Our veggie garden all in pots
Posted by doggonedmysteries
If you notice, there are metal screens on top of the soil. We have a horrific overpopulation of hungry squirrels and they were digging holes in the soil.
My recycled aquarium stand potting table works well for me.

Gardening day.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We had a lovely day yesterday. Mid 80s fabulous breezes. Perfect for me to get some work done in the yard.
I didn’t get a great deal done but enough to make me happier.
I ran the weed eater in the pond area. Gee, maybe one day I can stop saying that when we finally get it level.
Then I cleaned out some of the weeds and suckers under the sweet gum tree and trimmed a few low hanging branches off the magnolia. I still have plenty more to do.
Looks like today will be the same routine and maybe I’ll actually get some of the mulch down.
You all have a good one!
I now have two of these wind chimes. I love them!

How does your garden grow?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
My potted garden is growing well. I have peppers coming on my pepper plants, tomatoes on the tomato plants, and blossoms all over my little cucumber plant. The eggplant hasn’t any blossoms yet but I don’t expect them for a while.
Now if only we can keep the squirrels away from them, we might get to have some fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and eggplants.
Anyone have any fool proof squirrel chasing tactics?
Crash my yard please.

I’m hoping that, after I run a couple of errands today, I can do some actual yard work. I need to weed the gardens and get the mulch in before there is nothing there but weeds.
I’d like to transplant a few more things from the pond area so maybe I can get someone in to rototill that area flat. I’d love to get started on revamping the yard so we can get some use out of it.
Oh, if only yard crashers would show up at my door and work a miracle! 😉 My yard is in dire need.
It would be nice to get it to where The Curmudgeon could come outside and enjoy it. Or, perhaps to where I can find some sanctuary from him when he is driving me crazy.

Finding my center
Posted by doggonedmysteries
What grounds and centers you? For me it’s working in my gardens.
I found some time to do that yesterday. It felt good.
In the back of the yard, I’ve cleared the dead stuff out of the zebra grass, and weeded the lemon balm bed. Later I began weeding the far end of the side garden. Tomorrow I’ll continue there and do some mulching so my hard work doesn’t come undone immediately upon the first heavy rain.
I finished tired, sweaty, and probably a bit more sore than I’d like, but that’s okay because I feel more like me.

Projects…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
My roll of 99 feet of crystals arrived but Amazon says it’ll be mid July before the watering can gets here so that artful garden project is on hold for a bit. http://craftsbyamanda.com/2013/09/watering-can-pours-crystals.html
The watering can I have on order:
Now what to do with 99 feet of crystals if the watering can never does get here.
Any ideas?

And then there was sun and warmth…

The dogs and I couldn’t be out enough yesterday. Today is supposed to be even nicer.
The tree will soon look like this if yesterday is any indication. Soon after that we’ll have full bloom going. Today I am spending most of my day outside.

Even a couple of hours away is a good thing
Posted by doggonedmysteries
A few hours away from the house is like a mini vacation for me. I already feel calmer than I have in the last few days. They were a bitch and so was I.
G and I went to the local flower show. We had a great time even though this year’s was the smallest it’s ever been. I talked to several ‘hardscapers.’ I have dreams of redoing the yard into a more functional (for The Curmudgeon) patios and pathways, raised garden beds, more private, and dog friendly yard.
I found a garden piece at the same stand I bought one from two years ago. Love it! Is it two or more than two that make a collection? I might be starting one. 😉

Shed emptied…almost.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Now that the riding mower and many other pieces of gas-powered lawn equipment have gone to a new home, I have room enough in the shed to store The Curmudgeon’s cart for the winter and all my yard stuff.
I still have broken tools and other items I need to toss out to finish cleaning out the shed and getting it organized. I look forward to the spring when I can go into the shed and actually find the tool that I’m looking for.
Snow and rain all day. So glad it didn’t stop A from taking all the equipment.
You all have a good one!

You know it’s Fall when….
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I took down my hammock. At times, I wish I lived where it could stay up all the time. Better yet, I should hit the lottery so I can have a summer home and a winter home.
This is when I usually cuss my head off about not having enough money to buy new front and back doors and a storm door for the back, again. What I really need, in addition to the money, is someone who can go get them and install them for me.
Another sign is that I am working on my large prop for trick or treat night. I think I need to buy more chicken wire.
I cleaned out part of the shed. Anyone need a large gas-powered weed eater? It is way too heavy for me and I could use a few extra bucks to put towards new doors. Heck, I have a lot of yard and garden power tools that he bought and they are too much for me to work with.
I did find the little electric chain saw that I will make use of trimming some larger, too low-hanging, branches off the magnolia tree.

Whoohoo!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We had an absolutely scrumptious day yesterday! 72 degrees for the high and dropping down to 60 degrees over night. Couldn’t ask for nicer weather.
If only The Curmudgeon’s spine fractures weren’t so damned painful for him, I’m sure he’d be a lot happier. I miss the happy part of him.
Lucy was hell on wheels all day living up to her nickname of Lucifurry. Gavin had a ton of energy. However, once I sent them both to bed, all I’ve heard from the crates are snores.
I do wish I hadn’t spent the day doing indoor projects that needed doing because I could have done a lot outside. The fact that it looked as though it would rain any minute all day was all that kept me indoors.
Today looks about the same temperature wise. Time to drag out the recycling barrels and my clippers.
You all have a good one!

Another day…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Whew! AC is back on. Too hot and humid for The Curmudgeon. Looking at the next several days of forecasts it seems we’ll be keeping it on for a while too.
For as bad as his back is The Curmudgeon was in better spirits yesterday. I’m hoping a visit from one of his PD dispatchers will brighten his day today. She’s stopping by for some plants.
That reminds me, I’d better set my alarm. 😉
