Another shoe drops
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I was going to blog about the Westminster dog show but then I got an E-mail from my dear friend Elena’s neighbor.
Elena is in the hospital fighting for her life. She had a major heart attack. She was resuscitated and tests showed a blockage that can only be cleared by surgery. She is now in stable, but non-responsive condition with a breathing tube in the ICU. The doctors are waiting for her condition to improve to discuss surgery.
I have a candle burning for her.

Techno I don’t think so!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Yesterday, my friend’s Iphone took exception to her language at it and hung up on her. The nerve of it! If my phone were to do that to me it’d be under a sledge-hammer tout de suite! No mercy no matter how much it begs.
When I say that my computer is the brains of this outfit, I am kidding. At least I hope I am. It’s only hooked to the internet and not to every appliance and light in my house. Imagine if your computer ran your house and got pissed at you? There are countless examples to choose from in books, TV, and movies. Think Hal in your home or better yet, Eureka’s Sarah the house on Sci Fi. No thank you very much.
Most cars come equipped with computers. A very few advancements on those and, well… Will they drive my car next? What if I have an argument with the car? Does that mean that if I want to turn right and the computer thinks that a left turn is all the better to do me in, I hit that wall?
I wonder, are my desk top and lap top computers listening to this? Maybe it’s time I went off the grid….

You are never to old to dream
Posted by doggonedmysteries
There are many ways of breaking a heart. Stories were full of hearts broken by love, but what really broke a heart was taking away its dream – whatever that dream might be. Pearl S. Buck
Never believe anyone that tells you can’t for if you do you’ve let them take a dream away. As a girl I had many dreams that an older relative took great joy in smashing.
Much older now, I realize how naive I was to allow that to happen. When I grow up, I will be a writer.

Techno schmecto just make it work!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
So now my printer and computer aren’t talking to each other. ARRRGH!!! I have the printer wired to the desk top computer and still won’t talk to it. At this rate, I need an in-house computer geek.
The printer is fairly new. It worked fine before the computer needed work done.
It has me wondering if it will talk to my lap top. I’ll try that tomorrow. I don’t feel like running up and down stairs now. Yes, I’m lazy and it’s two freaking a.m.
I wonder, if I can’t get the computer and printer working together, do I have to haul both over to my computer guru to see if he can get them working together?
Shoot me now. I hate driving over there.

Happy belated Birthday Curmudgeon
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The Curmudgeon’s cane arrived from https://www.elderluxe.com/ today. It is gorgeous. I thought I’d ordered it early enough to get it by The Curmudgeon’s birthday back in January, but I was wrong.
If you plan to order a gift from them, give it plenty of time. I can say with conviction that this item was worth both the price and the time it took to get here. The Curmudgeon is delighted with it. 😀 I did good!

The Paypal debacle
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Well, I tried to open a Paypal account again. I have one now but they don’t like my bank or something. I’ve jumped through their hoops a few too many times and I refuse to leap another one. Let’s just say I have a ‘minimal’ account with them and leave it at that.
Automated teller machines hate me too.
I do believe it is my bank’s fault. They’ve never once in 37 years had the correct numbers on our checks. We always have had a problem when someplace wants a routing number or other such thing.
Once a year, at the very least, I have to call them and ask for the proper numbers.
How about you? Did you jump through all their hoops? Or, perhaps you are smarter than I am and you don’t deal with them.

What I’m watching
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Out of all the reality shows, most of which can go away–far, far away, I do enjoy The Voice. I love the blind auditions and will be watching again tonight.
After The Voice, I’ll be switching to the Sci Fi channel to watch Lost Girl.
I didn’t watch the Super Bowl yesterday. I haven’t watched one for 37 years–since I’ve been married. I used to watch a lot of football when I lived at home. With all daughters at least one of us managed to enjoy watching the games with our father.
You all have a good one!

Tight budget month
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Did you ever have one of those months where the money in the checking account seems to have disappeared into a black hole?
Yeah, that’s us this month. The vet bills–many more than usual, the repair of the old desk top, The Curmudgeon’s new glasses–both pair, bills, groceries…oops! The balance got low faster than usual. We’re going to have to budget carefully for the rest of the month.
Makes me real glad I put the lap top purchase on the charge card. I figure I can clear that charge in two or three payments.
I’ll need to stay out of Amazon and keep The Curmudgeon away from all those catalogs.
At least he’ll get his birthday present next week–they finally shipped his new cane.

Letter to Me
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Dear Me,
Remember when you managed to write pages upon pages in your books every day? What happened? You really need to figure out the whats and whys, kick them in the ass, and get back to work. This is taking too long and it is too important to keep screwing up.
Sure, many things have happened this past year. In fact, for several years you’ve had a number of life changing events happen. Don’t take them for granted, use them.
Your Father, Mother, sisters and parents in law are gone, use all that sorrow, hurt, pain, and emotion in your writing. Stop bottling it all up inside and set it free in your writing.
Your Husband, Aunts, Cousins, and friends love you. Embrace that love and bring that joy back into your writing.
All my love,
Me
Just another day in in Paradise.

I was happy as a pig in a mud puddle when I got up yesterday and heard that The Curmudgeon had gone to the drug store to get the dogs’ allergy medications.
I was almost ecstatic to find out he’d also gone to the computer shop and picked up my desk top. Almost, because I had a question about my lap top that I’d planned to ask my computer Guru. Now I’d have to make a trip over there another day since he’d have to see the computer to answer the question.
The Guru had loaded the desk top into The Curmudgeon’s truck and it was my job to get it out, bring it in, and hook it up. The Curmudgeon can’t haul heavy stuff, he has no idea how to hook up a computer, and it was getting close to his nap time.
To my surprise he’d bought a wireless mouse–um, didn’t I just order one the other day? Well, it hadn’t arrived yet. Okay, two computers & two wireless mice, that works, no complaints from me. By that time my grin had grown.
He tells me he’s going up for a nap. Oh, joy! I can work on my computer in peace. Working away getting things set up the way I wanted them when I heard The Curmudgeon coming down the stairs and cussing on his way down. This didn’t bode well.
He’d broken his new glasses and practically dragged me out the door to run to the shop so they could fix them. Even though the sign on the front of the shop said ‘open’ the posted hours for the day said ‘closed’ and so did the locked door.
Arriving back at the house, we found all the other things we’d ordered last week, crammed between the doors, except for the carrying case for the lap top…. Monday is looking good for that.

Idiot dog is going to make me crazy
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Why is that the dogs always wait until late at night or on a weekend to do something really stupid? Gavin began shaking his head tonight and has somewhat opened his ear incision.
I have his whole head bandaged to keep him from shaking blood all over everything and hoping that the incision scabs over enough to keep things on hold until Monday. The Emergency vet is sooo expensive.
Guess who won’t be sleeping?
Oh, our new kitchen faucet arrived, now all I need is to have it installed.
