Yesterday’s garden finds

The iris and columbine are beginning to bloom

Yes, the garden needs a good weeding.  No, I haven’t had the energy to do it.

These iris are along the driveway.

This lovely blue one is in the side garden by the sweet gum tree.

The first of the columbine plants to bloom.  I may have lost one this winter…

Yard work…

The Curmudgeon wearing his ice filled vest to keep him cool while he mows.  It helps a lot!

Low and slow, a good thing

I’ve been flying low and slow for the past few days.  It has helped my back feel better.  Maybe there’s a reason we’re having a week of rain.

Unbelievable how everything has greened up around here.  The gardens will need more than a bit of weeding next weekend, which is when they say we’ll have some sun again.  I really need to buy some mulch.

Gavin and Patty aren’t thrilled about the wet weather.  At least that means they are out and back in fast.

You all have a good one!

My garden makes me happy

I need to go out into my garden.

Relax.

I need to release all the tensions of the day.

Chill.

I need to enjoy the colors, textures, and sounds.

You all have a good one!

2 days of garden pictures, can you tell?

Flowers!

I knew I had to get outside with the camera today before the crocus croaked.  These are the first ones that have opened.  If you look closely at the daffodils beside them, you’ll see buds!  Won’t be long and they will be blooming too.

Yay, flowers are starting!

My garden is pushing it…

I know we’ve had some terrific weather this winter, but my spring flowers are pushing it now.  I have daffodils and crocus springing up–hey guys, it’s not spring yet, slow down before the weather kicks your asses.

The weather reports are saying we’re to get snow again on Sunday.  We had rain all day today and you know what that means.

Yes, I have mud.  I have mud in the yard.  I have mud on the back porch.  I have mud in the kitchen.  I had to wash the cover from the love seat because…Yep, you guessed right, I had mud on it along with elk antler gooey from Patty spending the day chewing there.

There’s muddy paw prints and Curmudgeon shoe prints on the kitchen floor I’ll wait a couple of days for the yard to dry a bit before I mop.

Ah, the elk antlers…Another story there.  Yesterday morning the Fed Ex truck driver rang the doorbell and left a box of them between the doors.  Gavin and Patty had never had them before so they didn’t really know what was in that box that The Curmudgeon left on my chair.

That soon changed after I came downstairs.  They each got an antler.  For the rest of the day we heard not a peep from them.  They were happy, they were amused, they were chewing for hours!  Finally Gavin got tired and insisted it was nap time.  As soon as they woke from their naps, they were right back to the antlers.  I think they like them.  I’m glad I bought two each.

They removed Elena’s tube early yesterday and she’s breathing on her own.  Let’s keep cheering her on.

You all have a good one.

About those cannas I am giving away…

Notice how tall the Cannas are?  The fence is a six footer.

Free Cannas!

Who wants Cannas?  It’s time to dig them out and I have far too many for my gardens.  These are red cannas and are quite tall–most of mine grew to over six feet in height.

I am giving them away to whomever of my friends wants to come and dig them out.  Be prepared, they have large roots, bring a strong shovel and plenty of containers to hold them.

Then all you need to do is store them until spring and when the danger of frost is over, plant them.

Things are ripening in the garden
