I find it amazing….
Posted by doggonedmysteries
That I can accomplish absolutely nothing on a daily basis.
Yet, I don’t sit more than a few minutes at a time.
I am constantly on the move.
I only get about 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night.
Exhaustion is my constant companion.
Today, the laundry basket made it to the top of the basement steps…never did get it down to the washer.
Nope, because as I headed for the basement door, Gavin decided he needed to go out. When I brought him in, Lucy had to go.
Then, The Curmudgeon needed this and wanted that, and by the time I thought about taking the laundry down to the basement to wash it, it was time to get started on dinner.
Most days are another version of this.
Sigh… A beach, some peace and quiet, all alone even if only for a few days…

This and that and all the rest
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Weather is improving.
Cooler temperatures are creeping in and soon we can turn off the AC at night.
Wish we could open the house in the daytime but we have one of those neighbors who thinks everyone wants to hear his bass booming, window rattling loud music all the time. I like rock and roll, I am not, in the least, fond of his style of music.
Poor Lucy got into some mischief and ate a strap off a small flashlight.
Rather than wait and see if it passed and risking the possibility of her having some real trouble with it later, we gave her some peroxide to get her to throw it up.
She was not happy about it for two reasons.
- She’d just had her dinner and it meant no food until breakfast then.
- Like old Malcolm–she does NOT like to vomit. She clamps her jaws shut to try to stop it and will fight it for as long as she can almost passing out in the process (just like Malcolm).
Unhappily for her, we had success. Happily for us, the strap came up and we won’t have to worry about an emergency vet trip later.
Dogs….we love them fiercely.

Finally, a break in the weather!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We’re supposed to drop to 71 degrees by 5 a.m. a definite improvement over the last eight days of terrible heat. The high for the day should reach 86 degrees and only feel like 89 degrees with lower humidity.
This is a good thing.
This means I can get some outdoor work done. With the heat and rain, the yard and gardens became sorely neglected. I now have tons of vines and tall weeds to get rid of over the next week.
I’m tired just thinking about it.

Addicted to HGTV
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Yes, I watch all the home improvement shows, the property buyers shows, and the yard and garden shows.
The Curmudgeon hates them.
I watch them when he’s in bed.
I also watch the Food Network shows.
Those shows The Curmudgeon will watch if I have it on when he comes down.
What do you watch?

Another day under the heat dome

We’re having a heat wave…

*Flops into chair.*
I wonder why that song keeps running through my head, no, not really. It is so steamy hot outside, I’d swear I was in the swamp lands of Florida or Louisiana.
The real feel temperature today was 105 degrees add to that 85% humidity and you have a recipe for disaster.
The Curmudgeon is, at this time, forbidden to go outside even with his ice vest on.
The dogs don’t want to be outside any longer than necessary.
I feel like I can’t breathe out there.
I’d be happier next to water.
Oh, never download the Zen Koi game on your phone if you don’t want a total time suck in your life.
Yeah, I did.

Sauna weather again
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I feel bad for The Curmudgeon. This hot weather means there is no going anywhere at all for him. He’s stuck inside. Even with his ice vest on, the short walk to the car is too much for him. (I hope the weather cools down for his up-coming doctor’s appointment.)
The dogs cracked me up, they didn’t want to leave the AC today. Both were very quick doing their business each time.

Whoa…it is hot and muggy
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We had a few days of this crap.
I actually wouldn’t mind so much IF I lived in Florida, Alabama, or any other Southern state. It’s supposed to be this hot and muggy there.
This is not the South.
This is Pennsylvania. A real feel temperature of 100 dripping muggy degrees sucks here.
Yeah, it’s making the bad weeds grow fast and is killing my grass.
I’d rather move South and expect the heat and humidity. At least if I moved there, I would be near a beach. Muggy isn’t so bad at the beach.

I hate having the volume up loud on the TV
Posted by doggonedmysteries
However, it’s that or listen to the constant boom, boom, rattle of my nasty neighbor’s music.
The Curmudgeon calls the police, they do nothing. The worst thing is hearing The Curmudgeon whine about it all the time.
Not only do I have the stress of unwanted noise but I have to listen to him too.
I can’t concentrate on anything. I’m tired of being stressed out and unhappy all the time.

Mutual respect is the only way to go
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Okay, you’re a vegan.
I respect that and I don’t make snide comments about it.
You’re a vegetarian.
I respect that too and I don’t make snide remarks.
I am neither. I eat meat.
So why is it okay for you to make snide remarks?
Shame. *Rings bell* Shame.

To the people who feed the squirrels…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Please don’t.
Yeah, I know you think they are so cute and all but…
You don’t live here, you just come here and feed them.
It’s not your tomatoes or your eggplants they ruin.
They don’t chew through your garbage can lids and scatter your garbage everywhere.
They don’t drop garbage they scavenge (chicken and pork bones) in your yard for your dogs to get hold of, nope, but we have to watch our dogs every second because you feed the squirrels.
Yes, it is your fault.
You see because you feed them all winter and summer they breed like crazy and neither they nor their young move on to greener pastures. No, they hang around here and cause mass destruction.
They’ve chewed all the wiring on our outdoor lights and the neighbors’ lighting. After about the fourth ruined set of lights here, I quit buying more.
We no longer sit outside because they’ve ruined our yard furniture. And because of all the holes they dug in the yard, The Curmudgeon doesn’t get to enjoy his mobility cart much.
So the next time you plan to feed the squirrels…please make other plans and leave them be, they don’t need your help.

Day two with new phone
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Yeah, mostly it’s been shut off. LOL!
To say that I am not a phone person, is saying it mildly.
I made sure I had it fully charged.
Had the alarm set for 10 a.m. to try it out. (Unfortunately I was up long before it went off, compliments of Lucy.) It did surprise The Curmudgeon when it went off and I was outside with Gavin. Hehehe. He had no idea how to turn it off and being a smart man did not touch the phone.
Yeah, he knew better than to touch my phone after the great computer screw up.
