote before doing so.  I expect the same courtesy in return.  Yes, it is courteous to ask one’s permission.  In my case, it is also a copyright violation to post any of my stuff without my explicit permission.

Gavin’s recovery day 2

When The Curmudgeon got up, I went to bed trusting him to keep an eye on Gavin.  According to him, Gavin spent most of the day sleeping.  This is a good thing.  He did keep Gavin and Patty separated all day since he didn’t think he could manage them if she got too peppy and wanted to play with Gavin.

It turns out she was happy to have her Daddy to herself each time she was out of her crate and made no moves to pester Gavin through the crate door at all.

Once I finally woke up, The Curmudgeon was already down for his nap.  They did tire him out today and since Gavin was so good about his ear, he trusted him to leave it alone.  Something I wouldn’t have done.  Yes, I did scold him a tad.

I decided to give the dogs a chance to be together.  Gavin was out of his crate and I let Patty join him.  She gave his ear a couple of good sniffing and then left him alone.  She didn’t try to engage him in play so I’m guessing she knew he wasn’t up for it.

If all continues to go well, Gavin should have his stitches out on the 23rd.  Patty will be happy since I’m sure it is taking all her best behavior to keep from teasing him into playing with her.

Dog nurse

For the next several days I’ll be playing nurse to Gavin while he recovers from his ear surgery and tooth extraction and cleaning.  Poor baby is sore and we’ll have to watch him closely because of the stitches in his ear.

He came home starved and fussy.  We couldn’t get away with skipping his dinner–he insisted.  He only got a half portion though.  He did keep it down with no problem and I’m sure that by breakfast we’ll hear all about how stingy we were.

     Wish me luck.  😀

No food after 7… Oh, he’s going to scream!

You try sleeping in this thing!

At eight this morning, Gavin goes to the vet to get the hematoma on his ear repaired.  Instructions are no food after seven P.M. Monday night, no water after ten.

Gavin won’t be a happy camper when his breakfast doesn’t hit his dish.  (Digging out my ear plugs.)  He’s a screamer when he misses a meal.

The vet’s office always tells us no food until the next day but they don’t have to live with him.  He’ll eat because we won’t be able to stand the screaming  high pitched scoldy barking.

If I remember right, he’ll also be wearing the collar of shame (see picture above) for however long it stays in one piece.  Last time it was a whole day.  Wish us luck!

Parrot dogs…a new breed? LOL!

I have to laugh at these two, they will lie down in their crates but only Patty will go to sleep before the towels are dropped down.  Gavin will NOT sleep unless he’s covered.  He’s done this since he was 8 weeks old.  If we forget to drop his towel down over the door he’ll bark at us.

This happens twice a day here.  Once every afternoon when he says it is nap time and later when he wants to go to bed for the night.

Drop the towel and he’s snoring in minutes.  I love my parrot dogs.

I knew it was coming but…

Price Pfister F0364DSS Treviso Double Handle Kitchen Faucet, Stainless Steel

I’ve had a kitchen faucet and sprayer on my Amazon wish list for quite a while.  I finally had to order it last night.  Our present one had a minor leakage problem that suddenly got worse.

I wasn’t ready to buy the faucet.  We had a few other things we planned to buy first.  However, this constant switching of priority repairs seems  normal for around here.  I’m just glad I had one all picked out and I don’t have to scramble to find exactly what I want.

Once you buy a house, there’s never an end to spending money to keep it in good repair.

Now the top priority, which was porch repairs, is second on the list.  It will have to wait a while longer.
