Yikes! I hate wind.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
With the expectation of high winds of 60 mph I might not be posting tomorrow. It all depends on if we have damage here or not.
There is also the possibility of trees coming down with the ground so danged wet. We’ve had the weirdest weather the last couple of years.
You all have a good one and stay safe.

Another day gone…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Piles of laundry, sweet-smelling, fresh, clean, folded and put away. I may not have accomplished much yesterday, but I did do that.
I wanted to work on my fairy tale and two of my books but there’s no such thing as concentration around here these days.
The Curmudgeon was on one of his ‘let’s see how far I can push her to the edge’ days. The pups wanted out every five minutes. If I sat down at my computer, the phone rang, almost as if it were connected to my desk chair.
Two days of warm temperatures ahead, I’ll add water to the pond.

How to confuse a Curmudgeon and two dogs
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The easiest way is to threaten to rearrange the furniture. I keep telling him that some morning when he comes downstairs his chair will be on the other side of the room and the couch will be where his chair is now.
He doesn’t believe me. It will be fun to get it done. All I need is time, muscle, and some real boredom.
I haven’t been happy with the furniture placement since we got the new furniture.
The dogs will not adjust at first. You should have seen their reactions when we moved their crates once. I do think they’ll adjust faster than The Curmudgeon.

If I put it here, it won’t get lost….
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I am one of those people. I put things away in a safe place where I’d be sure to find them, and can never find them again.
It’s as if there’s a black hole for things like that. I put a paper away a week or so ago, thinking I will remember where I put this. Nope. It didn’t happen. Again. I have torn the house apart many times over for many days and still haven’t found that one piece of paper and it is driving me crazy.
Yeah, I know…it’s a very short drive.
Does anyone else do this?

Isn’t Spring yet?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The cold has come upon us with a vengeance. We’ve dropped into the negative degrees over the weekend. We are not pleased say the dogs. I agree.
Funny, as much as the pups hate the cold, they hate sweaters, jackets, or anything else we might put on them to keep them warm. My two dogs aren’t the brightest bulbs on the chandelier.
I am already looking forward to spring. Flowers blooming, warm gentle breezes, naps in my hammock.

Diet sabotage…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
My friend G brought over a container of Christmas cookies the other day. I have managed to pick out all my favorites and am trying to convince The Curmudgeon to please eat all the rest so they no longer tempt me.
Thank goodness she knows what ones I like the best and kept them to a minimum. At least she warned me that she was bringing some cookies. She gets that I am trying hard to lose weight.
The Curmudgeon never warns me, he always manages to sabotage my diet by bringing home irresistible chocolate candies. I don’t think he gets it.
My will power is almost non-existent since I quit smoking over a year ago. Sweet things especially are impossible for me to resist. That’s why I don’t buy any when I go grocery shopping.
I keep hoping I’ll find my self-control again. Have you seen it?
You all have a good one.

Is my coffee ready?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Some days you wonder why you bothered to get out of bed and other days you know why…for the coffee.
The Curmudgeon is well-trained after all these years, and there’s always a full pot of coffee waiting for me when I get up. Smart man. I am very crabby without coffee.
I can tell he’s having a good day by if he pours a cup for me or not when he knows I’m up. If there’s a cup on the counter top all fixed and waiting for me, he’s having a good day. If there isn’t, he’s having a bad day.
Not that I mind fixing my own coffee but I do have to admit I find it very sweet when he has a cup ready for me. Got to love the man!

Holy Cow!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
When I began this blog as a lark, as a necessary evil part of being a writer, I never expected to keep it going this long and I certainly never expected to ever hit 90,000 hits on my humble little blog.
However, I did it. I’ve kept this blog going and I went over the 90,000 hit mark today. I am flabbergasted, gob smacked, elated, and just plain happy and excited.
Thank you. Without you stopping in and reading my nattering this would never have happened.
You all have a good one!
Warm December again.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Indian summer in December? I can live with it. It hit 64 here yesterday and I was out in a t-shirt with no jacket. Our back porch was colder than the outdoors. LOL!
Today the forecast is for similar temperatures. How lovely! Especially since the long-range forecast is calling for snow at by the twenty-fifth.
If I remember correctly, we were fairly warm here last December too. Some people have the audacity to say there’s no global warming. Yea, right.
You all have a good one! I intend to.

Are you shopping on black Friday?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Some poor fool actually asked me that question. When I finally stopped laughing, picked myself up from the floor, and was able to choke out the answer, which went something along the line of, are you effing kidding? I hated it when I had to work it in retail and I hate it even more now. They had the nerve to look surprised.
Oh, yeah, they LIKE IT. :O They actually PLAN for it EVERY year. Oh My effing Goddess!!!
I won’t go anywhere near a store from Thanksgiving to after New Years if I can help it. I even cringe at the thought of having to go to a grocery store during that time.
I swear Black Friday is when they release all the mental patients, give them credit cards, cars, and maps to all the malls.
I DO NOT GO SHOPPING on Black Friday. I stay home where I only have to put up with one crazy man and two crazy dogs.
You all have a good one. Happy Thanksgiving.
