Too tired to write tonight…

HPIM2503

We’re so tired after running around our yard that we won’t even give Mommy any room to sit.

A rare occasion when both of them are on the couch together.  🙂

You all have a good one!

One step back…

So the appointment at the neurologist didn’t go as hoped.  On the bright side, the MRI of his spine didn’t show any new lesions.  On the dark side, his EEG has them worried.

Now they want an MRI of his brain with contrast.  He has to have blood work done beforehand because the hospital won’t do the MRI without the blood work.

His nurse practitioner (with whom he had the appointment) and his neurologist were both in the room at the end of the appointment.  Not something that happens often and something I find a tad disconcerting.

There big concern was his one medication, Ampyra.  It can cause seizures.  What they found on his EEGs had them concerned.

He is showing more muscle weakness as of late.  His balance is poor and he needs to use the walker and rollator more.

I can see the day coming where I will need to get help in for him, and I have no idea how we will manage to pay for that.

What scares me the most, is that the time to do this, is coming closer at a faster rate.

Well, we’ll deal with it when it gets here.  For now, as usual, it’s one day at a time.

You all have a good one.

A quick funny for you today.

A Fairy Tale for the Assertive Woman

Once upon a time, in a land far away, a beautiful princess happened upon a frog, as she sat contemplating ecological issues, on the shores of an unpolluted pond in a verdant meadow near her castle.

The frog hopped into the Princess’ lap and said, “Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome Prince until an evil witch cast a spell upon me. One kiss from you, however, and I will turn back Into the dapper, handsome, charming, young Prince that I was and then, my sweet, we can marry and set up housekeeping in yon castle with my mother. There, you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children, and forever feel grateful and happy doing so.

That night, on a repast of lightly sautéed frog legs seasoned in a white wine and onion cream sauce, she chuckled to herself and thought, “I don’t fucking think so.”

Fairy tale continues…

Cragger crept forward through the thick undergrowth.  Mavelle and McDougal followed close behind.  Heavy vines, bushes loaded with thorns, and moss-covered ground made the going slow.  More than once Mavelle’s feet slipped out from under her and Cragger helped her to her feet.  Their conversation limited to grunts and groans by the effort they put forth.

Before long, they had a view of Lovena and Sarah’s prison.  Mavelle’s gaze swept over the heavy stone that kept her sisters prisoner.

“How will we ever get them out of there even when we kill the troll?”

“You forget, I’m a dwarf, and we dwarves have a way with stone.”  He pointed to a thicket ahead of them.  “We can take cover there until he appears.”

Mavelle pushed to her feet and continued.  Once they reached the thicket, they used hand signals to position themselves.  Cragger watched one direction while Mavelle watched the opposite.

McDougal growled.  The rumble came from deep within his body.  He raised his lips to show his teeth, and stared at a pile of rubble in front of them that began to move.  In an instant Mavelle was helpless in a grip of stone.  The last thing she saw was Cragger’s limp body flying through the air.  The last thing she heard was McDougal’s howl of pain.

All smiles here

You know we all have some days that are pure crap.  However, once in a while, along comes a day where you feel like you are farting rainbows.  Where every miserable thing that’s gone before feels distant and blurred.

That was my yesterday.  Little things went right all day.  In this house that is not normal.

The dogs stayed out of trouble.  The Curmudgeon’s mood lightened.  The sun came out to play all day.

Then the package arrived.  Addressed to Gloria’s Cousin.  That would be me at this address.  Inside, I found a ring I’ve coveted for at least two years.  I’ve entered each contest put on by Bella Morta Jewelry to win it.  Seems that someone who knows my cousin made sure I got it.  😀  Color me delighted.

You all have a good one today because I sure had one yesterday!!

the ring!!!

You find the deals where you can

Between the medications and the vitamins The Curmudgeon takes every day, it’s truly a miracle that he doesn’t rattle when he walks.

I found a good deal on Amazon for a few of his vitamins, my vitamins, and they had the Turmeric he wanted to start taking.  I ordered, got the  super saver free shipping,  and was surprised and pleased as to how fast they arrived.

I have to hunt for good deals on the vitamins because he takes so many.  We don’t get any help paying for those things.

It seems that the vitamin D does help him walk better.  We notice a big difference when he doesn’t take it.  The same goes for all the B vitamins, the C, and whatever else he uses.

You all have a good one and remember March is MS awareness month!

Noooooooooooo!

I knew I didn’t want to step on the scale.  I can’t believe it, I gained two pounds.  Excuse me while I go to a corner, curl into a ball, and sob.

I’ll do another ten miles on the bicycle later today.  Weights and yoga sufficed yesterday.  I did get G to join the gym so I’ll have an exercise buddy at least twice a week.

I won’t let this beat me.  Next weigh in is in a week…

You all have a good one.

Fairy tale, small section this time …sorry Cuz.

“Then most certainly one of the fish is his.”  Cragger tossed the largest fish to McDougal.  “Here’s yours.”

The dog settled down and tore into his meal, his tail wagged the entire time.  As soon as he finished, he walked over to Mavelle and gave her face a big slurp.

“Oh, icky fish breath!  You crazy hound.”  She hugged his neck for a minute.  “Go lie down now.”

“Here” Cragger passed a plate to her.  “We’ll need plenty of energy for what we have to do.”

They passed their meal in silence then, their thoughts filled with what was to come.  The imagination is not a pretty thing sometimes.

Skinny here I come!

I dragged out some of my very skinny me pictures and have them placed in strategic areas about the house.  They are to remind me of my goal.  My goal is to get back down to that weight.

Next step is to get more exercise, that begins on Wednesday when I join the gym.  Any of my friends that wish to join me are welcome to but please do not sabotage me.  I am doing this for me, for my heart, for my health, and for my aching knees.

Wish me luck!  I have failed on this a lot lately due to the tremendous stress here, laziness, and stress eating.  I must get this under control.

You all have a good one!

Enough tears of my own

If you see or receive something in your e-mail that makes you cry, please don’t send it on to me.  I have enough to cry over on a daily basis.

Please do not send me pictures of abused animals and ask me to donate money to your cause.  I won’t look past the picture and will delete it immediately.

Do not send me prayers and other religious things, I probably do not share your beliefs.  Do not send me any chain letters or other such crap.  You waste my time and yours.

Do send me news of your accomplishments, your family, and your pets antics.  I am glad to hear and receive real news of you at any time.

You all have a good one!

Fair weather dogs.

Will the cold and wet weather never cease?  Yesterday we managed to have snow, sleet, and rain.  The dogs were not happy campers.  They like sunshine and warm.  They take after me.  😀

Today our high will be 30 degrees and our low 18.  Wind chills will drop that even more.  Yikes!

I can see the dogs now.  Patty will hold it until her bladder reaches almost bursting level before she asks to go out.  Gavin will still want out every five minutes.  Therefore, both dogs will go out often, because if one goes the other goes.

I am not putting on my jacket and taking one out without the other going too.  I have done the take one out, come in, other one not in sight, remove jacket, settle comfortably, and then the other one rings the bells to go out.

Not going to happen.  If one goes so will the other.

My two therapists

I do wish I’d grabbed my camera yesterday when The Curmudgeon’s friend showed up.  Gavin and Patty were so excited to see him I thought they’d mow him down.

When he finally sat down on the couch both dogs took that as an invitation to roughhouse.  He took it in good spirits because he needed doggy attention.  He recently lost both his dogs mere weeks apart.  By the time he left, he’d been thoroughly loved on by my two.  They make good grief counselors.

We told him to come back any time for a doggy fix because they certainly enjoy the attention.

You all have a good one!
