Extra coffee…bonus!!!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It’s amazing what one can find lurking in the back of the kitchen cabinets. Every so often I’ll grab a flashlight, sit on the floor, and pull things out of my lower cabinets. I am often surprised. Last night I decided to do a cupboard purge. On the top shelf, I found a whole can of coffee, a can stuffed full of bags of assorted gourmet coffees, and a box of sweetener all of which had managed to travel to the back of the cupboard. All of which, I had completely forgotten about.
I found an unopened bag of coconut, powdered sugar, and a box of black tea bags in the back on the shelf below. I need to hit the other pantry shelves later today. I wonder what I’ll find there?
Why am I doing this purge? I found a can of tomato sauce in the one cupboard that had a use by date on it of 2009 the other night. Highly unusual in this house. I tend to rotate foodstuffs often but somehow missed that can.
After cleaning out the hoarded mess that was the MIL’s house for over a year, I swore my house will never come anywhere close to that. Yet, there it was, staring me in the face, a can of tomato sauce years past its expiration date. Yikes!
You all have a good one and check those dates!

Wednesday

Yesterday my day began to the rat tat tat tat of a jack hammer under my window a full three hours before my alarm went off. I got up, closed my window, crawled back into bed, and pulled a pillow over my head. It didn’t feel like a long time when my alarm began to blare music.
I climbed out of bed, dragged my butt to the shower, and then got dressed. I e-mailed Annie to tell her the street might be blocked. She never got the e-mail and called instead, I forgot to tell her about the blocked street. Oops. Brain fart!
Annie, G, and I went to Target to get a little shopping done. Upon returning to my house we each tried a glass of the Chocovine http://www.worldmarket.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4058357 That was in one of my baskets. It is to die for!!!!

When to be tactful
Posted by doggonedmysteries
“Tact is the art of making a point without making an enemy.” — Isaac Newton
Southern Belles will pat you on the head and say, “Bless your heart.” What they mean is, “Holy crap you REALLY are a moron aren’t you?” They smile and nod and let it pass…much like a silent fart in an elevator.
Yankee gals will tell you what a moron you are. Make no mistake, we know all about being tactful, we just prefer not to use it. Why waste the energy? If you are an idiot and you haven’t learned by now, then it’s time we told you.
If by chance you are a nice moron and have no inkling that you are one, we Yankee gals might cut you a break and go easy on you. …..Giggle. Snort, okay I was fooling with you there.
I pity you if you catch a Yankee gal on a playful day for then she could tell you to go to hell with such diplomacy that you’d be looking forward to the trip. Now that’s tact!
You all have a good one!
Still not up to par

Two doctor appointments in two days is no fun but three days is worse. I’m back to the cardiologist’s office today for both an echo cardiogram and a nuclear stress test.
Only had about two hours of sleep last night not sure how much I’ll get tonight.
Gavin and Patty played alarm clock long before my alarm went off yesterday. Therefore they weren’t invited into my room to bed bounce.

38 years lost and now found.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
For the 38 years since our wedding we had none of our wedding pictures. They’d disappeared, were lost, they were gone forever only a few weeks after the wedding. For years we searched and my relatives searched to no avail. What few wedding pictures we’ve had all these years were gathered from snap shots taken by friends and relatives.
By serendipity some wedding slides surfaced yesterday. Not all of them, but some great ones from the wedding and reception that we thought we’d never see again. I have pictures of my Father, Mother, Gramma (Mom’s mom), and Grandpa (Dad’s dad)!!!
We intend to have the slides put on a disk. I told The Curmudgeon they go over to the photo place no later than Wednesday of next week!
We are now only missing a few pictures that my brother-in-law took of us at the Rose Gardens.
Baby steps
Posted by doggonedmysteries
No we haven’t added any kids to the house. I mean taking baby steps to get things back to a semblance of normal around here. If you could ever call our household normal.
I decided to give away a bunch of glassware this weekend. I feel the need to pare down the clutter. I figure that once I get the clutter down, it won’t take as much effort to clean the house. I pray that this is not wishful thinking.
I think we might even have a yard sale this summer so I can clean out the attic and basement. Why hold on to so much we know we’ll never drag out of there to use ever again?
However, before I do a yard sale I need to toss out the useless junk that has also accumulated in those areas. I don’t think my garbage men are going to be very happy with me over the months to come.

Unbelievable weather and more energy, can’t be beat!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I can’t believe how incredible the weather has been the last several days. Never have we had such a warm March. I’m loving it.
Along with the weather came the chance for more exercise–going for walks and I have taken full advantage of it. What I find remarkable is I am starting to have more energy again. (It’s about friggin’ time!)
Yesterday, and the day before, after my walks, I got out a bucket of scrub water, climbed up and down a ladder several times and the ceiling fans in my living room are now sparkling clean. I am amazed at how filthy they were. That’s what I call having more energy.
I might even tackle the fan in the bedroom next. Then there are all those floors that are in need of a good scrub…

Yippee! New faucet!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Old chrome faucet, leaky and full of hard water stains.
Lasted about 15 years.
Took longer to remove this than to put in the new one below.
New faucet, stainless steel and no leaks!
Maybe this one will last 20 years?
Thanks to Barry for removing the old one and installing this in an hour.

Leaf blower/mulcher works like a dream!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
With a yard full of leaves and not being exactly eager to rake them, I ordered a leaf blower/mulcher from Amazon a couple of days ago. It arrived yesterday. The Curmudgeon has one in the shed, but it is gas powered and weighs a ton–I cannot use it. I am now the proud owner of a Greenworks electric blower/mulcher with metal impeller.
I spent the afternoon outside moving leaves to the street where the city will pick them up. A few times I had a cross breeze that brought to mind the saying about ‘herding cats.’ I had to quit when it got too dark to see. Half of the yard is finished.
When I went inside, I had two dogs that were crossing their legs, doing the pee pee dance, and they were HUNGRY. The Curmudgeon was hungry too. Oops, my bad.
Another sunny day today means I’ll try to finish the yard…

3rd anniversary of this blog
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Tomorrow will mark the third year since I created this blog. I can’t believe it’s been that long. I can’t believe that I am still finding things to write about.
This past year has been a real strange one. DH’s mother died, I’ve finally emptied her house, and I had a heart attack. Can’t get any stranger than that.
I find that I am looking forward to another year of writing this blog. I’m hoping I can tackle my muse, hog tie her, and get her helping me again with my books. I’d dearly love to get all of them finished…sooner rather than later.
I also wouldn’t turn down any help over at the MIL’s house getting it ready to put on the market. We REALLY need to get it sold and soon!
