Gavin, before meds and after meds.

He feels so much better now that all the swelling is gone from the bad tooth.  His Vet will pull the tooth on the 27th.  Both sides will match then since he had the same tooth removed on the other side a few years ago.

Pets do not make good gifts.

I don’t care what holiday you celebrate at this time of year.  All I want is that you think real hard about gifting anyone with a pet of any kind.

Puppies and kittens do not do well in stressful situations.  If you MUST get someone a pet, wait until after the holidays.  Give them a leash and collar with a note saying they will get the pet after the holidays.

Pets are a lifetime commitment.  They are not disposable.

You all have a good one!

A lifetime commitment!

Here’s another Bully looking for a home.

I don’t normally post these, but I know the woman who has Missy on the previous post, and this one happens to be at one of my favorite rescues.
This little tripod girl is such a sweetie!!!  Look at that happy face.
This happy girl has gotten no interest in the 7 months she has been available 😦  She’s at http://www.rockyridgerefuge.com

This lovely girl needs a ‘her only’ forever home.

Hello World, My name is Missy, you can call me Princess, SassyPants, Sassinator, luvbug or Missy. I love to run and play, snuggle on the couch or in bed and listen to your stories, or just watch a movie together. I am crate trained and house broken, I love to chew on antlers and I think Bully sticks are the bestest. I have good manners in the house and on the leash, but you have to earn my respect. I’m pretty young, probably 16-18 months old, so I still have a lot of shenanigans left in me. I have no guarding issues with my treats or my food. I do need to be the only pet as I’m a bit animal aggressive. I can get a bit obsessive about my ballie so best not to let me have it for long times. I am a total ham for the camera, and I can be quite the talker too. I am looking for a human to call my own…cud it be you???? Please contact Laura Jenkins at https://www.facebook.com/rcbtr and fill out an application…you know you love me, so what are you waiting for???? Or PM my mom, n she will give you more details…Hurry, I’m too cute won’t be sitting here for long.

My helpers

If we let you near the stove do we get some of that food?

Happy Birthday Gavin!!!

Eleven years ago he looked like this.

This is my sweet baby boy today.

Gavin and Patty tell their side.

**Gavin** We sure didn’t want to go outside yesterday, but Mommy made us.  She was mean.  She pushed us out the door into the pouring rain.  So what if she came out with us without a jacket or umbrella, We say it was raining, we didn’t want to be out in the wet grass.

Mean old Mommy made us wait until five minutes after five to get our dinner.  I scolded her real loud.  Patty stood by her dish.  Not fair, Patty went on a secret mission with Mommy and she won’t tell me about it.  I know they went in the new car ’cause Patty smelled like it when they came back.

**Patty**  Hehehe, I told Gavin that Mommy and I went on a secret mission day before yesterday and it’s driving him crazy.  (Mom and I went for a walk in the park with Auntie Annie)  Mommy and I couldn’t go for a walk yesterday, it rained a lot.  She says we can go sometime next week except for the day she has a doctor appointment.

Finally got a walk in

I wish I’d taken my camera along on our walk yesterday.  Miss Patty enjoyed herself so much!

When we first got to the park, I did walk over to a woman who had her little dog off lead, I ever so politely told her that she needed to put her dog on its leash because I was getting my dog out of the car.  My dog is larger, has a real problem with her dog’s breed since we have one next that she hates.

My dog is dog aggressive because she was attacked by a dog whose owner let her dog jump our fence and attack my dog. (I am sorry to say the dog was an apbt.)  The dog didn’t deserve such a completely irresponsible owner.

Anyway, the woman at the park was very nice and quickly moved off with her dog.  We met two more owners with leashed dogs, both of whom I warned about Patty’s dog aggression, and we gave them plenty of room.

The new collar proved to be very successful, I only had to give Patty one minor correction.

Miss Patty was worn out and passed out at seven p.m. the rest of night all we heard from her was snoring.

You all have a good one!

For the love of dogs for fifty years

I have been training dogs for over fifty years.  Does that surprise you?  It did me when I did the math.  Goodness, I feel old now.

The first dog I trained was when I was eight years old.  I not only had her heeling on a leash but had her and another neighbor’s dog doing tricks.  We were very nearly a circus act.

I taught obedience classes for a while.  Over the years, I trained a passel of Poodles in all sizes,  a German Shepherd, a Rottweiler, and several Bull Terriers.

You all have a good one!

Another dog post

It is with great trepidation that I watch Miss Patty sleep on the couch tonight.  Why?  Well, she’s been wetting her bed of late.  Thank goodness the new crate pads I bought are very absorbent.  We think that, like a small child, she’s sleeping so deeply she has accidents.

I’m only keeping her out of her crate so long so that I can take her outside later and then we’ll see if her crate stays dry tonight.

Gavin is snoring in his crate so he hasn’t noticed that she’s not in hers.  If he did he’d be screaming.

What a silly home we have.

You all have a good one.
