MS wastes him away
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It’s been a while since I’ve seen The Curmudgeon’s bare legs. When did they get so skinny and weak? Since when have I been married to a ninety-year-old man? Those of you who know him and haven’t seen him for a while would notice how bad he looks.
He doesn’t get around well these days although he’s still on a cane more than his walker. His face shows more age now than it did a year ago. Even his voice has aged drastically. I tell him he needs to use the weights we have to get some muscle tone back into his legs and arms, but he ignores me.
At least Lucy gets him moving a bit more. She will bug him to play with her with the Kong until he throws it for her several times.

My night shadow
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It seems that once The Curmudgeon goes to bed, she becomes my shadow.
I’m not sure if Gavin is happy about this or not.
He’s usually asleep when she does this.
So, maybe he doesn’t know.
You all have a good one!

Time to try out the new crock pot
Posted by doggonedmysteries
A while back I’d put some country-style ribs in a dry rub for 48 hours and then put them in my crock pot to cook. That was the day my crock pot died. I had to throw out the ribs. Yes, I actually cried about it. Those ribs had started to smell real good right before the crock pot died. We had let them sit for hours in it without knowing that they were sitting in a dead crock pot. At the moment I have ribs sitting in a dry rub and they will be ready for the pot on Monday.
Today I have a lovely beef roast marinating in a Guinness, sweet soy sauce, Worcestershire, thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder solution. That will all be going in the crock pot with onions, potatoes, and carrots in a few hours and roasting for 8 to 10 hours. I’m hoping for tender and tasty.
I’ll let you know how it went. You all have a good one.
A clean bill of health

Waiting for her name to be called.
She gave kisses to everyone she met
This is where her big brother will hide under the chairs
She even snooped in a drawer the tech opened.
Ready for my exam!

Mending the shattered heart
Posted by doggonedmysteries
As each dog left our lives we cried and mourned and felt as though our hearts, shattered to bits, would never recover. However, hearts are resilient if you allow them to be.
You allow another fur baby to burrow into your heart and glue the shattered pieces back where they belong. Each one is different and brings a new joy. If you shy away from ‘ever having another one’ you don’t give your heart the healing it needs.
If you’ve recently lost a beloved fur baby, take heart, there’s always another one who needs you as much (or more) as you need it. Let someone in your heart to glue it back together.

They played a bit today, wish I had more hands ….
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I didn’t have enough hands to get pictures when Gavin and Gemmie played for a few minutes today. Mainly because we were keeping it very controlled. We don’t want anyone to get hurt.
Gemmie was on a leash and I was doing bribery control with Gavin. They were both way too excited. *Giggle* I never saw two tails go wagging in circles as fast as those two did. We are keeping these introductions to minimum contact and minimum time. We are taking no chances with these two.
As it is they hang outside each others crate and snooze or play bow. They are getting used to each other.

Gemma day 2
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The Curmudgeon didn’t have a good day. All the excitement from yesterday set his MS off making him collapse at the bottom of the stairs. We had to call Carlos over from next door first thing this morning to help me get The Curmudgeon into his chair. Once he had breakfast and settled down for a while, he was OK though a bit shaky on his pins.
I took the pups out and got them fed. Both of them were very good. Once The Curmudgeon was up to it, he and his new girl had a good time.
I went out, you can give me my cookie.
The new Mommy person said I could have this fish. It squeaks!
It made me giggle and hucklebutt.
Daddy had a nap and shower and felt a lot better so I jumped up on his lap.
Belly tickles make me giggle.

Playing with Dad
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I decided that my Daddy needed to play so I hunted for and found my green Holey Roller ball and kept teasing him with it.
Sometimes you just have to make the humans play.
I got him to smile!
You all have a good one!
They say my new sister gets here this afternoon.
This should be interesting.
