A couple of good days in a row?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It’s a damned shame that I am afraid to talk about when The Curmudgeon has a few decent days in a row for fear of jinxing it.
He has so few of them.
He did manage to scare the crap out of me today by, once again, not leaving me a note when he’s off somewhere. He claims he can’t write well enough to leave one.
Looks like I need to make a special board with a magnet he can move around.
I went to:
the pharmacy
the store
to get a blood test
a doctor appointment
I think that would work. Either that or have Lucy keep him in check.

Rainy day
Posted by doggonedmysteries
With it comes the rainy day blahs. Not the blues, the blahs.
Woke up with no desire to do anything. Not unusual before coffee, but even with two cups on board, I still felt like doing nothing.
Gloomy, dreary, blah day. Even the pups weren’t interested in anything but dozing the day away.
The Curmudgeon spent the day being more curmudgeonly than usual.
Oh, how I long for a life on the beach where, even with rain, I can enjoy watching the waves.

Overview
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So there’s rain predicted for the next couple of days. Happy to see it, we’ve been a bit dry lately.
Lucy’s boyfriend and his brother made quick work of the magnolia tree branches so there’s that off my list of things that need doing before winter.
I’m sure my mowers will appreciate having more headroom too.
Caulking, cement work, and other things will, hopefully get finished before the cold weather hits us.
I would rather be out of here long before then and moved to my dream beach home…but, that is a dream.

The revamping of the magnolia tree
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Trimmed out more magnolia tree branches, using the loppers not the chain saw this time.
I have Lucy’s boyfriend on tap for the cutting of the heavier parts of the branches with the chain saw tomorrow.
It will be nice for our mowers when they no longer have to duck so many low branches while mowing.
My next project is getting the rest of the rocks in the yard relocated to where they won’t interfere with the mowing.

CVS puts three MS drugs on its no longer covered list.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Avonex, Extavia, and Plegridy all three are MS drugs on CVS’s no longer covered’ list.
It’s bad enough there are so few drugs for patients with MS but to not cover three from that short list is despicable.
It’s all about profit. I say a huge profit needs to be set aside where the health and welfare of a person (or animal) is concerned. Do not price drugs out of reach or drop them from drug plans when they have been proven to be helpful.
Thank goodness some drug companies do offer help to those of us who desperately need it.
Shame on the ones that don’t.
Hey drug companies and pharmacies, go get your huge profits from vanity drugs like Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis and lower the prices on drugs for heart disease, high blood pressure, and diseases like MS and COPD. Lower the prices on antibiotics, vaccines, and other life saving drugs.

Greedy drug companies
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Finally there was a medication that helped Gavin with his allergies. It was expensive but it helped so we paid for it. Lucy is also on it and it has helped her some.
Went for a refill yesterday and the price has almost tripled. I might not be able to afford refills after this. I will have to rob Peter to pay Paul this month after paying for the medication.
Not my vet’s fault, it is the manufacturer.
Greedy freaking drug companies not only rip us off on our own medications but they keep many pets from having a happy, healthy life by jacking their pricing through the roof and making them hard to get.
Shame on them.
These two deserve to be comfortable.

Too short to use a chain saw safely?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Almost.
I did manage to trim one honking big branch off the magnolia tree. Came close to injuring myself but close isn’t doing it. I am injury free.
I have three branches to go, but I think the largest one will need a professional with a much bigger chain saw.
Jumped out of my skin when The Curmudgeon fell upstairs a little while ago. He shook the entire house. He’s fine, but my heart is still racing.
He even woke Lucy from a sound sleep. Gavin, however, did not hear a thing. He’s still snoring.
Didn’t take her long to fall back to sleep.

Love my Kindle and MP3 player
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Spent most of my afternoon seated in the car dealership waiting for my van’s inspection to be done.
So glad I had my Kindle and MP3 player with me. It helped to pass the time in a hurry. Almost wish they’d taken a bit longer.
Lucy and Gavin acted like I’d been gone a week when I got home. Got to love the pups!
The house smelled terrific since I’d started a beef roast in it before I left.
The Curmudgeon spent the time I was gone napping so he didn’t miss me a bit.
At least my van is inspected and I don’t have to worry about that for another year.

Tip toeing through my days…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I feel as though I need to walk on eggs around here. Don’t breathe too hard or get my hopes up.
Two days of him not on the floor seems too good to be true.
I have to get my car inspected today so he’d better be okay on his own for an hour or two. Taking my MP3 player and Kindle along and sitting in the waiting room while they do it. A bit of a break for me.
I might even grab a late lunch somewhere. Alone.

Not even the AC will help if he goes outside
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The upcoming week is looking like the heat and humidity will crank up again. This usually means he’ll be having more bad days.
It only takes him making one poor decision to go beyond the
AC.
I don’t even get to enjoy the outdoors lately.
Who can go outside and work in the yard when he falls at the drop of a hat?
I hate walking in and finding him crashed on the floor.
I can’t exactly tie him to his chair now can I?
Lucy tries though.
