Oh, freaking DUH!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Wednesday I go for my first cardio check up since the heart attack. It’s a bit intimidating it’s not like I had any advance warning I’d be having surgery.
Which brings me to the bill we got on Saturday. It seems that I wasn’t precertified for the procedure. Um, it was an emergency, doesn’t that mean there wouldn’t be a precertification? Or do you call them for precertification before you dial 911 for the ambulance?
Don’t you just adore insurance companies?

Dinner sucked
Posted by doggonedmysteries
last night’s dinner was a poor choice but both of us were too damned tired to care. Beanie Weenies were fine. Not every meal around here is going to be heart healthy perfect.
Hopefully, we’ll make up for it the rest of the week. We are doing the best we can but when you’re too tired you are too tired. We looked like two marionettes on broken strings by the time dinner rolled around.
I do wish the local chain pizza places offered a heart healthy pizza, but that’d be too much to hope for wouldn’t it?

The comedy that is our home

Doing laundry was an interesting experience yesterday. I’m not supposed to lift anything so the plan was DH would carry the laundry basket to the cellar and back up while I loaded the washer and dryer. Hmmm, we need to rethink that strategy. A man who can’t walk well should not attempt to carry a laundry basket.
Eventually some of the laundry was done. DH has clean dark clothes. None of mine made it yet but that’s my fault I should’ve sorted mine first. Two more loads to go and we’ll both have clean clothes—although it may take a couple of days to do it.
We’ve worked out how to cook and do dishes between us. We haven’t any qualms about stopping what we’re doing to sit down and rest when we need to.
I hate this. I want my energy back.

14 days later…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
If it weren’t for the maroon fading to green remnants of bruises on my hands, in my elbow creases, and the sides of my wrists you probably wouldn’t know I was in the intensive care cardiac unit a mere fourteen days ago. I still find it hard to believe.
Life is an ever-evolving affair. Each day is different from the previous one. Some are only different by tiny increments. Then there are the days that explode in your face and change everything, forever. I’d rather have the dull, quiet days.
I now take six pills a day. I’m restricted as to how much I can do. Lifting? Not allowed until my doctor says I can. The no driving restriction is over but I haven’t the energy to drive anywhere. Energy, I miss having it. I’m not sure if it’s the medications or my body’s recovery that makes me so sluggish.
The minor allergic reaction I had to one of my medications is under control and as the wheals heal, I look forward to being able to wear proper clothes again. Bras don’t work well with wheals.
DH has tried so hard to help. There are times he’s had to really struggle with his MS but he’s done it. Although there have been several large glitches, we have managed.
Change is upon us, dietary, routines, and life in general has altered. Looks as though I’m on a new adventure here and I’ll keep you all updated. Hugs!

My very strange Wednesday
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Wednesday started like all my other Wednesdays of late with a slight modification. I got a call from a man interested in buying the tool chests I called G and she wasn’t ready to go over so I went over to the house alone. I sold the tool chests then I did some work over there and went home around 4:30.
I got home in time to feed the dogs at five. Then I cooked our dinner. After dinner, I went outside to work on the pond where we have a couple of plants trying to take over that I trimmed back. While working I began to feel not well. My chest burned my throat and jaw burned too. I sat down for a minute. The pain didn’t let up.
I went inside, grabbed two aspirins, which I took immediately, and then I sat in my lounge chair and told DH to call for an ambulance. Knowing me, and how I feel about hospitals, (hate them) he dialed 911 immediately. This was a little after seven.
The fire truck, its crew, and the ambulance with paramedics livened up our sleepy little neighborhood. During the ride in the ambulance, I was given four more aspirins and two nitros. Leads were applied to my body, IVs were started, and I was at the hospital in minutes.
They say I didn’t have the myocardial infarction until I was in the cardiac cath lab a mere twenty minutes after I had DH make the call for an ambulance. I now have one stent and they were surprised to find that my cholesterol levels weren’t all that bad.
Saturday they sent me home. I tire easily right now. Therefore, if I don’t post every day for a few weeks don’t worry, DH is being strict with how much time I can be online.

Updated punch list on MIL’s house
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Minor hardwood floor repair—back bedroom, clean and paint a few walls in the basement, tile and laminate flooring installation in the bathroom and kitchen. Install a new toilet in the bathroom. Cosmetics—power wash and seal the front porch. Possibly buy a new screen door for the front. Install new light in kitchen. Paint touch ups. Install attic ladder and clear out the attic.
We have the roofer coming to do the garage roof.
The list is shorter.

The MIL’s house is painted!!!!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I am going over to see the house and pay the painter today. Yes, I am taking my camera along too. According to N it looks fantastic, especially the wall where the chimney is. G is going with me to check it out. Hey Chuck, you and the boss ought to come down and see it too.
I went to Beachhead Comics to see Jonathan Maberry yesterday and we had a nice visit. Much to my surprise, I also managed to find someone there that was interested in buying the tool chests.

Zapped

One thunderstorm after another blasted through here last night pouring buckets of rain down upon us.
My internet connection isn’t happy. I keep getting tossed off line.
You all have a good day.

The other shoe has dropped
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Whew, we got the estimate for the repairs on the garage roof today. OUCH! However, we know we can’t possibly sell the house without the repairs. We’re going to go into debt for sure.
This house had better sell and it’d better sell for a decent price. We have to recoup our expenses and it’d be nice to have enough left over to do the repairs to our own house that need doing. For now it’s going to be a borrow from Peter to pay Paul sort of thing.
Wish us luck because we’re going to need it in this economy.

They will call me when he’s finished painting…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I CAN’T WAIT!
I took pictures of the worst of the walls when we were over at the house Wednesday. Once the painting is done, I’ll take pictures of the same areas, then I’ll post the before and after pictures.
The biggest change will be the wall where the fireplace is because right now you don’t notice the fireplace. On either side of it, they have wood and the wood blends the fireplace in so that the natural stone fades away and all you see is a very dark wall. Our painter is going to paint that wood.
In the kitchen above the cabinets is the same wood. It makes the kitchen dark and dismal. That too is getting a coat of paint.
Here’s to Crumb Cookie white and the miracle of a fresh coat of paint.

YIPPEE!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I am so excited! The house is going to be painted this weekend. G and I went over today and managed to do a little wall scrubbing. The next-door neighbor N and her husband J were already there and had the living room and kitchen done plus she’d scrubbed the bathroom!
When we left today, we decided to go directly over to the local Lowes and pick up the paint. Then we took it back to the house. All the paint is there ready for the painter.
One of her sons (K) had mopped the basement floor and the older son (J) took the organ apart and has it out at the curb for garbage. These people are real gems, I don’t know what G and I would’ve done without their help. We’d still be cleaning things out of there.
Hey, Chuck we’re ready for you to do your magic! The rugs will be out of there as soon as the paint dries. The neighbor’s son J can’t wait to drag those rugs out.

Let the painting begin!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Today G and I will be cleaning walls and getting ready for the painter to work this weekend. The neighbor was over cleaning the living room walls yesterday and told me I won’t believe the difference with just that done.
When we leave, we’ll load the 1950’s dinette into the car and take it to Goodwill. All that leaves in the house is my dresser, armoire, the cedar chest, and the damned organ. I can’t even give that organ away! No one wants it. Now I’ll have to pay someone to come and take it away.
I’ve talked to my next-door neighbor’s son about coming over to the house and using his scaffolding and ladder to get into the attic for us. I hope we can quickly clear the attic of stuff. I really have no idea what is up there. I hope not much.
