Best friends

My best friend scared me the other day.

I was outside lending an air pump to a neighbor when her eldest son hailed me.

As I walked over to him, he told me she was in the hospital!

I screeched “What?!”

He explained what happened. Tachycardia. Well, she’s had that before.

The next thing he said cracked me up.

He told me, “She said, darn, I didn’t beat my record.”

Her record is 222 beats a minute. This time she only hit 200.

I talked to her on the phone, she said she call me when I could come get her–they were planning to release her the same day.

However, I got antsy. I called her back and told her I was coming out and would sit with her until they sent her home.

And I did.

Thank you Chuck!

I have to thank Chuck for coming over and getting the furnace at the MIL’s house to run properly.   The man is one hell of a great friend!  I was afraid we were going to have to call someone in and pay through the nose to have it done.

In spite of disabling pain from breaking his back–not once but twice, Chuck came down, found the problem, and corrected it.  Thereby saving us a bundle.  (Take a bow Chuck, you earned it!)

A gift in the mail brightens the day

I received a most delightful treat in the mail today.  There was a small package wedged in mail box.  It bore a Royal mail UK stamp.  My dear friends in Cardiff, GrannyAnne and her daughter Jennie, had decided I needed a bit of cheering up.  I have to say it worked well ladies and thank you very much.

I do love the Fred Basset book even though he’s not a BT.  The British idioms are different enough from the American to make it a true delight.  The huge bar of chocolate will add a few pounds but oh, what a grand way to add them.  I’ll think of you two when I’m walking those extra laps around the park to get rid of them.  😉

A few days ago, I also received a gift in the mail from Elena.  Thank you, Elena.  It was a CD of piano works from a remarkable young man.  He donates the money from their sale to the National MS society, Race for the Cure, Baltimore Reads, The Maryland Food Bank, The Matthew Foster Foundation, and Tsunami Relief.  You can find him at www.PianoSquall.com.

Old friends finally meet

Years ago, I met Jackie online.  We’ve instant messaged and talked in chat rooms for ages and ages.  We even talked on the phone once or twice.  Today, we finally met in person.  We had a great time visiting over many cups of coffee.

Gavin and Patty were ecstatic over meeting someone who knew all the right places to scratch them and didn’t mind a few puppy kisses.  Although there were a couple of times that I had to send the pups to their crates to calm down because each wanted the pets the other was getting from Jackie they were well behaved for the most part.

I’m not sure if we were what Jackie expected but then I have no idea what she expected.  😉
