Save us from reality shows
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I watch TV for entertainment purposes. Therefore I do not watch reality shows that make me ill just from watching the danged trailers for them. No I don’t want to see how bad that poor sick person’s house looks. Nor do I want to know about someone’s horrible and weirdly sick addiction.
What people do in the privacy of their homes belongs there and not jumping off my TV screen.
I had enough dealing with a hoarders home when in my reality I had to clear out my MIL’s house. No, I don’t want to compare notes with the TV on whose house was worse. Entertainment? Oh, hell no.
I’m so glad I read and oh, yeah I write too….
You all have a good one. Me, I’m going to turn off the TV and go for a walk.

Another shoe drops
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I was going to blog about the Westminster dog show but then I got an E-mail from my dear friend Elena’s neighbor.
Elena is in the hospital fighting for her life. She had a major heart attack. She was resuscitated and tests showed a blockage that can only be cleared by surgery. She is now in stable, but non-responsive condition with a breathing tube in the ICU. The doctors are waiting for her condition to improve to discuss surgery.
I have a candle burning for her.

Love’ has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get – only with what you are expecting to give – which is everything. Katharine Hepburn
Dearest Curmudgeon,
I give my heart to you each day with no reservations. Hold it gently, protect it fiercely, and it will always be yours.
Love,
~Me~
Dearest Aunties and Cousins,
I love you all very much.

~Me~
Dear friends,
My heart has room for many, do come in.

Happy belated Birthday Curmudgeon
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The Curmudgeon’s cane arrived from https://www.elderluxe.com/ today. It is gorgeous. I thought I’d ordered it early enough to get it by The Curmudgeon’s birthday back in January, but I was wrong.
If you plan to order a gift from them, give it plenty of time. I can say with conviction that this item was worth both the price and the time it took to get here. The Curmudgeon is delighted with it. 😀 I did good!

Letter to Me
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Dear Me,
Remember when you managed to write pages upon pages in your books every day? What happened? You really need to figure out the whats and whys, kick them in the ass, and get back to work. This is taking too long and it is too important to keep screwing up.
Sure, many things have happened this past year. In fact, for several years you’ve had a number of life changing events happen. Don’t take them for granted, use them.
Your Father, Mother, sisters and parents in law are gone, use all that sorrow, hurt, pain, and emotion in your writing. Stop bottling it all up inside and set it free in your writing.
Your Husband, Aunts, Cousins, and friends love you. Embrace that love and bring that joy back into your writing.
All my love,
Me
A Gavin update
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Had Gavin at the vet’s this evening. He checked Gavin’s ear and wants to leave the stitches in another week to make sure enough scar tissue builds up to prevent this from happening again.
As usual, Gavin was not thrilled to be there no matter how many cookies he got. Yes, he’s a short bus dog for sure. His vet adores him even though Gavin will not look him in the face. Gavin will close his eyes to take a treat so he can’t look him in the eye.
When we got home He leapt about with Patty like a puppy. He was very happy to be home after the torture of having NOTHING DONE to him and many cookies.

Sherlock Holmes; a game of shadows
Posted by doggonedmysteries

G and I went to see it yesterday. We both loved, loved, loved it! We are looking forward to more. I may have bruised G’s arm poking her with my elbow when the bull terrier appeared on-screen. Yay, for bullies!
We are also looking forward to Men In Black 3 the trailers looked like great fun!
For my birthday in March we are going to make sure we go to see John Carter.

Just another day
Posted by doggonedmysteries
A little while ago I turned off the TV. Now, as I sit here at my desk, all the sounds I hear are coming from the two crates behind me. Soft snores punctuated with a tail wag or two make me smile.
I love the night when the dogs are snoozing and The Curmudgeon has gone to bed. I feel as though I can catch my breath a little. It’s nice to have no demands on me for a little while.
Yesterday was a busy day for me. Gavin had another earache so he was constantly looking for attention. Patty was feeling left out which meant another one who wanted me. The Curmudgeon was having one of his bad days too.
When he went upstairs for a nap I thought I’d get a break because both dogs usually decide they need a nap too. Nope, Gavin’s earache had him shaking his head every few minutes, poor boy. No nap for him and no break for me.

I’m glad you’re okay
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Things were in a bit of an uproar at Chez Doggonedmysteries. I was very worried about a dear friend of mine who lives in another state. Between my pacing, dialing her phone, and worrying out loud, The Curmudgeon and the pups knew that Mom was on the edge.
Finally, I couldn’t take it any longer and I looked up her local PD. They had four districts and I had no idea what one to contact, but they also had an e-mail address. I e-mailed them asking them to check on on her welfare.
To my great relief they did check on her and a nice officer called me to say she was in the hospital, doing well, and should be home soon.
WHEW!

What is your passion?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Everyone has one, two, or more things that they are passionate about. For me it’s The Curmudgeon, the dogs, writing, and my gardens.
I have no idea what I’d do without The Curmudgeon, he’s my life.
For over thirty years I ran a small, local Bull Terrier club rescue and I have to say I miss it terribly. However, I also have to say that I no longer have the energy to do it. We rescued and placed well over thirty Bull Terriers in happy homes and only ever had one bounce back. Two of our own dogs were rescue Bullies we didn’t place but kept. Sadie and who the Curmudgeon fell for like a ton of bricks, and our sweet Patty our last rescue.
Writing, I try to write every day, even if as of lately it is only blog posts.
What are you passionate about?
My gardens, they have suffered the last year with me being so busy at the MIL’s house, and with all the rain we’ve had–too much rain.

And so today goes…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It’s Thanksgiving. The Curmudgeon and I are going to enjoy a lovely dinner of roast chicken (he won’t eat turkey), sage stuffing, gravy, Harvard beets, cranberry sauce, and we have a slice of cheesecake for each of us for dessert. Okay it isn’t a completely traditional dinner, but we aren’t your traditional family.
After dinner we’ll enjoy a movie marathon of some DVDs we bought lately and hadn’t had a chance to watch yet.
The Curmudgeon will fall asleep in his chair with Patty. Gavin will be snoring away in my chair with me. I will be thankful That I get to enjoy watching all three sleep.
There’s something to be said about a very small family. There’s no noise, no pressure, and no fighting. How thankful can I get? Plenty thankful.
