Lovely evening and the sake gets a grade

Lovely Sunday evening with G. We sat on her deck and played Uno and Farkle.

We talked and blew off steam that we’d accumulated over the week.

We also tried the Moonstone Asian Pear Sake. On a scale of one to five, five being the best and one being the worst we give This one a four.

This sake is best served chilled and is smooth with a fabulous true pear flavor, a real treat for us.

Lucy wasn’t happy with me being gone for so long. She’ll get over it.

Slow day

Too hot to work outside. Kept The Curmudgeon inside.

Worked a bit on indoor chores. I’ll never catch up on those.

Finished doing half the laundry–his stuff.

Cooked a nice and simple dinner.

Took it easy the rest of the time.

That felt good for a change.

The best part was snuggling with this girl.

The great Sake experiment

G and I are on our way to trying different Sakes. I bought our first bottle this week. This one is a fairly inexpensive American Sake, Moonstone Asian Pear.

We are looking forward to trying it. When we do, I’ll write our own review of it and any others we try.

In the meantime, if you have any suggestions for us to add to our list of Sakes to try, keeping in mind we are on a tight budget so no expensive ones, please give us some suggestions and let us know if your suggestion is best served warmed or cold.

Rambling day

The Curmudgeon was okay so G and I left for a day of rambling the countryside.

I filled my gas tank…good thing.

We headed out to the country. We love driving along on back country roads where we have a good chance of finding roadside stands selling fresh produce.

We had a plan. We had to keep changing the plan because we kept hitting roads where traffic was backed up due to construction or accidents.

Stopped for lunch at an Arbys. G had coupons and they came in handy.

Our best stop of the day was at Echo Hill. They sell all sorts of bulk dried fruits, veggies, flours, spices and more. It’s easy to spend a fortune there. We didn’t break our budgets and came out with a nice amount of stuff each.

After that we stopped at a few roadside produce stands and an antique shop we’d been dying to stop at for years.

We didn’t get home until 5 p.m.

A day away from home…nice

G and I used yesterday to run errands.

We stopped for a quick snack and coffee at Panera first. Then we went to Target and moseyed around there for a bit.

I picked up the Mad Max movie The Curmudgeon wanted. Anyone want it? We watched it, not impressed. The old Mad Max movies had some story to them this did not.

After Target we picked up a few groceries and then made a stop at the liquor store.

I have resupplied my wine fridge.

(Note: wine fridge is on the back porch and is the old (over 42 years) copper tone fridge from our kitchen that we have twice replaced with ‘new more efficient’ ones, one of which died rather quickly and dramatically, after a short couple of years.)

I think this sounds good about now…

Fun to see old TV shows

Watching some old reruns of Murder She Wrote the past few weeks has given me some smiles. I enjoy seeing some of the big stars that were guest stars.

The same goes for many other old shows I sometimes watch late at night.

Do you have any favorite oldies but goodies that you watch?

Another damned day gone to hell

When I feel like I have the energy to get some yard work done, it’s too freaking hot out. After an hour I am wiped out.

When I want to work inside, The Curmudgeon complains.

“The Vacuum is too loud.”

Really? Tough shit.

“Do you have to keep blocking my view of the TV?”

You see all this stuff between you and the TV? It’s not dusting itself. And I don’t see you doing it. Oh, gee something that you could do while seated and watching TV. Do you ever do it? No.

“When’s dinner?”

When I am good and ready to make it. Do you starve around here?

Yeah, I look forward to getting out of bed each day…

Dont make me adult Lucy

Game night

I’d almost forgotten how much fun Uno Attack could be. G and I played it for hours last night.

We’ve decided to make Sunday nights game and wine night. We both need it.

Sunday is the worst night for her. Any night is a bad night for me. So we might as well make Sunday night fun. Last time we played Wineopoly.

There are some days where you do get enough sleep…

My room was nice and cool. I took a muscle relaxant to ease my back pain and a Benadryl for my allergies.

I turned off the light and picked up my Kindle. Read a chapter and grew sleepy enough to close it and settle in for sleep.

I didn’t hear a thing until I woke up eight hours later.

YES! I got eight hours of uninterrupted sleep.

I was a pleasant person all day.

Here's to you

You don’t have to ask me twice

G’s car wouldn’t start so she called to see if I could drive her on her errands today. I was out of bed and ready to go in no time. I even (GASP) skipped my coffee.

After doing all of her errands we then set out to do a couple of things for our own pleasure.

We stopped at Panera for a much-needed coffee. Yes, by that time, I was tongue-dragging-on-the-ground desperate.

Then we discovered a new pet store, more convenient to home AND with do it yourself dog bathing facilities! At a price cheap enough that they may just have my business, not only for our dog food, which they carry, but for regular dog baths.

Sumbuddy hidez me!

Halp!

Sleep deprivation is going to be the death of me

Began my day with less than ten minutes sleep. Yep, I no sooner began to doze off when The Curmudgeon was calling me for help.

What?

Cranky?

Me?

Oh, hell yeah.

Went back to bed, tossed and turned, fall asleep long enough to not hear him call me again. (He’s okay, he managed.) Woke up, probably heard him but was too late to realize it was him. Tossed and turned, got up only to have him yell at me for not responding.

I yelled back–keep in mind I’d had about two hours of sleep in total.

I would’ve spent the rest of the day wired, except I went over to G’s house and talked her into going along with me to Target and to get two gas tanks for the grill. I can cook outside again! At least I got one thing done off my ‘to do’ list. We should have gone out for a dessert or something too. Maybe next time it’ll be lunch or drinks. Yeah, we can do drinks…

While you’re sitting there doing nothing…

I gave The Curmudgeon a deadline. He has to find someone to fix the front porch before Halloween. I don’t want G and I to be breaking our necks out there handing out candy.

I figure since he spends his entire day seated in front of the TV, he could make phone calls and interview people.

I have enough to do.
