How good is the warranty?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Well, this will be the third or fourth time Raymour and Flanigan has come to fix or replace The Curmudgeon’s lounge chair.
They replaced it once and fixed it at least twice.
He’s hard on his chair because that’s where he is all day, every day, he is in his chair.
This time part of the mechanism for the foot rest sheared off and dropped to the floor, leaving him stranded with his feet up.
Sort of reminded me of a turtle on its back.
Finally got the foot rest down and hauled the ottoman over to his chair. Told him, “use this until they fix the chair.”
Today’s Tee shirt–the black one.

Nothing like a night time ER run
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So, Lucy and I were cuddling on the couch (read that as ‘we were dozing’) when a sudden *CRASH* from upstairs rattled the house.
With heart racing I dashed up the steps hollering, “are you okay? WTF happened?”
Found The Curmudgeon down, wedged between his bed and his walker.
Then I saw the blood.
You know how facial and scalp cuts bleed like crazy?
Yep.
I ran for paper towels slapped them on the side of his face told him, “you know what to do…put pressure on it. You’re going to need stitches.” and ran to call our doctor’s ER to see how late they were open.
Then I got G over to help me get him into the car and to go along with us.
I was right.
Three stitches.

Quiet days around here are good days
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The pups were enjoying a lazy day while The Curmudgeon sat engrossed in his TV programs.
I managed to get a few things done and the mowers have the yard mowed, including the filled in pond area. (Usually I try to have that area weed whacked because of stones and cement blocks still there from the pond.) I hadn’t gotten around to doing it and the weeds stood quite tall. It looks nice now.
I still have to get out there and pull the overgrown vines and bind weed off the miniature lilac and the shed.
Weather permitting I will get it done.

Squirrel 3 relocated
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So, we don’t set the trap if the weather is hot or at night.
Night time trap setting will only net us an opossum or a skunk.
We want the opossums around, they eat ticks. They don’t destroy my tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants.
After the relocation, the trap remained closed but baited. We had three more squirrels lined up to take the bus.
There’s always tomorrow.

I love our Vet
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So, first thing I did yesterday morning?
I called our Vet.
Gavin had such a miserable night all I could do was hope she didn’t insist he come in. He didn’t need the stress.
Our fabulous and very understanding vet had me come in and pick up a probiotic for him.
He’s also on a hamburger and rice bland diet. He’s thrilled. He loves hamburger and rice.
So far today? He’s not had the squirts and is sleeping soundly. I hope it continues long enough for me to get some sleep too.
Today’s Tee shirt.

Don’t let them kid you…It never gets easier
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Gavin the old dog has had two bad nights. I’m hoping he does better tonight.
The Curmudgeon had a very bad day, then yesterday was better, I’m hoping today is also good.
I look around at all the dirt and grime and wish I had the energy to clean this damned house or a crew to get it done for me so all I have to do is keep it up afterwards.
It’s all gotten too far ahead of me.
The more I see it, the more depressed I get.
The more depressed I get, the less energy I have to do it.
Most days these days, I just say fuck it.

A moment of silence to remember…

Some days you just feel like hiding…or look out your introvert is showing
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Does everyone have days where they’d rather be completely alone all day or better yet, for a few days?
Or is that just me?
I crave it like some crave sweets.
I can’t help it, the constant demands on me have turned me into quite the antisocial person.
But, then again, I do enjoy going out and having fun with my friends.
I guess I am an extroverted introvert or is that an introverted extrovert?

Old dogs break our hearts
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Watching Gavin grow old is hard.
Poor dog still bounces around on his good days.
But he sure does wobble and stumble on his bad ones.
Clearly today was a bad one.

Fightin’ words!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Gentlemen,
Never tell your wife, “Wow, you sure are getting grey.” if you are the cause of every grey hair on her head.
You might not survive.
Sometimes he forgets that I write murder mysteries. Not smart.

So I spent the night watching a marathon…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
A TV marathon of Dead Like Me. I can’t resist a show with Mandy Patinkin in it and that show is good fun.
I found it on Comet Network… I have no idea from where Comet Network arrived on our roster of network favorites, but there it sits.
Hope you all find a treat of some sort to make your day. I know this made mine.
