I’ve been socked again
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I know I’ve mentioned Sock Dreams before but I had to give them another plug after I got my new socks yesterday. I ordered them Friday night.
These socks are fast becoming an addiction for me. DH seems to enjoy it too. I often crack him up with my choice for the day. Yesterday I wore some that look like pencils. He cracked up when I showed him my feet. It’s fun to make him laugh.
One day in the near future I’ll take a picture of my sock collection. My order added four more pairs.

DH doesn’t do animatronic repairs
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Where’s a animatronic repair person when you need one? I’d forgotten that my barrel zombie wasn’t working. Now I have to figure out if I can get it working in time for my trick or treaters this year.
Maybe I’ll dress DH up and put HIM in the barrel.
Or perhaps someone wants to volunteer for the job?
I need to clear the plants out of my planters on the porch before the end of next month so we can stand there to hand out candy–the plants have taken over the porch.

Too much rain
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The back sidewalk is covered with mud and is so slippery that I feel as though I need cleats on my shoes to walk there.
Patty doesn’t want to go out unless her back teeth are running boat races. She thinks she’ll melt in the rain. Maybe she needs water wings.
Gavin doesn’t mind the rain too much, although twice today it came down hard enough that even he refused to go outside.
I’m thinking of putting pontoons on my van. Should I go with white to match it or some sort of accent color?
I’m putting a flat bottom boat or a canoe on my Amazon wish list.

Gremlins in the house
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We have a problem with gremlins in this house. Things disappear, reappear, and disappear again. Now I am missing a large tablet, several favorite pens, and a big package of double ‘A’ batteries. Therefore, I’m guessing our gremlins needed paper, pens and batteries.
Are our gremlins writers? Did they need batteries for their remote controls?
DH claims he hasn’t seen the missing items. Gavin and Patty don’t have thumbs so they can’t write and I have no idea what the pups would need with batteries.
If there were kids in this house, I’d know where the batteries went. I’ve known kids who were guilty of swiping batteries from parent’s remotes to power their stuff.
Usually, our gremlins return the borrowed items. I only need to be patient.
Do you have gremlins? What things do they borrow?

I want to sit down and relax
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Whew, this has been a busy week. The only days I spent at home were Monday and Tuesday. Monday was hectic at home with the work being done on the chimney and DH having a bad day. Tuesday I tried to catch up on my cleaning with no great success there. I did manage to get the bathroom scrubbed all but the floor.
On Wednesday, I spent the day over at the house and came home almost too exhausted to cook dinner.
Thursday I ran around all day doing errands. I grocery shopped, unloaded the car, and put everything away. That shot the day and when I had a chance to sit down it was dinnertime.
I spent Friday running here and there. Patty got rambunctious when I was snapping the leash on her collar and sprained my pinkie.
I hope I can relax today because tomorrow it’s back to the house for another day of marking stuff, setting things up, and making sure everything looks good.

Coins…a punny story
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I had help with my blog tonight. Good thing too since I was too tired to think straight.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Mint announced that a new fifty-cent piece was being issued to honor two great American patriots.
On one side of the coin would be Teddy Roosevelt and on the other side, Nathan Hale.
Asked why two people were going to be on the same coin, the spokesman replied, “Now, when you toss a coin you can simply call…. ‘Ted’s or Hale’s’.”
Thanks Jimjim, I needed the giggle.

Even my fish have me trained
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The dogs are spoiled. I admit it they have us well trained. DH claims that the Koi have me well trained too. Can I help it if they love worms and I poke around next to the compost bin to find some so my fish can enjoy a snack? It’s fun to have my lovely finny pets come to the surface and take the worms from my hand.
Even our new little guy is getting into the act. He was brave enough to take a worm from me last night. Yes, I keep saying he in hopes that this new one is a male since the other six are females. He still looks tiny next to them but he is growing rapidly.

Dust bunny coup quelled
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I need a house brownie to clean my house. I’ve been so busy working on the other house that mine is suffering. The dust bunnies have taken over. One particularly vicious looking dust bunny with teeth and claws threatened to hold the dogs hostage last night. Thank goodness, DH was able to use his police training to talk it out down and take it prisoner.
For a bit, I worried that the others would riot. However, most bunnies are nervous creatures and dust bunnies are no different. They quickly disbursed after DH took their leader down. He’s my hero.
Then there’s that cobweb problem that cropped up tonight. You know you’ve neglected the housekeeping when you see them decorating your lampshades like fringe.

I can tell that it is cherry season
Posted by doggonedmysteries
If you look at the picture above, you can’t see it, but off to the left beyond the edge of the picture is a cherry tree. From the size of it, we believe it to be at least one hundred years old. The cherries are ripe now.
How can I tell without going up to the tree to look at them? Every single gosh darned bird around has brought cherries to my yard to picnic on them. I’ve found cherry bits and pits in the waterfall, on the furniture, and in the bird bath. Need I tell you about the color of the bird poop that’s also everywhere?
I can’t wait for cherry season to end. I’m tired of scrubbing the white yard furniture….

Writer at work do not disturb!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I have that sign hanging on my desk but it doesn’t seem to succeed in keeping interruptions at bay.
So far this week I haven’t had a chance to really sit down and do any writing. I’m hoping that today I’ll get some time. If I’m lucky DH will go take a nap in the afternoon, the dogs will snooze in their favorite places, and other than running up and down the steps to do laundry I’ll be able to write.
I’m working on three books at once. In all three, I’m trying to add more description, some dialogue, and move the story along without boring my readers to tears. We’ll see what happens. I can do this IF I have no interruptions.
Last night, I’d no sooner started to work than DH came back downstairs after a couple of hours. DH likes to talk to me when he does this. I was getting into a roll but he bounced me out of it. He doesn’t get the homemaker by day, writer by night picture.
I want to write. I thinking of duct taping DH to his bed. Mwahahaha!

Brain farts or TMI?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I am tired of not being able ‘to think of the word.’ I find myself stuttering in the middle of a conversation as my brain gropes for a word. It’s driving me crazy. DH and G are kind enough to let me to substitute, “whatever or whoever the heck it is” for the word that my brain is struggling to find in its thesaurus.
Is it too much information to sort through or brain farts? Let me digest that a moment. Oh, yeah wrong end.
Do you struggle to find words?
