Is it something in the air?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Several friends have had their dogs melt down and go after each other in the last few weeks. Very frightening for them.
In our house it’s not that. It’s Gavin acting like a young pup. Hucklebutts, scolding me, teasing Lucy, and trying to jump up on The Curmudgeon’s chair.
He’s getting into things he hasn’t touched in many years, looking for mischief in general.
This is the dog, who since Lucy arrived, has had more than his usual attention and affection, trips outside whenever he pleases, and treats galore.
I can say with all honesty, there’s never a dull moment in this house.

In case you are wondering…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
My days of writing are few. It seems that moments of writing clarity are too often interrupted by household chaos and The Curmudgeon’s ill-health.
He has so few good days any more that it is difficult to sit and write when he’s in so much pain. I seem to have to jump up and do something for him or dogs every time I get seated for more than a minute.
I’m tired all the time and my brain fuzzes. I’m horrified to find my self dozing off with Lucy for an hour or so every night lately.

Oh my dog! Momma is crazy!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Momma had strange thing in her hand and I barked at it and I almost wagged my tail off. Then she gave me a soft pinch with it and I did a wild hucklebutt all over the living room and kitchen.
Afterwards I needed a nap.
When Momma got a good look at this picture she told Daddy I need a bath because my belly is so dirty from all the combat crawling I do in the muddy yard.
I don’t want a bath!
I like being dirty.

Whoo hoo! SUN!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Wow, it is amazing how bright the sun is after so many dreary days of no sun. Yesterday became a spectacular day as the clouds burned off and the sun made an appearance.
So far it looks as though we are in for a possible five-day run of partly cloudy days. Hurrah!
Lucy spent the entire day doing one hucklebutt after another celebrating the sunshine I think.
Gavin enjoyed moseying about the yard sniffing out squirrel trails.
Here’s to sunshine, long may she reign.

Browsing properties in the southern states
Posted by doggonedmysteries
As more snow fell yesterday, I took to browsing southern beach properties for sale. Sigh.
Yeah, I would have to hit the lottery for sure.
I did find a few that had my mouth-watering though. Damned shame they are so far out of my price range. As much as I adore Pennsylvania in the spring, summer, and fall, I am sick of winters here.
You all have a good one and think warm thoughts.

Icky weather heading our way
Posted by doggonedmysteries
According to the weather forecast app on my Firefox tool bar, we are facing two days of snow and temperatures in the mid 30s. No sign of sun coming our way until Friday and Saturday.
I miss the sun.
The dogs miss the sun. They don’t want to wear winter hats and coats all the time.
I need to hit the lottery so the dogs and I can move to Florida or Georgia. I do love a beach. We’ll bring The Curmudgeon along if he wants to leave PA but that probably would take some crow bar action.
His roots go deep and I’m thinking that just to move him out of this damned house would take dynamite.

Baby, it’s cold outside!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
A Nor’easter is on its way and we can already feel the change in the air.
Bitter cold wind whips through and stings our faces. So glad the pups’ hats arrived!
Thank you to their Auntie Diana. She was able to find them at her Target. Our Targets were all wiped out of them.
So worth it too. Aren’t they cute?!

By any other name they’d still stink

Happily, we had sun today. Not only were the dogs overjoyed but so were we. It’s been grey and rainy for too long.
My day consisted of taking the dogs out, bringing the dogs in, taking the dogs out, bringing the dogs in, repeat.
The last trip for the night was uneventful, thank goodness. We’ve had two neighbors complain that their dogs met up with the black and white, evil and smelly kitties of doom.
Yes, we have skunks in the middle of town. G has seen two different ones in her yard.
Thus we tip toe out and in after dark.
You all have a good one.

The dogs speak out about the weather
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I didn’t want to go outside today.
It was raining.
I got muddy when I tried to combat crawl.
I think someone should buy me a raincoat.
(Pssst DaaaaaaD!)
Momma says I need a bath.
I am big and tough and I don’t mind the rain except when it is coming down hard. Then I wuss out.

The pups mani-pedi spa day
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Both dogs had pedicures yesterday. Neither one is happy with me. It is so much easier to trim Lucy’s nails than it is Gavin’s.
Gavin has gnarly, crooked and thick, hard to keep up with nails and hard warts on his pads. He’s also not the most cooperative dog when it comes to a nail trim.
This time I recruited The Curmudgeon and had him sit on the couch with Gavin keeping his attention and helping to hold him still while I used the Dremel Tool on the nails and pad warts.
It took me almost twenty minutes to get Gavin done. Never a dull moment around here either. He was okay but afterwards the old boy showed us some of the old hellion he once was insisting he deserved more than one cookie. Hucklebutts, bows, and silliness went on for a little while.
Lucy with her normal nails took me all of five minutes.

Oh, Crap. Snow.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
If you had seen the dogs go out in the yard last night with the bit of wet snow on the ground, believe me you would have giggled as much as I did.
Gavin trotted out and looked almost delighted with the rain and snow mix. I expected that.
Lucy, however, I had no idea what to expect from her. She hates rain…but she sort of liked the snow…but she hates rain. Yeah, that’s about what she was like.
You all have a good one. I’m hoping this dusting or should I say, because it is so wet, frosting, is all we get with this storm.
